SAIL Derbyshire delivers a range of specialist support services for adult survivors of sexual abuse, incest, and sexual violence. Our trauma-informed approach is client-led, inclusive, and rooted in empathy.Our mission is to enable survivors of current and historical sexual abuse and incest to live safe lives in which they can recover and thrive. We believe in empowering individuals through empathetic, non-judgmental support tailored to their unique needs.

We are seeking a new Treasurer for our experienced governing body. Our Board of Trustees is central to the work of SAIL, taking responsibility for ensuring that the charity operates properly and effectively.

What will you be doing?

Working with the Finance Officer and the senior management team, our Treasurer will play an important role overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees. They will also keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities and liaising with the Finance Officer and Director to develop the financial understanding of the Board of Trustees.

We are looking for a person willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our Board. You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training. 

You'll be a finance professional with experience of bookkeeping standards, financial controls and processes, annual accounts production, budgeting and cash flow forecasting. A clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non finance specialists. 

You will also be willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors.You'll have the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences and a  willingness to be available to give financial advice and answer enquiries from any staff or volunteers on an ad hoc basis. 

Essentially, you'll be committed to the purpose, objects and values of the organisation and be able to maintain confidentiality on sensitive and confidential information.

Could you help SSAFA reach more supporters and raise greater awareness of our services through the magic of social media and digital marketing? You don’t need a military background, just some basic digital skills, the ability to get on with a wide range of people and good written English. If you have I.T or digital marketing experience, that would be great but not essential. We’d love you to get in touch to find out more.

What is a Digital Marketing Volunteer?

There are SSAFA branches and service committees throughout the UK and overseas. We use local microsites and social media to raise awareness of our services, raise funds and find new volunteers. Digital Marketing volunteers help us maximise our message, keep content up to date and increase traffic to our sites.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

Our clients, volunteers and supporters come from all backgrounds and age groups and want to engage with us in different ways too. To offer the best possible service we need to provide seamless communication, consistent messages, and accurate information. When would you be needed and where would you be based?

As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home.

The role would suit someone looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity as times and days could fit in around work and other commitments to suit you.

What would you be doing?

· As part of a team of volunteers, maintain branch microsites and social media feeds.

· Look at ways to increase traffic to microsites and improve SSAFA’s digital brand.

· Keep content current and accurate.

· Support and maintain the SSAFA brand by consistently using our brand guidelines and tone of voice.

· Working with the digital marketing team, interpret analytical data to develop local communication plans.

· Working with local SSAFA branches, build social media channels and integrate on-line and off-line activity to best effect.

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

What are we looking for?

· Friendly and approachable people, possibly with some experience of digital marketing/ IT or social media

· Ability to write in English to a good standard.

· Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with clients, supporters, volunteers, other agencies, and staff.

· Understanding of how social media can be used to engage and influence.

· Ability to use social media applications including adding and editing content.

· Basic understanding of website maintenance, training will be provided.

· Basic understanding of digital analytical tools, training will be provided.

What is a Helper?

SSAFA Helpers provide support to local SSAFA branches, so that the service to veterans and their families can run smoothly. Perhaps you could help out at an event, take care of some office admin, or give a talk about SSAFA?

We have peak times throughout the year when we need extra volunteers. Whether you enjoy organising behind the scenes or being out meeting the public, we need people who can offer some time on a flexible basis.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

This role will suit you if you are looking to volunteer on a flexible basis as and when you are available, and we need extra help. You may be based in an office, at home, or out and about at events.

What would you be doing?

· Helping at public events by staffing stalls, stewarding etc

· Helping to distribute Christmas hampers to clients.

· Giving talks about SSAFA to schools and local groups

· Helping with office tasks like stuffing envelopes, ordering marketing materials

What is a Caseworker?

Caseworkers visit clients to work out what type of support they need. You will listen without judgement to assess and provide tailored support to help those serving, who have served and their families to navigate life in and beyond military service. Some examples of support are securing funding for special equipment for someone with a disability, adaptions to a property so an older client can remain at home or funds for a rental deposit. Caseworkers also sign-post clients onto specialist local services for advice on benefits, housing, mental health, debt, finding work etc.

Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

Volunteer Caseworkers are the lifeblood of SSAFA, supporting a growing number of people in need of financial, practical, and emotional support. Clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like Iraq or Afghanistan.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

The essential part of the role is visiting clients, so you will need access to a vehicle or another way to travel to meet clients at home or in a care home setting. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but you can complete the administration part of the role from home as long as you have access to IT equipment and the internet.

What would you be doing?

• Contacting beneficiaries and arranging to meet them at a mutually convenient time.
• Meeting beneficiaries and completing a form to assess their circumstances, using good communication skills, empathy and understanding.
• Sign-posting clients onto local services providing specialist advice.
• Applying for funding on the behalf of the beneficiary through a specific process and system  
• Arranging for the purchase of goods and services
• Keeping the beneficiary informed of their case progress.
• Liaise with the branch and regional office, regarding your availability.
• Keeping up to date with training and SSAFA news so that you are best able to support clients.
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer, or fundraiser.
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA
• Adhering to SSAFAs policies and procedures at all times, including safeguarding, volunteering policy, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, data protection and confidentiality.

• Role specific training to prepare you for your voluntary role – confidentiality and boundaries, personal safety, caseworker training, and caseworker IT system training. The caseworker training takes 3 days and a further half a day for the other training.
• Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.
• Access to a range additional e-learning courses as well as local opportunities for your personal and professional development.
• Local induction including assigning a person from the team who will be your main point of contact.
• Regular opportunities to meet and share best practice with other caseworkers.
• Range of support from central and regional volunteer operations team.
• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
• Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What are we looking for?

• Friendly and approachable with good listening skills, patience, and a positive attitude.
• Good communication skills both written and verbally.
• Respectful and non-judgemental approach with beneficiaries, their family, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues
• Willingness and ability to use IT systems for initial and on-going training and to enter cases on the Casework Management System. Willingness and ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address which you will be required to use when exercising your role.
• Ability to make enquires on behalf of beneficiaries by phone, email, letter or by filling in forms.
• Ability to keep within boundaries of the role with regards to friendship or giving advice
• Reliable, prompt and trustworthy.
• Access to public transport or a car to travel to appointments with clients.

As a social media volunteer you will be managing and creating content for the charity's social media platforms, monitoring performance and establishing and maintaining active social media accounts.

What will you be doing?

• Creating and managing daily posts across all social media platforms e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Advertising our services, webinars and other events in order to reach more families in need of the support we offer.
• Working in conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop new, engaging content to increase interest, improve our presence, attract followers and drive growth.
• Create posts for the organisations needs as and when needed.

What are we looking for?

• Clear understanding of social media platforms.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive can-do attitude.
• Knowledge of marketing and public relations is desirable.
• Creativity and experience with Canva for content design is also desirable.

The Climate Coalition is recruiting for two new trustees to join us. We are in a strong position as an organisation both internally and in terms of the critical role we are playing in our sector but there is always more to do and we are looking for people who can support and challenge us as we think about our next five years of progress. We have an experienced Board already and are open to recruiting people who have never served on trustee boards before (as well as those that have). 

We are looking for people who have patience as well as drive and are drawn to the opportunities that come with coalition working. You will get to sit alongside some incredible people within the team and Board and bring your insight, thoughtfulness, support and challenge to help us do the best job we possibly can. 

We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in the climate sector and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates who identify as Black, Asian or minority ethnic. We do not require applicants to have previous trustee experience; instead we are looking for people who will devote the time and energy required to help us achieve our ambitious aims at a critical time for the climate sector.

WHO WE ARE

The Climate Coalition came together over 20 years ago and has grown to become the UK’s biggest group of people dedicated to action on climate change, with a combined supporter base of more than 22 million people. We encompass over 130 organisations spanning nature, environment, international development, faith, health, community and women’s groups – from the National Trust, WWF, the Women’s Institute, to Islamic Relief as well as local climate groups. 

People are powerful when they come together: The Climate Coalition platforms and mobilises collective action for climate and nature; develops shared insights and narratives; and provides shared infrastructure to bring organisations together, to channel their collective action and create the space for sustained political change. 

This is an exciting time for the Coalition as we adapt to meet the changing needs of the climate sector. Over the past few months we have refreshed our ideas about how we make a difference in the world (see our website for more details), and are reviewing our governance and how we make decisions. 

WHAT WE NEED 

We are looking to add a number of new trustees from either within or beyond our membership organisations. We are seeking trustees who will be bold and brave; who can contribute strategically across a wide variety of issues and who will support and challenge the Board and Executive Director in its drive for change. 

We are able to provide access to support and training for first time trustees or those who feel they want to build their confidence/understanding in the role of the trustee. 

Whether you work in the climate sector or in a different sector entirely, this is a chance to play a meaningful role in the UK movement. It is not just another governance role; it’s your chance to volunteer for an organisation with an outsized role in, and responsibility for, the climate movement as a whole. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience of community organising. 

WHAT WE WOULD ASK OF YOU 

As a trustee we would expect you to get to know us as an organisation and build a strong understanding of the aims of The Climate Coalition and work collectively with the Chair, the other Board trustees and the Executive Director to help ensure that the Coalition does all it can to fulfil its potential. 

Specifically, as a trustee you will be responsible for ensuring it: 

• fulfils its strategic objectives as set out in our agreed strategic framework;

• is well governed and abides by relevant laws and regulations (training is provided and you do not need to be a legal expert to do this role);

• thinks carefully about how it recruits and how it spends money so that it has the necessary resources, both material and human, to operate effectively and deliver against our mission;

• prioritises EDI in decision making. 

Your commitment will be to: 

• attend our AGM as well as 6 x 2-3 hour trustee meetings per year, of which at least ⅔ will be via zoom, and to pre-read all relevant papers; 

• support our anti-oppression agenda and take part in or contribute to our trainings; as well as our main Board, over time all trustees will also have the chance to sit on and/or lead working groups particularly where you have specialised experience/skills, and attend other meetings where necessary; 

• to review our executive reports that detail how we are doing as and be aware of, and abide by the responsibilities of a charity trustee as set out by the Charity Commission. 

Salary: The role is unremunerated though reasonable travel expenses will be paid. 

Time commitment: Approximately 1-1.5 days/month 

Location: Remote (anywhere within the UK). Occasional travel to London.

About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Personal Assistant to support daily coordination, scheduling, and communication tasks across departments. This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and looking to gain experience in nonprofit administration while contributing to a meaningful community-driven programme. 

Position Overview:
The Personal Assistant will be responsible for organising meetings, managing calendars, supporting internal communications, and assisting in day-to-day administrative operations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth coordination between teams, and offers autonomy, flexibility, and mentorship opportunities for someone looking to develop or apply their administrative and organisational skills in the Third Sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support & Coordination:

• Manage meeting schedules, appointments, and internal calendars.

• Organise virtual events, staff briefings, and team check-ins.

• Support in planning and executing internal conferences or training sessions.

Data & System Management:

• Maintain and update internal databases and contact lists.

• Implement and uphold procedures and administrative systems.

Staff Liaison & Communication:

• Act as a point of contact between managers and teams.

• Assist in internal communications and task follow-ups.

General Administrative Tasks:

• Contribute to internal meetings with updates and suggestions.

• Provide ad hoc administrative support to leadership and teams as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• No specific degree required, but relevant administrative or office support experience is preferred.

Experience:

• Prior experience as an administrative or personal assistant is an advantage.

• Familiarity with coordinating meetings, managing data, or supporting organisational logistics.

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

• Proactive, professional, and able to work independently or collaboratively.

We are looking for someone with a recognised financial qualification or substantial relevant charity financial experience to be our next treasurer, to ensure an effective handover from our current treasurer who comes to the end of their maximum term in October 2025.

Although this is an unpaid voluntary position, reasonable travel expenses will be covered.

Treasurer’s Duties

• Provide strategic financial advice, support and challenge to the board, Chief Executive and Head of Finance
• Maintain an overview of the organisation's financial affairs focusing on maintaining the organisation’s financial viability
• Review quarterly management accounts and advise on their implications and any necessary actions
• Represent and advise on all financial matters including the annual report and accounts
• Work closely with the Chair, CEO and Head of Finance to ensure the smooth financial running and continued financial health of the charity
• Help to deliver the strategy, focusing on increasing impact and sustainability through strengthening income streams and having a secure financial position

Time Commitment
The successful candidate will be required to attend:

• three two-hour teleconference Finance Sub Committee meetings and one face-to-face meeting per year (historically held in London);
• three two-hour teleconference Board meetings per year and one face-to-face meeting (historically held in London);
• Annual Conference in person, annually in November.

What are we looking for?

• Formal financial qualifications and experience are desirable, and it would be useful to have experience of charity finance.
• As an organisation, we work remotely, using IT solutions such as Teams, Zoom and SharePoint therefore location is not relevant, although you should be comfortable with the use of these technologies.
• The Treasurer must be able to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences and report on these to the board.
• The Treasurer must be willing to be available occasionally for advice and enquiries as appropriate.

We are a friendly and well-regarded chamber orchestra based in Somerset. We’re looking for someone with a passion for music and the performing arts, and an interest in helping a small charity to thrive.

You don’t need to be a musician — but it might help! Experience in leadership, charity governance, fundraising, finance, or community engagement would be very welcome.
