Job description

Varied and flexible placements 

We have a range of volunteering opportunities available across the UK. These can be one-off phone calls or emails, 2-6 hours of support in person or remotely, or working long term with a group over 3-9 months (around 4-8 hours a month, predominantly face-to-face).

As a Sported volunteer you can choose to deliver either short or long-term support or a combination as suits you.

What’s involved? 

The tasks and assignments you are asked to undertake will be based on your skills and expertise and will differ depending on whether it is a short-term or long-term placement. 

Here are some examples of what this might include: 

  • Reviewing a grant application and providing feedback 

  • Supporting a Sported member to ensure that they have the documentation, governance and processes in place to be eligible for general grant funding.

  • Providing guidance on sources of funding information

  • Supporting exploration of local and national funders

  • Supporting a funding application

  • Providing constructive feedback to develop fundraising skills and knowledge within the Sported member organisation 

  • Encouraging long term funding planning and management 

  • Supporting the Sported member to develop a funding strategy to achieve their business plan. 

  • Raising awareness of the importance of grant monitoring and evaluation and grant reporting

  • Facilitation/ supporting positive meetings focussed on funding with the Sported member’s committee/directors
