Role Summary
The Site Manager role involves overseeing a number of university Islamic Societies or Muslim Student Associations who are interested in partnering with Roots Academy to host the Essentials Onsite Program an in-person transformative educational class tailored to university students on campus. The Site Manager role is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with these ISoc/MSA committees and offering 1:1 support to ensure that they have an excellent educational experience.
Key tasks
- Actively establish and maintain positive relationships with ISoc/MSA committees and Student Ambassadors (ISoc/MSA representative) to ensure an exceptional onsite experience for students, and promote retention of sites.
- Be the point of contact for ISocs/MSAs: answer questions, offer light-touch support and coaching on ways to improve the class, engage on a 1:1 basis listening to their needs and concerns, and addressing these accordingly.
- Liaise with Student Ambassadors to ensure that logistics involved in marketing and running the class are taken care of by the ISoc/MSA.
- Collect ideas and best-practices from how different campuses deliver their class
- Be the internal point of contact for any queries or updates related to ISocs/MSAs assigned.

Read Easy Sheffield is a successful local charity that provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, affiliated to national charity Read Easy UK. We are currently looking to expand our work and for this we need some more volunteers to join our friendly management team, and we excited to be seeking a new Literacy Specialist.
The Literacy Specialist is a vital and interesting role within the Read Easy Sheffield Management Team to make sure that all readers get the support they need during their reading journey. You’ll provide literacy support to the volunteer coaches and give advice on specific challenges they may be facing. This voluntary position would be fantastic for someone who has experience with literacy and education, and can be patient and flexible. You will receive training and support from Read Easy UK to develop your skills, and get to work alongside an enthusiastic Management Team. You will play an instrumental part in making sure our group continues to thrive!
What will you be doing?
- Providing literacy support to the Coordinators and Reading Coaches.
- Visiting reading pairs to advise on specific situations and challenges that Readers and Coaches may be facing.
- Contributing to the content, delivery and organisation of coach meetings.
- Finding or creating useful activities and resources that Coaches can use to support and extend their Readers’ learning.
- Attending monthly Management Team meetings.
The role is flexible so you can choose your own hours – you might expect to spend 2 to 3 hours a week on this. To get the most from the role, we expect all Management Team members to support Read Easy Sheffield for at least one year.

The skills you will need:

We are looking for a new Governor for our voluntary-aided boys’ school who has an interest in the creative arts and cares deeply about transforming the lives of young people through education in some of the most disadvantaged and ethnically diverse communities in the UK.
What will you be doing?
About You
This is a great opportunity for anyone passionate about the creative arts to join the governing body of a school that views the creative arts as an essential part of a rounded education.
Applicants must have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work to help improve outcomes for students. Successful candidates will:
- be a member of the governing body
- join one additional sub-committee (Teaching & Learning; Pay & Personnel; Finance; or Pastoral, Premises, Health & Safety)
- act as link governors for the Creative Arts faculty (Link governors act as liaison between the governing body and a particular faculty)
- participate in a range of other ad hoc circumstances where governor involvement is necessary (e.g. periodic meetings with students, staff and parents that usually take place during the day).
Time Commitment
Governors usually spend ~20 hours per term on core governing duties. Successful candidates would be expected to attend up to 4 governing body/committee meetings a term, which usually take place on a Thursday (late afternoon/early evening). They would also need to allow time to read papers and prepare for meetings. The link governor role involves spending one morning or afternoon in school during the year, meeting with the faculty lead and visiting classrooms.
In addition, we are particularly looking for the successful candidate to be able to spend a further 8 – 10 hours per term on ad hoc matters requiring more 'hands on' governor involvement, including meetings with students, staff and parents which usually take place during the school day.

With the recent launch of the Performing Arts Centre at the school, we are particularly interested in individuals with significant experience in the creative arts at this time.

Being a Foundation Governor

Other tasks our volunteers help with include general garden maintenance, DIY tasks or craft/cookery activities.
No gardening experience is required, just the ability to get along with others and muck in! This can be a great stepping stone to further education or work opportunities.

We are looking for volunteers to support our small, friendly warehouse team in Swindon.
If you’d like to make a hands-on contribution to sharing the power of books worldwide, and you have a few hours a week you can offer on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for detail-orientated, proactive people who’d like to use their research or writing skills to help strengthen our funding applications and impact reporting.
As a Research and Bid Support Volunteer, you’ll help identify funding opportunities, gather data and evidence, and support the preparation of grant proposals. You’ll also assist with compiling feedback and monitoring information that helps us demonstrate the difference our work makes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, analysis and writing and wants to gain experience in how charities develop projects and secure funding.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Researching grant opportunities that align with our programmes and priorities
- Helping gather data, statistics and community evidence to support funding applications
- Reviewing funder guidelines and eligibility criteria
- Assisting with drafting or formatting sections of funding proposals
- Collecting quotes, case studies and outcomes to demonstrate impact
- Supporting report preparation and data organisation for monitoring and evaluation

About the role
The Governing Board of Oldham College is made up of a group of 15 dedicated and committed strategic leaders who have gained their experience through a broad range of settings and sectors, including further and higher education, the NHS, local charities, local businesses and globally recognised companies.
As Chair Designate, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the strategic direction, governance and reputation of our College. You will ensure that our Board functions as an effective, cohesive and forward-thinking body that upholds the highest standards of corporate governance. You will inspire confidence and collaboration across the Board, the senior executive team and key external partners, ensuring that every decision aligns with the College’s mission to serve students, employers and the wider community. A key aspect of the role is to develop the Board itself—building a diverse, skilled and engaged team of governors.
Working collaboratively with the Principal & CEO and our other senior leaders, you will achieve the College’s objectives to maintain accountability for performance, financial sustainability and safeguarding.
