Clinical Trustee and Digital Transformation Trustee
Use your clinical, digital or strategic expertise to help Birmingham Hospice deliver outstanding care for generations to come.

At Birmingham Hospice, our work is guided by compassion, dignity and respect. We support people and families through some of life’s most important moments, and we know that delivering exceptional care now and, in the future, depends on strong governance, thoughtful leadership and well-led change.
We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and help guide the next stage of our journey:
Clinical Trustee: We are looking for a senior clinical professional who can support our board level decision making through their experience & clinical insight, this knowledge with allow for the appropriate level of assurance and to ensure that our patients continue to receive outstanding care. You will also use your experience to support and engage our leadership teams to ensure that our commissioner and regularity standards are maintained through building effective relationships with our senior clinical team. It would be desirable for experience with digital transformation given the digital journey that the hospice is embarking on.
This is a rewarding voluntary role for an experienced healthcare leader who is passionate about improving patient care.
Digital Transformation Trustee: We are seeking an experienced digital, IT or AI leader to help shape the future of hospice care in an increasingly digital world. You will provide strategic insight and oversight across digital innovation, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. You will also support and challenge our leadership teams to ensure technology is used ethically, safely and effectively to enhance patient care, strengthen organisational resilience and manage opportunities and risks in AI and emerging technologies.
What we are looking for
For the Clinical Trustee role, we are seeking someone who can offer:
· A senior clinician, with a strong background in clinical practice and leadership.
· A strong understanding of patient safety and quality improvement.
· A collaborative approach and alignment with Birmingham Hospice’s mission and values.
· Awareness of the national healthcare landscape and emerging challenges facing the sector.
· It would be desirable for experience with digital transformation given the digital journey that the hospice is embarking on (this is not essential)
For the Digital Transformation Trustee role, we are seeking someone who can offer:
· Senior digital or IT leadership experience, ideally at board or executive level.
· Expertise in AI, digital transformation or emerging technologies.
· A strong understanding of cybersecurity, data protection and cyber governance.
· The ability to translate complex technology issues for non-technical audiences.
· Experience of digital risk, compliance or regulatory frameworks.
· A collaborative and strategic approach, aligned with our values and mission.

Creative Arts & Drama Group Volunteer
We are looking for friendly, creative Volunteers to support our weekly arts and drama groups for adults. Sessions run throughout the week and provide a relaxed, inclusive space for people to explore creativity, build confidence and support their mental wellbeing.
These are informal, participant-led groups, and our participants include adults who are:
• Autistic
• Non-verbal or have limited verbal communication
• Blind or visually impaired
• Wheelchair users or people with mobility difficulties
• Adults with learning disabilities or learning difficulties
• Individuals with a wide range of confidence levels and communication styles
What you’ll be doing
• Helping set up and pack away session spaces and resources
• Preparing refreshments (tea and coffee)
• Welcoming and supporting participants
• Encouraging engagement in creative activities (art or drama)
• Supporting a safe, inclusive and relaxed group environment
• Being present alongside participants during sessions
What we’re looking for

Can you spare 3 hours a week to make a difference to the lives of children? Home-Start Volunteers offer support, friendship and practical help to families.
We are looking for compassionate, non-judgemental and caring individuals to join our community of volunteers to share their parenting experiences and knowledge with families. Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK and Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire work in Northwich, Warrington and Winsford. Our volunteers provide a weekly, one-to-one home-visiting service. We help families from all backgrounds, with at least one child in the household under the age of 5 years, through their most challenging times.
Your role will be to offer support to a family you are matched with and support them in the way that they would like: this may include help with practical tasks such as getting out of the house, attending appointments, an extra pair of hands on a trip to the park or a playgroup, role-modelling how to play with children or helping to get organised. It could also involve empathising and supporting through emotional issues in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. All visits are a maximum of three hours, once per week and all take place Monday to Thursday, between 9am and 4pm (and only when our office is open).
Home Start also deliver targeted groups to support families, a place for families to connect, learn and play together. Volunteers support Home Start staff to deliver groups for families – from helping to set up/clear away, role-modelling playing with the children to parents and offering friendly emotional support to parents.
We will train you to Home Start Warrington and Cheshire standards of excellence. The training is free and is delivered by a combination of online modules and four, weekly, face to face sessions with one of our Family Support Coordinators.

Our next volunteer course of preparation is due to start in September. We offer the course in two locations - Warrington on Tuesday's or Winsford on Thursday's.
Volunteers will receive ongoing support and supervision from our Family Support Coordinators and there are opportunities for further training. Your experience, attributes and competencies will be recognised, and you will have the opportunity to develop them further.
Home-Start Warrington and Cheshire is committed to safer recruitment practise as an important part of safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults. Any offer of a voluntary role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check, two satisfactory references and to have completed our preparation course and signed our Code of Conduct and relevant policies and procedures before they will be able to volunteer with a family or at one of our groups or events.
