We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Chichester and Bognor Regis group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the South East Kent Group. As an Activities Organiser, you will be to bringing together our MS community through engaging and accessible activities. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

We are a very friendly group of 7 volunteers covering a large are of the South East area of Kent from Dover to Hythe and Ashford.  We currently hold a monthly support group meet-up in Ashford 10am - Noon 2nd Thursday in Month, but we would like to expand these in the future in other areas.  We have a support team who do visits and information signposting at the William Harvey Hospital.

We are very keen to expand our activities and would welcome new volunteers with ideas and support in helping us offer more for people affected by MS in our area.

The hours will be suited to compliment your own personal commitments.  If possible 2 to 4 hrs a week would be great if we can develop our services. We have the monthly support meet up which is currently 2 hrs a month but we would like to offer this more often if possible in 2019 to every other week or a new meeting in a different area.  We have group volunteer meetings every 4 months and there are volunteer events held twice a year for all volunteers by MS National Centre so all volunteers in the Kent area can meet up and share their activities and good ideas together.

Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth is a local charity dedicated to providing information, support and advice to individuals and families who live, work or study in Merton or Lambeth. We also work to raise awareness and understanding of the challenging issues affecting our clients and communities.

The Research and Campaigns volunteer will support CAML in its aims by researching and gathering information and evidence from our advisers on key issues adversely affecting residents in the boroughs of Merton and Lambeth, in order to make a positive difference to their lives through local and national campaigns.

Aim of this role

Raise awareness of Research and Campaigns

- Keep up-to-date with trends of the concerns affecting clients locally as well as areas identified by national Citizens Advice, and raise call for evidence

- Research and gather quality information on key issues affecting local residents

- Prepare and provide letters, reports and content about the work of the organisation and the impact of funded services

- Ensure all volunteers/staff are aware of the purpose of Research and Campaigns and how to write evidence forms

- Produce useful, appealing and easily accessible campaign materials and publications for informational purposes.

- Campaign at local and national level

- Feed back to assessors and advisers on the results of their work and provide them with assistance in completing evidence forms.

Locations

This role is based in our Mitcham office with some occasional traveling to our other offices in Morden and Kennington. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

- Understanding of the importance of Research and Campaigns work in identifying key current social issues, and their potential impact on clients

- The ability to build and maintain professional relationships and contribute constructively as part of the R&C team, as well as wider CAML team

- The ability to give feedback clearly and sensitively

- Good report-writing skills with the ability to condense important information and explain to a range of audiences. Able to research, analyse and explain complex information

- You will have good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work towards set deadlines. Ability to work on own initiative, within given guidelines

- Confidence in using a range of IT software to research and analyse data

- Satisfactory references are required before joining the charity

Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

ROLDA UK is registered charity that is dedicated to rescuing stray dogs in Romania, caring for them and ultimately finding them a forever home.

 Foster Carer's are crucial in our adoption process - they allow us to offer a seamless aftercare system that supports dogs if their initial adoptive home doesn't work out. As a foster carer, you will be on hand when you can to step in and offer our dogs a temporary home whilst they await their forever home - meaning we don't have to put our dogs in external kennels.

You will provide our special dogs a home away from home, be instrumental in their training and socialisation, assist in helping them meet their new, potential families. Our dogs come from a range of backgrounds so whilst experience with dogs is certainly useful, it is not necesarry as you will be guided and supported by our experienced team every step of the way. 

We do ask that:
-You are over the age of 23
-You are based in the UK
-You have a car and are confident transporting dogs to the vets/onward home
-Secure garden access
-Ideally no other pets or children but get in touch and we can discuss this on a one to one basis

Office Volunteer

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is seeking a London-based administrative volunteer to assist at its London (Kings Cross) office. This opportunity is ideal for anyone interested in office administration and in being part of an organisation that is changing the way society views and treats animals.

The volunteer will help with the daily operations of PETA’s London office, including assisting with administrative tasks, collecting and organising supplies, preparing mailings, supporting the Fur Amnesty programme, and other tasks which help the organisation run efficiently. Training will be provided, and the volunteer will also have the chance to learn how different departments work together to support PETA’s advocacy efforts.

We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal communication skills who is organised, proactive and committed to PETA’s objectives. A willingness to help with physical tasks such as lifting boxes and transporting supplies is important, and adherence to a vegan lifestyle is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to volunteering two days a week for at least three months.

Although this volunteer position is not salaried, PETA will reimburse travel costs to and from the office (within London).

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.
