The Lamport Hall Preservation Trust is seeking new Trustees to help shape the
future of one of Northamptonshire's most significant heritage and education trusts.
The Trust not only supports the preservation of the historic Lamport Hall Estate, its
collections and landscape, but also has a long-standing commitment to education,
learning and public engagement. Through a wide range of educational initiatives,
the Trust works with schools, colleges, universities and cultural organisations to
create opportunities for learning, research and creative practice in a unique
environment.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will help guide the strategic direction and governance of the Trust,
ensuring that its charitable objectives are delivered effectively and sustainably.
Trustees are responsible for:
Supporting the conservation and development of Lamport Hall and its estate;
Promoting the Trust's educational and charitable activities;
Ensuring good governance and compliance with charity regulations;
Overseeing the Trust's financial sustainability and long-term planning;
Acting as ambassadors for the Trust and its mission.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for heritage,
education and community engagement. Experience in areas such as education,
culture, fundraising, finance, law, property, business, marketing or environmental
management would be particularly valuable. In particular, we are keen to hear
from candidates with expertise in financial management, investment,
endowment management, or charitable finance. As the Trust seeks to secure its
long-term sustainability and enhance its charitable impact, individuals with
experience of financial strategy, investment oversight, accounting, banking, wealth
management, or governance of charitable assets would make a valuable contribution
to the Board. Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.
We are looking for people who can:
Think strategically and contribute independent judgement;
Work collaboratively as part of a board;
Support the Trust's charitable and educational ambitions;
Commit time to meetings and occasional events throughout the year.
Why Become a Trustee?
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the preservation of an
important historic estate while helping to inspire and educate future generations
through a diverse programme of cultural and educational activities.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
About the Trust
The Lift and Escalator Educational Trust will be a small charitable incorporated organisation being established to continue the work of the existing unincorporated charity. It will operate independently while working closely with the Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA).
The Trust exists to advance education and training in electrical and mechanical engineering, particularly within the lift and escalator industry, for the benefit of people working in the sector and the wider public. Its objects also enable it to support scholarships, lectureships, prizes, awards and other educational activity.
Its future work is expected to include:
· awarding grants and commissioning educational projects;
· supporting qualifications, training and continuing professional development for people from entry level through to experienced practitioners;
· producing public awareness and safety information; and
· increasing public understanding of lifts, escalators and the wider engineering industry.
The role
The two new trustees will join three existing trustees connected with LEIA and the lift and escalator industry. Together, the trustees will be responsible for the governance, strategic direction and effective use of the Trust's resources.
Trustees will:
· help determine the Trust's strategy and educational priorities;
· oversee grants, commissioned work and other charitable expenditure;
· ensure that the Trust pursues its charitable objects and complies with its governing document and relevant charity law;
· safeguard the Trust's assets, reputation and independence;
· review the impact and effectiveness of its work;
· contribute expertise, ideas and constructive challenge; and
· act collectively in the best interests of the Trust.
Person specification
We are looking for people with an interest in engineering and experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas (outside of the Lift and Escalator industry):
· education, training or qualifications;
· public engagement;
· public understanding of science, engineering or technology; or
· grant-making or commissioning educational work.
Trustees should also demonstrate:
· commitment to the Trust's charitable purpose;
· integrity, discretion and respect for confidentiality;
· strategic thinking, sound independent judgement and a willingness to challenge constructively;
· enthusiasm and an ability to work collaboratively;
· willingness to devote the necessary time to reading papers and attending meetings;
· understanding of, or willingness to learn about, charity trusteeship; and
· an appreciation of the role of trade associations and membership organisations.
Previous trustee experience is welcome but is not essential. We welcome applications from first-time trustees and from people with a range of professional, voluntary and lived experience.
Current Charity number: 326993 – to be incorporated as an CIO as a new charity.

Trustee — Policy, Advocacy & EDI
About us: Could you help us get millions of separated children Back to Family?
Orphanages don’t protect children, they harm them. Put simply: the last thing an orphanage can provide is the first thing a child needs - someone to love them.
Right now, 5.4 million children around the world are locked away in orphanages — even though over 80% of them are not orphans. Orphanages expose children to abuse and trafficking, and physical and psychological trauma that can last a lifetime. A century of evidence shows that the bond between a child and their family is what every child needs to grow, thrive and be safe.
The role
As our Policy, Advocacy & EDI Trustee, you will help shape and strengthen HHC's influence on the global stage, bringing senior expertise to bear on the policy and financing decisions that determine the pace of care reform worldwide. Working closely with our Chair, CEO and senior advocacy and programmes colleagues, you will contribute to our ambitious 2030 goal by:
Who we are looking for
You will bring senior-level experience in public policy, government relations or international advocacy, ideally connected to child protection, social welfare or human rights, and a demonstrable track record of influencing policy or financing decisions at national, regional or international level. Above all, you will share our belief that every child deserves to grow up in the love and safety of a family, and our commitment to driving that change with courage, integrity, excellence and being deeply human.
What we offer
This is a voluntary, unremunerated role. In return you will:
Time commitment
The role requires approximately 12–18 days per year, comprising:
The initial term of office is three years, with the possibility of two further three-year terms by mutual agreement.
Closing Date: The final cut off for applications is 17.00 UK time on Thursday 8 October 2026 so please get in touch if you have the right skills, experience and passion for our cause.
To apply, please upload your CV and a brief covering letter indicating why you are interested in joining the Hope and Homes for Children Board and how your experience, skills and values map to the requirements of this role.
Diversity
Hope and Homes for Children actively encourages equity, diversity and inclusion, and we look to recruit a diverse range of people to reflect the communities in which we live. We are keen to see a diverse membership of both the trustee body and committees as we believe diversity brings us closer to our mission of eliminating orphanages.

Help a young person take their next step after school or college
For many young people, deciding what comes after sixth form or college can feel overwhelming. Whether it's university, apprenticeships, employment, or something else entirely, the choices are significant, and not everyone has someone they can turn to for advice, encouragement and insight.
As a Brightside Connect Mentor, you can help change that.
Brightside is recruiting volunteer online mentors to support 16-19-year-olds from more than 100 schools, sixth forms and colleges across the UK as they explore their future options. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and career paths, including university students, apprentices, graduates and working professionals.
Over 12 weeks, you'll build a mentoring relationship with a young person through Brightside's secure online mentoring platform, sharing your experiences, answering questions, and helping them make informed decisions about their future. A key feature of the programme is choice: young people browse mentor profiles and select someone whose experiences resonate with them, helping to create stronger, more meaningful mentoring relationships from the outset.
Whether you're reflecting on your journey through higher education, explaining what it's like to be an apprentice, or sharing lessons from your career so far, your insight can help a young person feel more confident about the opportunities available to them.
The programme offers both asynchronous text-based mentoring and live video calls, giving mentors and mentees the flexibility to connect in ways that work for them while building a meaningful relationship over time. All video calls are recorded in line with Brightside's safeguarding approach, helping to create a safe and trusted environment for everyone involved. Most mentors volunteer for just 1-2 hours a week.
You don't need any previous mentoring experience. We'll provide training, guidance and ongoing support, and we'll complete your DBS check before the programme begins. The programme launches on Monday 21 September, with onboarding, training and DBS checks taking place over the summer.
With 23 years' experience supporting young people through mentoring, Brightside operates the UK's safest online mentoring platform, combining robust safeguarding, moderation and support with meaningful opportunities for young people and volunteers to connect, learn and grow.
By sharing your experiences, you can help a young person broaden their horizons, build confidence, and take their next step with greater clarity and ambition.
Join us and help ensure every young person has access to the guidance, encouragement and role models they need to succeed.
Our mission is to help young people make confident and informed decisions about their future

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
Inspire the next generation of tech talent from just 1-2 hours a week
Thousands of young people across the UK are interested in technology but have never met someone who works in the sector. They've never had the chance to ask questions, explore pathways into the industry, or hear someone say, "You can do this too."
As an IntoTech online mentor, you can help change that.
Brightside is recruiting 700 volunteer technology professionals to support young people aged 14-16 as they explore careers in technology. Delivered in partnership with Futures for All and generously funded by the Hg Foundation, the programme will launch in January 2026, connecting more than 2,000 young people with professionals working across the tech sector.
Over 12 weeks, you'll connect with a young person through Brightside's secure online mentoring platform, sharing your experiences, answering questions, and helping them build confidence about their future. Young people choose their own mentor, creating meaningful conversations that broaden horizons and bring careers in technology to life.
The mentoring is entirely text-based and asynchronous, so there's no need to coordinate diaries or attend regular calls. You can respond at times that suit you, making it easy to fit around work and other commitments. Most mentors volunteer for just 1-2 hours a week.
You don't need any previous mentoring experience. We'll provide training, guidance and ongoing support, and we'll complete your DBS check before the programme begins. Onboarding will take place between now and December, with opportunities to get involved in other Brightside mentoring programmes in the meantime.
With 23 years' experience supporting young people through mentoring, Brightside operates the UK's safest online mentoring platform, enabling meaningful, moderated engagement between volunteers and young people.
By sharing your story, you can help a young person discover opportunities they may never have considered and take a confident step towards a future in technology.
Join us and help make the tech sector more accessible, diverse and inclusive for the next generation.
Our mission is to help young people make confident and informed decisions about their future
