As a Fundraising Team Member, you will play a vital role in helping SUNSHINE grow from a bold idea into a thriving community charity.

You’ll help us tell the story of loneliness. You’ll help us show why SUNSHINE matters. And you’ll help us secure the support we need to launch our programmes, reach isolated people, and build communities of belonging.

Whether you’re experienced in fundraising or simply confident communicating, writing, or building relationships, you can make a powerful difference.

Your work will help ensure that no one in London has to face loneliness alone.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on your skills and interests, you may support:

• Researching and identifying potential funders, donors, and grant opportunities

• Writing compelling grant applications and funding proposals

• Helping craft persuasive fundraising messages, stories, and cases for support

• Reaching out to local businesses, community groups, and supporters

• Supporting small fundraising campaigns and appeals

• Helping develop fundraising materials, presentations, and pitches

• Assisting with donor stewardship and thank‑you communications

• Contributing creative ideas for raising seed funding

• Working closely with the CEO, trustees, and volunteers to build a sustainable income pipeline

You don’t need to do all of these — we’ll shape the role around your strengths.

• Supporting the organisation of small‑scale community events

• Setting up and packing down stalls, tables, banners, and materials

• Encouraging sign‑ups, sharing information, and answering questions

• Helping create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere at every event

• Supporting basic event logistics (materials, refreshments, sign‑in sheets, etc.)

• Working closely with other volunteers and the SUNSHINE team

The Bid Writer (Grant & Funds) will play a critical role by assisting the manager to prepare the proposal that helps the organization to further develop and establish.

About the Role

Our Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership and strong governance, helping to shape Earthwatch’s direction and impact. Trustees act as ambassadors for our mission, bringing diverse perspectives and expertise to guide our work

The Board meets four times a year, usually for full-day meetings on a Friday, held either in person or online via Microsoft Teams. Meetings usually take place in London or Oxford. Two standing committees — Finance (meets quarterly) and Nominations (meets twice a year) — provide additional oversight. We also form ad-hoc working groups as needed, typically involving staff and trustees, to support strategic priorities or to manage the organisation through a challenging process

Earthwatch Europe has a board of 12 trustees. Trustees come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a wide range of skills and experience, including governance, science, communications and finance. The Chair of the board is supported by two Vice Chairs and an Honorary Treasurer

Role Purpose

To lead the Board of Trustees in providing strategic direction, excellent governance and effective support-and-challenge to the executive team, ensuring Earthwatch Europe delivers maximum impact and builds long-term sustainability.

To join the board as a Volunteer Finanical Director, bringing governance knowledge and strategic thinking to strengthen board effectiveness, uphold the CIC's obligations, and ensure all decisions are made in the best interests of the community we serve.

• Attend two to three board meetings per month, virtual or hybrid, and come prepared to contribute

WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS VOLUNTEER 

Will you use your time and practical skills to help raise funds for the fight against unfit housing and homelessness? 

Will you become part of our Sunderland Warehouse team and make a meaningful difference? 

Whether you’re sorting stock, preparing items for distribution, helping keep the warehouse organised and safe or supporting with online sales, you will play a vital role in supporting our work. You'll be joining a friendly team in a practical, hands-on role where you can share your skills to enable our Shelter shops across the country 

We rely on people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. If that sounds like you, we’d love you to join the team. 

Location: Shelter Warehouse, 244-246 High Street West, Sunderland

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! Volunteers can support for a few hours a day, or a few days a week. 

Availability: Our warehouse is open Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm

Shop volunteering helps fight the housing emergency by raising vital funds that enable Shelter to provide advice and support for people who are experiencing bad housing and homelessness, as well as powering us to campaign for change.

We will speak to you about what your aims are to ensure that the volunteering position you are applying for is suitable. By volunteering you have the chance to learn something new and contribute to a successful organization who is looking to help young people in the UK.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about increasing and representation for disabled families across society. 

What do I have to do?

Attend meetings roughly four times a year to help steer the organisation towards its goals. And using your skill set to help grow and advance our non-profit. 

Part of the fabric of Buttons & Bubbles that wherever possible people who volunteer and work with us have lived experience of disability and or illness, (including parents, carers, siblings and friends) This includes our board members.

Love being out in the community and chatting to people? We are looking for friendly and engaging people with a passion for animals to help raise invaluable funds and awareness in the local area,

This is a flexible role, great if you’re not able to volunteer regularly. Most events are on weekends or bank holidays over the spring and summer.

What you’ll be doing

• Helping at Teckels events like our Spring Fair and Summer Show
• Raising awareness at local fairs and community events
• Researching opportunities and events to attend

What you’ll need

• A passion for Teckels and animals, and the enthusiasm to share this with others
• Friendly and engaging, comfortable talking to a range of people
• Willing to get stuck in and help out, with a good level of fitness

Love being out in the community and meeting new dogs? We are looking for friendly and organised volunteers to run fun dog shows at local events, helping to raise funds for our animals. 

This is a flexible role, great if you’re not able to volunteer regularly. Most events are on weekends or bank holidays over the spring and summer.

What you’ll be doing

• Working in a small team to run a fun dog show. Preparing for the event and driving to the venue in our van.
• Setting up the ring, registering dogs, judging classes and chatting to people about our work.

What you’ll need

• Comfortable being around all kinds of dogs and reading their behaviour
• Confident and engaging, able to announce to groups and talk to people individually
• Good level of fitness and mobility, happy being on your feet for long periods
