Job description

Adult Education Volunteer

Could you share simple skills that could help during a crisis in the local community?

Location: Salford

Hours: Ideally, you'd be able to commit to delivering either one 2-hour workshop per week or several workshops every other week. Workshops usually run on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, occasionally sessions are requested at weekends or evenings.

About the role
We want to give adults in the community the skills to cope in a crisis. That's why we offer first aid training relating to the effects of drugs; alcohol; slips, trips, and falls in the over 65's, homelessness and rough sleepers.

Our adult education volunteers deliver interactive first-aid workshops to enable adults to understand, cope with, and respond to a first aid crisis. This includes adults who may be vulnerable or at risk, their friends & family, carers, or others who support them.

Could adult education volunteering be for you?
We'd love to hear from you if you're positive about educating adults to empower them to understand, cope with, and respond to a crisis.

The role is also an ideal opportunity if you want to gain experience working in education/teaching, learning skills in presentation, facilitation, and teaching.

Don't worry if you haven't done this type of role before; you'll receive full training and support from our friendly team.

While gaining and enhancing transferable workplace skills, you'll have the chance to make a real difference to your local community.

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver interactive first aid workshops to targeted groups of adults.
  • Assist in the planning of sessions and preparation of resources.
  • Evaluation of workshops and associated simple record keeping.
  • Care and maintenance of training resources.

Additional Information
Please note as part of this role; you'll travel to venues to deliver workshops. This may include carrying lightweight equipment or learning materials.

You'll be able to commit to the role for a minimum of 9 months.
