Marie Curie Companion is a professional service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of the volunteers delivering the service.
Companion Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support, practical support, short breaks for carers and help with signposting for information and support.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Carry out weekly visits with the person(s) you’re supporting, as agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator. This could be in a variety of settings, eg family home, a care home or in the community.
- Provide one-to-one companionship and support.
For example: offering a listening ear and spending time engaging in every-day conversation, activities or hobbies with the person you are supporting. Helping with small, daily tasks, e.g. making tea or accessing the internet. Allowing carers to have a short break. This may involve offering emotional support, signposting to relevant local support services or finding out information as requested
(This is only an outline as support will vary according to individual needs. Companion volunteers do not provide nursing or personal care, or offer counselling or advice)
- Keep your manager informed of any changes to the situation, or any significant happenings in connection to the person you’re supporting and/or their family, either in person or by phone
- Submit regular visit reports to your manager and update relevant computer systems as required
- Be reliable and committed to regularly spending time with someone and offering support
- Attend individual sessions with your Volunteer Co-ordinator, training and group events as required
- Represent the Marie Curie Companion service positively to those using the service

IHF is currently seeking pro-bono Graphic Design Firms and Individual At-Home Volunteers for our Graphic Design Team.

GRAPHIC DESIGN FIRMS and INDIVIDUALS will collaborate directly with the Director of Fundraising and Marketing. IHF materials are marketed towards multiple geographies, both locally in the communities we work with and on a global platform.
An At-Home volunteer in this position will:
- Assist our Media Team in visual editing of content for social media platforms or website design.
- Develop materials for our Fundraising Team such as posters, flyers, infographics etc.
- Create original volunteer recruitment campaign materials

Global Girl Project (GPP) is looking to bring on a new Trustee to join our Board. We are looking for an engaged, entrepreneurial and committed individual to join our Board and contribute to the mission of GGP. Our mission is to build an ecosystem dedicated to mobilising socially-minded and community driven girls to become leaders for their families, communities, countries and the world.

On Tuesday 18th June, the London Legal Support Trust (LLST) will host the London Legal Walk for a very special 20th time, bringing the legal community together to commemorate this anniversary and raise funds for free legal advice agencies across London and the South East.
Last year, over 16,000+ legal professionals from over 900 organisations took on the challenge. To make this event a success, we are on the look-out for 1 day event marshals to join one of the largest single day fundraising events in the country and add value to the thousands of event attendees.
The event is attended by high ranking judiciary, the President of the Law Society, the Lady Chief Justice and hundreds of London's top law firms. Want to be part of this special day and add skills to your CV? Take a look at some of the tasks below:
Tasks:
- You will be positioned at a “cheer point” along the 10km route where it will be your role to cheer and motivate walkers and offer support and encouragement as they go past. Your presence alone is enough to motivate thousands across the line, and ultimately raise as many funds as possible through a positive event experience. Regular email contact and a full brief in are provided so you are fully confident of supporting this event.
- Answer any questions walkers may have (you will be provided with an information pack about your point on the route).
- Other event stewards will support us in our cloakrooms and at the street party finish line on Carey Street.
- Enjoy the street party after your slot!

- A full brief on the day so you are super confident to do your role
- Always buddied up with somebody else on a station.
What to bring:
- We recommend bringing hats, sun cream, and plenty of water. We also suggest you bring layers for the evening as it may still to get cold in the evening.
- Wear clothes you will be comfortable in especially comfortable shoes like trainers
- Feel free to bring your own food. You will have plenty of opportunities to go and grab something if you need (although food packs are provided by LLST)

What you’ll be doing
We’re on the lookout for a Social Media Assistant/Content Creator to join our high-performance Social Media Team. Some of the things you’ll be doing week-to-week includes:
• Assisting creating creative and engaging social media strategies for our platforms,
and enacting them day to day
• Managing the day-to-day posting of a particular social media channel such as
LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok and LinkedIn

We are looking for a Chair of Trustees who is passionate about the cause but also keen to get involved and help drive the charity’s strategic direction.
Working for a small Muscular Dystrophy family charity, you will work closely with trustees and the charity’s founder and CEO to drive the organisations strategic direction.

The Role
You will work closely with the charity’s founder and CEO but also you will lead the trustees in strategy, good governance, and policy development. As part of this engagement, the Chair will provide support to the CEO, including supporting his wellbeing and ongoing professional development.
Other duties will include:
· When necessary, ensure the Chair and Trustees challenge the CEO constructively and only in the best interests of the charity as ‘critical friends’.
· Liaising with the Charity Secretary, and the CEO with drafting agendas and supporting papers for Trustee meetings, ensuring provision of timely information and sharing with all.
· Ensure charity business is covered efficiently and effectively in meetings.
· Undertake a leadership role to ensure that board members fulfil their governance responsibilities and that trustee decisions are acted upon.
· Maintain trustees’ commitment to board renewal, succession planning and trustee performance reviews, in line with the governing document.
· Ensure board and trustee performance is reviewed annually.
· Ensure the performance of the CEO is reviewed annually.
The Chair will also ensure that Trustees make an effective contribution and are engaged, fully involved and invested in the charity in discharging their responsibilities.
Time Commitments
· The time commitment required to fulfil the Chair role will be somewhere between 2-3 days per month
· MHF’s Trustee Board meets virtually once every 2 months, for 2 hours, within the financial year (1st Mar – 29th Feb)
· The Chair & trustees are encouraged to attend and engage with at least one Muscle Dream programme per year
· The Chair will conduct an annual review meeting with each trustee, outside of any other trustee meetings
· The Association of Chairs (AoC) are an independent association of Chairs of social purpose and not-for-profits – formed to help Chairs with their unique task to lead the board in delivering the organisation’s aims – the AoC offer some excellent resources including Chair Training (if required)

About You
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to bring their leadership and communication skills to the fore. Previous trustee experience and charity governance are essential.
You will not only have experience of being a charity trustee or someone who has held a senior management role, but also an individual who has a keen sense of strategic purpose, underpinned by an inclusive and compassionate style of leadership.
We are open to applications from those with relevant senior level charity experience and would love to hear from people with experience of income generation, small charity or small business leadership experience as well as experience of governance in a small charity.
