This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to provide leadership to a well established, values driven charity at a pivotal moment in its history.

About the role

As Chair, you will lead our Board of Trustees and work in close partnership with our new CEO to ensure strong governance, clear strategic direction and long-term sustainability.

Over the coming year, the Board will be setting the charity’s strategic priorities and overseeing an exciting programme to renovate and future proof our historic building, unlocking new opportunities for community use and income generation. The Chair will play a central role in guiding this work at Board level.

About the roles

We are seeking two exceptional individuals to join our board of trustees, each bringing specialist expertise while sharing general trustee responsibilities for developing our charity in line with our strategy and ensuring compliance with all legal and governance requirements.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to our beautiful countryside while developing valuable skills in charity governance and leadership. You will join a friendly, supportive board where your expertise will be valued and your contribution will make a tangible difference to countryside protection across North and East Yorkshire. We provide initial training, ongoing support and the chance to be part of a passionate team working on issues that matter.

Who we are looking for

Trustee with finance expertise

As finance lead trustee, you’ll lead the development and review of the charity’s financial plan and its investment strategy, manage investment funds and deposit accounts and support and advise the trustee board on investment and finance matters, including financial compliance. You’ll also undertake some treasurer responsibilities by preparing and maintaining accounting records, financial reports and annual financial statements.

We are looking for an individual with experience leading the financial management of an SME or division of a medium to large organisation. You will bring good independent judgement and strategic vision, whilst offering support and challenge to the board.

Trustee with governance & compliance experience

As governance & compliance lead trustee, you’ll support and advise the trustee board on governance and risk management. You will lead on risk management for the charity and on policy development and review. You’ll also undertake some secretary responsibilities, ensuring compliance with our constitution, charity law and regulations.

We are looking for an individual with experience in leading on governance, compliance or company secretarial duties in a commercial or not for profit setting, who has some knowledge of UK charity law and best practice and, if not current, readiness to learn and develop. This person could bring experience as a company secretary, legal, board secretary or risk and compliance/governance professional.

Our trustees are passionate about countryside protection. You will bring strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively and a commitment to our charitable aims. Previous trustee experience is not required as we provide comprehensive training and support.

Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focusing on paediatric hydrocephalus.

Our mission is to make life better for children and their families who are affected by hydrocephalus. We work towards this through:

1. Awareness: delivering workshops and training to help people understand paediatric hydrocephalus.

2. Research: supporting research and funding training for professionals in health, social care and related fields.

3. Signposting and support: helping families find organisations that can offer advice, guidance and peer support.

We are now recruiting a Governance Trustee to strengthen our Board and help ensure our governance framework remains robust as the charity grows.

The Governance Trustee will play a key role in supporting good oversight, strong policy development and effective decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Supporting the Board in maintaining strong and effective governance.

• Ensuring policies are reviewed regularly, compliant with current legislation and embedded in day-to-day practice.

Attending and actively participating in:

• Six Board meetings per year (usually held on the third Sunday of every other month from 18:00–19:30 via Teams).

• Quarterly Fundraising and Risk Group meetings (1.5 hours, evening).

• Two 1-2-1 meetings per year with the Chair of Trustees.

• The charity’s AGM and any additional meetings or events as needed • Providing occasional input on matters raised by the CEO, Trustees, staff and volunteers.

Feeling Strong is an exciting Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and wellbeing challenges by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people for the benefit of young people, and we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing. We support stable recovery journeys for young people, lead campaigns to tackle societal issues, develop quality resources based on our own research, and tackle the disparity they face in unemployment, underemployment and accessing opportunities like further and higher education.

YOUR COMMITMENT

Whilst the Trustee Board meets for formal meetings 6 times a year, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the organisation more widely, taking part in fundraisers, external events, strategic planning and advising the staff team when needed. The average contribution expected of Trustees is around one - two hours per month.

Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.

About the role:

The Treasurer works alongside fellow trustees and relevant staff to oversee Humanimal Trust’s financial strategy, planning and management. As a Trustee, you'll have expertise in HR and want to use your skills to make a real impact, influence positive change, and help us deliver our vision for the future.

You will:

• Contribute to the governance and oversight of the organisation.

• Provide a strategic perspective on HR matters, including workforce planning, policies, and compliance.

• Support the Board in ensuring best practice in people management and organisational development.

What we're looking for:

• Someone who will bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board

• Proven experience in HR leadership or senior advisory roles.

• Strong understanding of employment law, HR strategy, and organisational culture.

• Experience in improving equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace

• Commitment to our mission and values, with the ability to work collaboratively.

The role is voluntary, with a commitment of approximately 4-6 hours per month.

About us

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development.

West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and Cyprus. Each squadron is supported by a committee of trustees who oversee governance, fundraising, and community engagement, helping ensure incredible opportunities for young people.

What’s involved

Being a trustee is a simple but highly impactful way to support your local squadron:

• Attend quarterly meetings (around two hours each)
• Discuss finances, fundraising, priorities, and squadron activities
• Take part in decisions, especially financial and strategic matters
• Support events, networking, or community initiatives

Typical commitment: 8-12 hours per year.

Who we’re looking for

Trustees come from all walks of life. No military, youth work, or charity experience is required. Trustees actively participate in meetings and decisions – there’s no obligation to take on an elected role.

Eligibility:

• Must be 20 years or older.
• Must have lived in the UK for 3 or more years.

Useful skills (optional but welcomed):

• Finance, budgeting, or business management
• Fundraising or grant writing
• Event planning or project management
• Governance, committee, or leadership experience
