Trustees are the guardians of a charity's purpose, providing leadership, oversight and strategic direction to ensure the organisation remains effective, sustainable and focused on delivering its mission.

As a trustee of Headway UK, you will join a committed board working collectively to support and challenge the executive team, safeguard the charity's reputation and resources, and help shape its future priorities.

Having conducted a knowledge, skills and experience audit, we are particularly looking broaden the collective expertise of the board by recruiting new trustees with the following skills:

• Charity and/or company law
• Safeguarding
• Neuropsychology
• Charity retail
• Cyber security and digital transformation

Main duties

The ClientEarth UK Board of Trustees is responsible for agreeing ClientEarth’s overall programmatic and financial strategy; approving the annual budget; and ensuring sound governance, administration, and financial management.

Trustees also have oversight of arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal, and remuneration of the Chief Executive Officer and the rest of the Executive Team. Day-to-day management of ClientEarth is delegated to the Chief Executive Officer, who onward delegates certain functions to the Executive Team, as well as members of the Global Leadership Group.

Key requirements

• Knowledge of or a strong interest in conservation, biodiversity, climate change, and/or social justice
• Strategic vision, sound and independent judgment, and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of working in a global organisation

• Significant, relevant experience working in the EU or Asia-Pacific

Further Information

UK Trustees serve a three-year term, and will be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. In exceptional cases, or where necessary to fill a needed skill gap, a Trustee may be offered a third term.

We estimate that Trustees commit on average 8-10 days a year, not including travel.

There is no financial remuneration for Trustees, although Board-related travel expenses may be claimed.

IAPWA is seeking an experienced HR Volunteer to provide strategic guidance and independent oversight of our people practices. This role is focused on supporting good governance rather than delivering day-to-day HR operations.

Working alongside the CEO and relevant staff, the volunteer will help ensure the charity's HR policies, procedures and practices remain compliant with UK employment legislation, reflect best practice, and support a positive and inclusive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Volunteer Dog Fosterer

Could you offer a safe and loving home to an assistance dog in training?

We are looking for volunteer dog fosterers who can provide a calm, supportive home environment for one of our dogs or puppies in training.

Fostering plays an important part in helping our dogs grow in confidence, develop routines, and experience everyday family life as they prepare for their future role.

There is no cost to you. We provide food, vet care, toys, equipment, and holiday cover.

We have puppy fostering opportunities available for people based across England. These are usually longer-term placements, often lasting around 6 to 9 months.

We also offer an evenings and weekends dog fostering option for people who live in Congleton or within around a 30-minute drive of our head office at CW12 3LN.

This option may suit people who are out during the working day but could care for a dog in training during evenings, overnight, and on some weekends. For this role, you would collect the dog in the evening and drop them back the following morning, with day care provided from our Congleton head office.

Evening and weekend dog fostering placements usually last between 2 and 6 months.

Whether you are helping raise a puppy for the longer term, or offering evening and weekend care to a dog in training, you will be giving them a safe and supportive home as they prepare for their future.

Shining a light on loneliness

London is one of the most electric, fast-paced cities on Earth. Yet underneath the noise, it is facing a quiet crisis.

In boroughs like Tower Hamlets, nearly 40% of our neighbors report feeling chronically lonely and isolated. For many adults, urban isolation is a heavy, daily reality.

We are SUNSHINE, and we are here to smash that isolation with pure, unadulterated, radical positivity and human connection!

We are seeking a volunteer who has experience in Marketing and Communications. We need our storyteller, a creative, visually minded, and highly driven volunteer to amplify our voice, build our digital footprint, raise our profile, and help us paint London yellow with positivity and human connection!

What You’ll Do

• Own the Story: Create and lead on our social media content calendar and bring it to life across Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook and others.
• Guard the Vibe: Coordinate with our volunteer graphic designers to ensure all templates, quote cards, and digital assets match our signature high-vibrancy brand identity.
• Drive Engagement: Write punchy, encouraging copy that inspires lonely residents to take the brave step of showing up to our socials, and motivates local creatives to join our behind-the-scenes squad, or our frontline volunteer team.
• Animate the Grid: Turn raw photos and smartphone footage captured by our frontline team at the "SUNSHINE Programmes" into joyful Reels, TikToks, and posts that showcase our real-world impact.

Who We Need

A positive human, passionate about marketing and communications and who wants to help us reduce loneliness through positivity and human connection.

• A Creative Storyteller: You understand social media aesthetics. You know how to make digital content feel urgent, warm, inspiring, and visually engaging.
• An Organised Coordinator: You are comfortable leading a small micro-team of 3–4 creative volunteers, delegating tasks smoothly, and keeping asset production on schedule.
• A Smartphone & Canva Native: You know your way around Instagram Reels, TikTok formatting, and basic Canva layouts, and you love using digital tools to build communities.
• Empathetic & Purpose-Driven: You deeply believe in the power of words and visuals to dismantle the "loneliness stigma" and want to use your creative skills for good.
