International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) is a UK registered charity founded to create a better future for animals in need. What began as a desire to help one dog in the rainforests of Borneo in 2009 has since developed into a range of projects and support programmes that has supported over 41,000 animals around the world.

IAPWA's Individual Giving team work hard to raise one-off donations from animal lovers to fund our general work, as well as to help individual dogs and cats in need of urgent veterinary care after being rescued from the streets.

The team are now seeking Fundraising Volunteers to take the lead on maximising income from our individual patient appeals (usually ran via JustGiving) by going out into their networks and asking people to donate, as well as seeking new audiences (online and offline) to boost donations. Each month you will focus on helping one individual animal who has been rescued from the streets, meaning your efforts will contribute to this animal getting the veterinary treatment and support they desperately need to have a bright future.

What we're looking for:

You don't need to have any prior fundraising experience. In fact, you may be wanting to break into the charity sector, or just have a desire to help animals. Either way, all you need to succeed in this role is grit and determination, plus a passion for helping stray animals who have nobody else to rely on. Your Key responsibilities will include:

Working in a small team, you will be supporting Choice Directors, and will have responsibility for corporate, major donor and other fundraising. You will get involved with some of the largest grant funders in the UK, including the Big Lottery, Comic Relief, London Council and others.

About the role:

The role of the trustee board is to receive assets from donors, safeguard them and apply them to the charitable purposes of Salcare. The trustee board must always act in the best interests of Salcare, exercising the same standard of duty of care that a prudent person would apply if looking after the affairs of someone for whom they have responsibility. The trustee board must act as a group not as individuals.

Duties of a trustee:

The duties of a trustee are to:

· Ensure that Salcare complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

· Ensure that Salcare pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.

· Ensure Salcare applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects. The charity cannot spend money on activities which are not included in the objects, however worthwhile they may be

· Ensure Salcare develops long-term strategy, defines its goals, and evaluates performance against targets.

· Ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of Salcare

· Safeguard the good name and values of Salcare.

· To ensure the effective and efficient administration of Salcare including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.

· To protect and manage the property of Salcare and to ensure proper investment of the organisation’s funds

· To appoint the most senior staff member and appraise their performance

As well as the statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, and evaluating or offering advice on other areas in which the trustee has particular expertise.

In addition trustees are expected to:

· Be committed to the vision and values of Salcare

· Abide by Salcare’s policies and procedures

· Meet the minimum time commitment including attending the majority of board meetings

Minimum time commitment:

On average the minimum time commitment is between six and ten days per year depending on level of involvement.

Board meetings:

Trustees are required to attend bi-monthly Board meetings for which they are expected to read papers and prepare. Board meetings usually take place at the Salcare main office, Heanor, for up to two hours during working hours: occasionally board meetings may be held remotely using Zoom or Microsoft Office. The timings of Board meetings is regularly reviewed in the light of the practical needs of the trustees.

Planning sessions and team building

Most years trustees will be expected to engage in two half day sessions; these will generally be during the day.

Committees/Working Groups

According to their individual skills and experience, most trustees will be invited to serve on a sub-committee. Some sub-committees are standing committees and meet quarterly, others are fixed term ‘task and finish’ groups.

Other Support

Generally trustees are expected to support in practical ways such as participating in interviewing for senior staff, representing Salcare at events, or engaging in fundraising activity; some of these activities take place during the day.

Term of service

Our practice is for Trustees to serve on the Board for a three-year period at the end of which they may be re-elected for up to two further terms.

Person specification:

Each trustee must have:

· A commitment to the vision, mission and values of Salcare.

· A willingness to meet the minimum time commitment including, on occasions, being available to staff for advice and support.

· Integrity including understanding of, and ability to maintain, confidentiality.

· An ability to analyse and evaluate information and think strategically.

At this time we are specifically looking for up to four individuals with experience of at least one of the following areas:

· Charity Finance including budgeting and year end accounts (Treasurer Role).

· Working with young people and children including experience of Ofsted.

· Corporate Social Responsibility and who have a network with businesses within the region.

· Income generation including the development of Social Enterprise.

· Developing communications strategy including social media.

• Lead Adventure Expeditions: Once trips reach 50% capacity, you will secure a free place on the expedition. Share Psychotherapy is one of Sheffield’s leading mental health charities. Established for over 40 years we offer medium to long term therapy at nominal fees, primarily to people on low incomes. Who we are

Rivers, lakes, and coastal waters across the UK are among the richest and most cherished habitats supporting diverse species of fish, mammals, insects, and plants—they are also some of the most vulnerable. Our rivers and other water bodies have historically suffered from pollution, over-abstraction, and host of other impacts which can prove devastating to fragile water ecosystems.

Fish Legal fights to protect all inland and coastal waters in the UK from pollution and other damage. We use the full range of the law—common, statutory, public, and criminal—and we have a long track record of winning cases and securing compensation to enable our members to restore their waters.

Our solicitors (both English and Scots-qualified) represent Fish Legal’s member clubs, fisheries, and riparian owners in seeking compensation from offenders who cause pollution or other damage to rivers and still waters—the compensation we win goes back to those members to carry out habitat work or re-stock the waters.

We obtain injunctions to prevent activities which threaten to damage the aquatic environment and, if broken, offenders can find themselves in contempt of court and can even be jailed.

Funds raised by Fish Legal as well as funds donated by individuals, angling clubs, and federations are effectively pooled so that no one person must foot the costs of bringing defendants to court.

Our sister organisation, the Angling Trust, is the national governing body for the sport of angling in England as well as a leading voice in the protection and enhancement of the aquatic environment—working alongside partner NGOs to advocate greater environmental protection, lobby for positive change, and influence policy development.

The Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (known as EIDA) is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in our mission to empower employers to act effectively against domestic abuse.

We want our board to be representative of our society and membership and particularly welcome applications from people with lived experiences of domestic abuse, people based outside the southeast of England and in the nations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and from people with experience as a people manager or employer, large or small.

Who we are

We are a free-to-join members' network of employers and a registered charity supporting over 1,500 large and small employers to take effective action on domestic abuse.  Our members collectively employ over 25% of the UK workforce.

Our mission is to equip employers to support their employees affected by domestic abuse and to share best practice with other employers.

We endeavour to bring about constructive change, leading to a society where survivors thrive, and where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

Our Trustees are volunteer board members who play a vital role in making sure that EIDA achieves its mission.  As a group, they:

• Oversee the overall management and administration of the charity.
• Ensure that EIDA has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
• Provide support and challenge to the executive team, enabling EIDA to grow and thrive.

We are seeking up to four new Trustees to join the existing group of eight. 

EIDA has a UK-wide remit with a membership made up of employers, and we want to reflect that across our Trustees.

Trustee duties

Trustees are the people who lead our charity and decide how it is run.  We envisage the trustee duties broadly as:

• Support and provide advice on EIDA’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
• Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
• Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee EIDA’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Review and approve EIDA’s financial statements.
• Provide support and challenge to EIDA’s CEO.
• Keep abreast of changes in EIDA’s operating environment.
• Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect EIDA’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
• Participate in periodic appraisals of the performance of the Board of Trustees, collectively and individually.
• Represent EIDA at external functions, meetings and events.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will contribute to the diversity of thinking on our board.

• Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussions.
• A strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and EIDA’s core values of Collaboration, Empowerment, Versatility, Openness and Kindness.
• Time to commit to supporting the organisation, including attendance at Board meetings (2 hours, 5 times annually), virtual and in-person events (4-6 annually) and any sub committees.
• Ability to build and maintain a healthy network that promotes the aims of EIDA across the business community, to drive member growth, and to enhance EIDA fundraising activities.
• Some experience as an employer or people manager.

Terms of appointment

Position: Trustee

Location: This is a hybrid role, with occasional travel required to Board and network meetings held in central London

Terms: A maximum fixed term appointment of one three-year term followed by a further three-year term

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Time commitment: EIDA’s Board of Trustees meets 4-5 times a year within the working hours of 10-5pm.  Currently meetings are held in London and remotely (Zoom).

Do you have a passion to make a difference to the lives of children and families? Spurgeons Family Charity is seeking three or four new trustees to join our current Board in bringing prayerful wisdom and strategic guidance over the coming years.

Spurgeons is one of the UK’s leading children’s charities, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families for 150 years. Inspired by Christian faith and our founder Charles Spurgeon, we’re here for all families. Together, we create Family Hubs in communities where we’re needed most, with counselling, early years and family support. We partner with local councils and churches to care for every family, putting children and young people first in everything we do. Our services also include helping young carers, providing parenting advice and working with families affected by domestic abuse, and imprisonment.

These services are needed more than ever, particularly as local authorities with tight budgets make difficult choices on where to spend their limited resources. As we prepare for the launch of our new five-year plan in 2025, we are ambitious and hopeful about how we can use our strong financial position and robust level of assets to make a significant impact on many more children’s lives in the future.

To support Board succession planning, we are seeking to appoint new trustees with experience and skills such as:

· Lived experience: we are particularly looking to hear the voice of young people on our Board and especially those with lived experience of children and young people’s support services. We will provide the necessary training, mentoring and support to fulfil the role.

· Fundraising/marketing: this trustee will bring a clear understanding of best practice in fundraising and/or marketing.

· Children’s services: we are looking for someone with senior management or leadership experience in the children’s services sector e.g. within social services/ the care sector, health, education, local authorities or charitable contexts.

· Counselling: this trustee will have understanding and/or experience in counselling, bringing wisdom and insight at a governance level.

· Digital: we seek a leader with experience of digital transformations and entrepreneurship, to provide a strategic view of how Spurgeons can thrive in a digital, audience-focused context.

Given an occupational requirement for these roles to be filled by Christians, we are seeking candidates with a personal and active Christian faith who are comfortable and aligned with the statement of faith outlined on our website.

Cycle Sisters is an award-winning charity which inspires and enables Muslim women and girls to change their lives through cycling.  We're looking for a Business Development Trustee who can provide leadership to Cycle Sisters on growing a charity/third sector organisation.   This individual will play an entrepreurial role, supporting the CEO in scoping out new opportunities and enabling Cycle Sisters to generate income from diverse sources.

Key responsibilities: 

• Provide leadership and new ideas on areas of business development for Cycle Sisters such as: 

  • corporate sponsorship and partnerships

  • service delivery and earned income

  • membership scheme 

  • high net-worth donors 

  • public sector commissioning

  • digital fundraising

• Work with the CEO to identify new opportunities and develop strategies and action plans for identified areas of income generation.   Provide ongoing support to the CEO for the development of these income streams.

• Support the CEO to develop the “business case‟ and pitch for companies, businesses and other bodies to partner with and fund Cycle Sisters

• Network on behalf of Cycle Sisters and develop contacts with businesses, companies and other relevant bodies to assist with income generation 

Trustee statutory duties: 

• To ensure the organisation complies with its governing document

• To ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.

• To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives - the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives, no matter how 'charitable' and 'worthwhile' those activities are.

• To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. 

• To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation. 

• To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

• To ensure the financial stability of the organisation. 

• To protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisation's funds. 

Person specification: 

Specific to the role: 

• Experience at a senior level in any of the following areas: corporate social responsibility, corporate partnerships and sponsorship, business development, earned income, enterprise, high net-worth donors, bid development, membership schemes, digital fundraising 

• High level knowledge and contacts within the corporate sector 

• Awareness of market trends and competitors 

• Excellent networking, influencing and communication skills

• Understanding of Islamic values and ethics, and Muslim communities’ sensitivities which could impact potential partnerships and funding 

• Understanding of the challenges facing small to medium UK charities in generating sustainable income

• Ability and commitment to contribute approximately 4-6 hours per month for this role (in addition to board meetings) 

General Trustee role::

• Commitment to and understanding of Cycle Sisters’ aims and values

• Independent judgement, strategic vision and ability to challenge constructively as well as working collaboratively as part of a team 

• Knowledge of voluntary sector and charity governance
