Our Mission

Brain tumours do not discriminate, and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly. The Marketing team at The Brain Tumour Charity want to capture more high quality photos of our fundraisers and supporters. Not only do our photos capture the brain tumour community and their amazing efforts to help find cures but they also help create more awareness and engagement of our cause.

How can you help?

As a Volunteer Photographer, you will be present at big fundraising events or carrying out photoshoots with our supporters. This role requires that you are quick to capture those blink-and-you-miss-it moments! Other requirements include:

• Potentially walking a large amount of steps at some events if you are able (The Twilight Walk in London, for example)
• Being prepared for different weather conditions
• Taking portraits and group shots of fundraisers when asked by them
• Sending photos (unedited or edited) via wetransfer or another sharing platform soon after the event has ended

What impact will you have?

Your photos will capture the atmosphere and excitement of big events as well as the emotions that come with fundraisers. Capturing and displaying our community is a key concern for The Charity and your photos make an impact in reaching our goals. Your photos could also be featured on our website, social media and external news outlets with full credit given.

We’re looking for...

Individuals with technical experience in photography, whether that is buddying hobbyists or professionals looking to volunteer their time. You will also need:

• To have your own photography equipment
• An ability to direct people to get the right shot
• An ability to work autonomously

Time commitment

This is a flexible, ad-hoc role and there is no minimum amount of events you need to cover in this role. Photographer shifts at events usually last no longer than 6 hours. We have opportunities to volunteer all across the UK, but we would work with you to ensure that we only offer opportunities within a reasonable travelling distance and therefore the number of opportunities available will be dependent on your location.

Practical considerations

You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18.  We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

Role Overview

We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of Norwich Outpost. As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation fulfils its mission and operates within its legal, financial, and ethical responsibilities. Working closely with the Chair and fellow Trustees, you will provide strategic oversight and support to an evolving and dynamic organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the organisation’s vision, values, and objectives.
• Ensure legal and financial compliance as set out by the Charity Commission.
• Provide guidance and oversight to the curatorial collective, volunteers and contractors.
• Advocate for the charity within your networks and the wider community.
• Attend and contribute to quarterly Board meetings (online).
• Participate in sub-committees or working groups.
• Assist with fundraising, partnerships, and strategic planning as appropriate.
• Contribute ambitious thinking and specialist know-how to help push the organisation towards new heights.

Person Specifications:

We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Prior board experience is strongly desired but not required. We are especially keen to hear from those with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising and development, particularly in the visual arts.
• Marketing, communications, or audience engagement in the contemporary arts.
• Knowledge and experience in longer-term planning of real estate and capital investment projects.
• Equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Sustainability in the commercial arts.
• Local community knowledge and engagement in Norwich or Norfolk.

A bit about this role

We need Fundraising Volunteers to help in and around the Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough area. The postcode areas we are active in are TN1, TN2, TN3, TN4, TN5, TN6, TN7, TN8, TN9, TN10, TN11, TN13, TN14, TN15, TN16, TN17, TN18, TN19, TN20, TN21 and TN22.

We are a movement of people championing the welfare of cats. We lead society in a richer understanding of all cats and care for those that need our help. 

Our Volunteer led branches operate within local communities nationwide and rely on funds donated by generous members of the public to continue to help cats and kittens in need of new homes, supporting owners with neutering, managing trap, neuter and return programmes and educating people about cat welfare. 

Our fundraising volunteers are part of a passionate team that help raise funds to help cats. They help plan and deliver exciting and varied fundraising events, which can be anything from craft fairs, cake sales, sponsored abseils – and anything in between!

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Our Branch is seeking a new Treasurer for our Committee. We would love to hear from a finance professional with a passion for animal welfare!

About us:

RSPCA Lincolnshire Mid, NE & Lincoln Branch rehabilitates and re-homes animals rescued by the RSPCA's national Inspectors. We also promote responsible pet ownership and hold animal action days such as for microchipping.

We currently run three charity shops and regular fundraising events, to rehabilitate more than 100 animals each year, and help them find their forever home.

Our Branch is extremely passionate with twelve Trustees currently forming the Committee.

We have a very strong financial position, with excellent controls, having had the support of a dedicated Treasurer for over 10 years. We are now looking for her successor and would love to hear from you!

What is involved? 

As a Trustee of an RSPCA Branch you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals. 

Our Treasurer acts as principal financial trustee maintaining and administering the accounts of the branch.

What you can bring to our board:

You will have a professional finance qualification or be working towards one, such as CIMA or ACCA. You will ideally have charity finance experience, such as an understanding of gift aid, charity commission reporting requirements and restricted funds.

You will have experience of using finance software, with Xero experience being particularly desirable as it is our current software. You will also be familiar with how HMRC rules work, i.e., PAYE, Employer’s National Insurance and charity rules in respect of VAT.

Our Treasurer is a key role, with responsibilities to:

• implement and maintain sound financial systems in order to retain full control of branch funds.

• take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and forward plan the branch income and expenditure so that the accounts balance in the long term.

• provide a written financial report for every branch meeting showing the branch’s income and expenditure since the last meeting.

• liaise with auditors/independent examiner regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer’s report for the AGM, including SORP statement.

• maintain control of all bank accounts as authorised by the committee. 

• execute and operate branch committee financial decisions and act as branch co-signatory on all branch cheques, if required.

• make quarterly VAT returns via the Branch’s Xero accounting system.

Working with our Branch Manager, the Treasurer will also: 

• maintain control over all branch debit/credit cards, paying-in books and receipt books and to ensure their correct use.

• ensure correct responsibility for the branch network of collection boxes.

• arrange payment of the annual branch contribution to the appropriate RSPCA fund.

• coordinate financial control of all branch fundraising activities.

• ensure the retention and safekeeping of all branch financial documentation for the appropriate time as set by the charity commission.

Additionally, in conjunction with your fellow trustees, our Treasurer will:

• conduct regular reviews of the branch accounts and investment portfolio to ensure the best return on branch funds.

• ensure the production, monitoring and annual review of the branch’s financial risk management strategy in accordance with the charity commission’s requirements.

• liaise with Branch officers and Branch Partnership Manager on financial affairs as necessary and alert them immediately to any possible difficulties or irregularities.

Things to know about the role

You will ideally live and/or work in our branch area in Lincolnshire, UK, to bring local insight to our branch decisions. Our branch covers the city of Lincoln, out to Mablethorpe, Woodhall Spa and Gainsborough, and all the way up to Grimsby. 

We meet monthly as a board, with most of these online but we like to also meet at least 3 times each year in-person, including our AGM, as well as support local fundraising events.

About us: GT Scholars is a charitable social enterprise that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people the support, skills and strategies they need to achieve aspirations. We run a wide range of programmes that help young people achieve their academic and career aspirations, particularly those from less-privileged backgrounds.

Our mission is to empower and develop the next generation of leaders and change-makers and we’re looking for volunteer tutors that are passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives!

If you are an undergraduate or graduate, you could make a difference by joining us as a volunteer tutor. As a volunteer tutor, you’ll need to:

• Have a passion for helping children and young people

• Provide online one-to-one tutoring support for 1 hour week

• Build pupil confidence in English.

• Have strong subject knowledge (confident enough to tutor up to GCSE)

• Work collaboratively with other tutors and mentors

• Have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or be working towards this

Additional information: We’re looking for tutors that can commit to a minimum of 2 academic terms of volunteering.

We will need to conduct reference checks and you will need an Enhanced DBS for this role as you will be working directly with children. We can process this for you or you may submit one if this is less than 3 years old.

• General light housekeeping

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and takes pride in creating clean, welcoming spaces. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team who make a big impact every day.
