1. Our 4 day programme which takes place over 4 Saturdays at our base Westlea Primary School, Swindon. The time for volunteers is 9am – 2pm on each Saturday. Our aim is to run this 2 – 3 times a year.
2. Our A Day to Remember programme is an intensive 1 day programme which is delivered in venues across Swindon and Wiltshire depending on the needs of our families. The time for volunteers is usually 9am – 4pm. Our aim is to run this 1 – 2 times a year.
In total we expect the commitment for a volunteer to be no more than 4 programmes a year, to include a mix of our 4 day and 1 day intensive programmes. The maximum is likely to be 16 sessions a year. Dates are circulated and volunteers are asked to commit to dates they can attend.

Our weekly art and photography club provides young people with a safe space to express themselves and have their views heard. Young people tell us that having a regular opportunity to participate in arts groups distracts them from their worries and bad experiences and helps to keep them busy.

After18 runs a weekly group for asylum seeking and refugee young women (including victims of trafficking) on a Friday evening at our Leicester city-centre hub. We aim to increase confidence and reduce isolation by encouraging young women to participate in a range of creative and wellbeing activities chosen and led by them. We also offer homework support for students taking Health and Social Care at college and access to opportunities to help them progress in this field.

As a volunteer, you would provide valuable support to the young people at activities which have previously included pizza making, arts and crafts, kayaking, archery and bushcraft as well as a regular group that meets and plays board games and Lego. It would not be necessary to join every activity but regularly enough for the young people to build relationships and trust with you at the group. Duties would involve supporting the Youth Programme Coordinator to get the young people settled at the beginning of the session and making drinks for parents and young people. You may also be encouraging young people who are feeling anxious to participate in activities by being a source of support to them and making them feel more comfortable. Most importantly, you will be supporting the group to stay safe and comfortable while trying new experiences.

The President should be prepared to devote around a day per week to Coram business and be based in or within easy reach of London. The position is unpaid and, when in person, meetings take place at Coram Campus, 41 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1AZ.
