Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

Volunteering in one of our Sense Shops will involve a variety of tasks that you can get involved with. These include:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

We are currently on the hunt from some volunteers to help support our weekly Speak Out Central drop-ins.
Speak Out Central is a weekly drop-in for people with learning disabilities in the centre of Brighton, helping to prevent loneliness and social isolation. People get together over a cuppa at main office at the Brighthelm Centre between 2pm and 5pm every Tuesday. We aim to support people to be more involved in their local community and make connections with others at the drop-in and the wider community in the city.
The role involves:
- To help facilitate weekly drop-in meetings with other volunteers and staff
- Work with people with Learning disabilities to become more independent and try new things away from the drop-in
- Support people with learning disabilities to develop supportive relationships and friendships
- Support people with learning disabilities to feel more confident accessing mainstream services.
- Attend induction training and ongoing training as required.
- To work independently as needed and adhere to the Speak Out Codes of Practice for Volunteers and Advocates at all times
- Support people in the decisions they make but not make them for them.
- To challenge discrimination and help people to have their rights upheld.
- To identify at risk clients and follow Speak Out’s safeguarding process if needed

We are looking for a team player with experience of finance and fundraising best practice, preferably within the charity sector, to join our Board of Trustees As we continue to expand our services, our new Treasurer will help us to develop our procedures and strategies to ensure we maintain good governance. Applicants must also be prepared to take on the wider responsibilities of becoming a charity Trustee.
This is a hands on role which requires close working with our CEO, Finance Manager, Chair of Trustees and Accountants. You will help us to review and implement new financial processes and budgeting procedures, develop new investment and fundraising policies and ensure that we operate in line with best practice. As a Trustee you will also contribute to the organisations wider mission and strategy and oversee the running of the Charity.

Caudwell Children are looking for volunteers to help with our family workshops!
Caudwell Children offer a range of parent and family workshops that provide tips and strategies on many of the common difficulties associated with raising a child with disabilities or autism:
Meeting Sensory needs, Language and communication, forming relationships, supporting positive behaviour, Autism and well-being, Change and transition, Eating and nutrition, and Sleep.
Volunteer Responsibilities include:
- Processing applications completing a range of administration tasks such as data entry, emailing families, checking financial documentation, scanning.
- Preparing resource packs to be used during the workshops
- Responding to telephone enquiries and booking families on to workshops
- Researching and contacting organisations and networks whose beneficiaries may be interested in attending the workshops.
- ·Supporting staff with the delivery of the workshop sessions and activities, engaging with and supporting both the parents and the children who attend.
This role takes place on weekdays only between 9 till 5. We suggest a time commitment of 4 hours a week, with a minimum commitment of 6 months for this role – full training and support will be provided.

- Providing practical and emotional support to children and their families across the country
- Processing and completing applications for specialist equipment, therapies and treatment

- Providing an information and signposting service

ECL exists to enhance the lives of people with learning disabilities or autism. Through our
activities at local community centres, we help our members have fun, make friends, learn
