Job Description
We are looking for a Volunteer Digital Marketing Director to help lead and coordinate our digital outreach and growth strategy.
You will help develop and manage the organisation’s digital marketing activities, ensuring campaigns, content and communication channels work together to raise awareness and engage supporters.
This role involves working closely with the Founder and Digital Marketing team to guide digital campaigns, support online engagement and help build systems that allow the organisation to grow.
The role focuses on strategy, coordination and improving the impact of digital campaigns and outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the organisation’s digital marketing strategy
- Support the planning and delivery of digital campaigns across platforms
- Work with content, design and campaign teams to align messaging and activities
- Help build digital pathways for volunteers, donors and supporters to engage with the organisation
- Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements
- Oversee tools such as email marketing platforms, social media channels and CRM systems
- Ensure digital activities follow data protection and GDPR guidelines
- Provide updates and insights to leadership on digital performance
What We’re Looking For
- Experience or strong interest in digital marketing strategy or campaign management
- Ability to coordinate multiple digital channels such as social media, email and websites
- Experience working with tools such as CRM systems, email marketing platforms or digital collaboration tools
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a remote volunteer team
- Interest in social impact, community engagement or nonprofit work
- Experience in nonprofit digital marketing or campaign strategy is helpful but not required

Job Description
We are looking for a Volunteer Email Marketing & Retention Manager to help manage email communications that keep our supporters, volunteers and donors informed and engaged.
You will help design and manage email campaigns and supporter journeys that build trust and encourage people to stay connected with our work. This role involves working with the Digital Marketing Director and Digital Marketing teams to send updates, campaign messages and fundraising emails.
The role focuses on building structured email communication, maintaining supporter relationships and monitoring engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage email campaigns for supporters, volunteers and donors
- Develop simple email journeys such as welcome emails, updates and campaign messages
- Segment audiences to send relevant and respectful communications
- Support fundraising, campaigns and community engagement through email
- Monitor performance such as open rates, clicks and engagement
- Maintain mailing lists and ensure data protection and GDPR compliance
- Work with content writers and campaign teams to align messaging
- Help build simple systems for long-term supporter communication
What We’re Looking For
- Experience or interest in email marketing or digital communications
- Familiarity with tools such as Mailchimp, MailerLite or similar email platforms
- Understanding of basic email metrics such as open rates and click rates
- Ability to organise communication journeys and supporter lists
- Comfort collaborating with a remote volunteer team
- Interest in social impact, community engagement or nonprofit work
- Experience in nonprofit communications or supporter engagement is helpful but not required

About Roots Academy

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 2000 students across the UK, Canada, USA and Ireland.
We are currently recruiting 4 site managers across the UK - to cover London, England, Wales and Scotland.
Role Summary
Site managers are responsible for establishing partnerships with University Muslim Student Associations (MSAs) and Islamic Societies (ISocs), and maintaining positive relationships with these sites.
Key tasks

Actively establish and maintain positive relationships with the MSA/ISoc committees and Student Ambassadors to ensure an exceptional onsite experience for students and promote retention of sites

Be responsible for overseeing all onsite logistics through liaison with the Student Ambassador to ensure that onsite logistics including advertising of the class and other required tasks are taken care of by the MSA/ISoc

Be the point of contact for ISocs: answer questions from the MSA/ ISoc committees and Student Ambassadors to the best of your ability and engage them on a 1-1 basis, listen to their needs and concerns and addressing these accordingly

Collect ideas and best-practices from how different MSAs/ISocs are delivering their class

Participate in onboarding current and new sites prior to the start of the academic year

Be the point of contact internally for any queries or updates related to assigned MSAs/ISocs
What we’re looking for

An understanding of the Muslim university scene and how university MSAs/ISocs operate.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability and keenness to make and maintain genuine connections with people.

Ability to travel regionally for face-to-face meetings with MSA/ISoc committees, at least once per semester.
