Cycle Sisters is an award-winning charity which inspires and enables Muslim women and girls to change their lives through cycling.  We're looking for a Business Development Trustee who can provide leadership to Cycle Sisters on growing a charity/third sector organisation.   This individual will play an entrepreurial role, supporting the CEO in scoping out new opportunities and enabling Cycle Sisters to generate income from diverse sources.

Key responsibilities: 

• Provide leadership and new ideas on areas of business development for Cycle Sisters such as: 

  • corporate sponsorship and partnerships

  • service delivery and earned income

  • membership scheme 

  • high net-worth donors 

  • public sector commissioning

  • digital fundraising

• Work with the CEO to identify new opportunities and develop strategies and action plans for identified areas of income generation.   Provide ongoing support to the CEO for the development of these income streams.

• Support the CEO to develop the “business case‟ and pitch for companies, businesses and other bodies to partner with and fund Cycle Sisters

• Network on behalf of Cycle Sisters and develop contacts with businesses, companies and other relevant bodies to assist with income generation

About our Conversation Class Teacher volunteer role

IRMO’s ETE Programme aims for its beneficiaries to build skills to start and progress in the UK education and labour market and increase civic, cultural, and social participation in the broader community. The Conversation Class Teacher volunteer will deliver IRMO Conversation Class lessons as suitable, required and in support of our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision for adults. You will work closely with the ETE Education Assistant to support language development among IRMO ESOL Courses learners, following a scheme of work and basic course outline and planning the lessons at beginner and advanced levels (as allocated) according to your teaching approach, methods and techniques.

Main tasks and responsibilities of the role:

● Planning, preparing and delivering high-quality lessons to a range of classes and levels in a community setting.

● Providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for learners, reinforcing and practising English focusing on particular areas of the learner's language.

● Ensuring learners’ participation during classes and monitoring attendance.

● Providing opportunities for social engagement to support learners to become more independent (eg. explaining necessary processes about daily life).

● Promoting and encouraging language improvement (eg. motivating learners to participate in language learning activities such as conversation classes).

● Undertaking any other administrative tasks, consistent with the purpose of the role as required.

Spark! are a growing youth employment charity and are seeking to strengthen our Board through the appointment of 5 new trustees with a passion for supporting young people in to pathways towards meaningful and sustained employment and rewarding careers.

We are particularly looking for trustees who can demonstrate skills or experience in one or more of the following areas to enhance our Governance.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join IRMO and be part of the Latin American Youth Forum  (LAYF). LAYF is a youth-led group based at IRMO for migrant and refugee young people aged 13-19 where activities are offered in a trilingual space (Spanish, Portuguese and English). LAYF ensures that everyone can feel safe and supported to overcome barriers and find their feet in the UK. At LAYF young people can: ➔ Learn English through fun and engaging weekly ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes. ➔ Learn new skills and get inspired through weekly educational, art and theme-based workshops. ➔ Get support to access education, volunteer and employment opportunities through a targeted mentoring programme. ➔ Lead the LAYF Youth Steering Group, learn about leadership and inspire other Spanish and Portuguese-speaking young people. ➔ Explore London and its surrounding through cultural trips and residentials. The LAYF Volunteer Mentor will deliver a programme of 8-12 mentoring sessions focusing on the personal, educational and professional development of each mentee. They must be fluent in Spanish or Portuguese, and English and have availability to support young people on weekdays during out-of-school hours. The sessions can take place at IRMO or remotely as it’s most convenient for the mentee. 

MAIN TASKS

● Plan and deliver a targeted mentoring programme suited to the needs of each mentee.

● Write accurate mentoring notes during/after each session and discuss progress at regular supervision meetings.

● Allocate some time to research on the best way to support the mentee and any resources that might be beneficial for the session and for them to work on.

● Carry out regular monitoring & evaluation tasks.

● Meet regularly with the Youth Worker & Mentor to check on the progress of mentees

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO IS/HAS:

● Fluent in English and Spanish, or English and Portuguese (essential).

● Some experience in mentoring young people in school or out-of-school setting.

● Aware of the issues facing migrants, especially children and young people, in the UK.

● A warm, friendly, patient and empathetic approach towards young people with complex needs.

● Good time management and organisational skills to be able to deliver regular mentoring sessions.

● Ability to set own work priorities, take initiative and work independently with the young people.

● Some knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in the UK.

We are currently on the hunt from some volunteers to help support our weekly Speak Out Central drop-ins. 

Speak Out Central is a weekly drop-in for people with learning disabilities in the centre of Brighton, helping to prevent loneliness and social isolation. People get together over a cuppa at main office at the Brighthelm Centre between 2pm and 5pm every Tuesday. We aim to support people to be more involved in their local community and make connections with others at the drop-in and the wider community in the city. 

The role involves: 

• To help facilitate weekly drop-in meetings with other volunteers and staff
• Work with people with Learning disabilities to become more independent and try new things away from the drop-in 
• Support people with learning disabilities to develop supportive relationships and friendships 
• Support people with learning disabilities to feel more confident accessing mainstream services.
• Attend induction training and ongoing training as required. 
• To work independently as needed and adhere to the Speak Out Codes of Practice for Volunteers and Advocates at all times 
• Support people in the decisions they make but not make them for them. 
• To challenge discrimination and help people to have their rights upheld. 
• To identify at risk clients and follow Speak Out’s safeguarding process if needed

The need for a volunteer account has risen due to the unavailability of our volunteer whop had been kindly offering the service over the last  few years.As a Volunteer Accountant, you'll collaborate with our leadership to prepare and submit annual accounts to HMRC within the next month. Your expertise will ensure accuracy and compliance, contributing to our mission's success.

What are we looking for?

You should be available in the first half of May 2024 to help with the task. We seek a qualified accountant with several years of experience. Attention to detail, integrity, and strong analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in financial software and knowledge of HMRC regulations are mandatory.

Trustees play a vital role in making sure that Candlelighters achieves its core purpose by overseeing the overall management and administration of the charity. Candlelighters has recently been shortlisted for a Charity Governance Award

Time commitment: Trustee meetings are held quarterly in the evening (either in person or via Teams), with additional time required for preparation. We have an annual Hearts & Minds Workshop which is usually a full day in November. There are also opportunities to join sub-committees if you wish.

About TESYouth
TESYouth (Training, Employment Opportunities & Social Development for Youth) is a NFP social enterprise which focuses on improving the rate of youth employment, through volunteering, interactive and skill-based workshops, work-experience and training programmes. Together with our strategic partners, we collaborate with organisations to provide youth to develop their skills, and to assist in achieving their career aspirations.

As a Communications Volunteer, you will help with the administration of our team newsletter NEWSROUND and our social channels. Additionally, you will support with the facilitation of our internal events. You will support the Communications Manager to communicate the great work we are doing to promote Equality, Diversity and Identity, both internally and externally.

As a METRO Youth Volunteer, you would be an integral member of the youth team in supporting the Lead and Support Workers in the delivery of the weekly groups. These are held in London boroughs and Medway, Kent. You would be responsible for tasks such as setting up the space and activities, chatting with young people and supporting the facilitation of activities. Your support would enable the lead worker to provide more one to one support as necessary and help in the overall management of some very vibrant groups as well as supporting future advertising and promotion to encourage more participants for some of the quieter groups.

My Death, My Decision campaigns for a compassionate assisted dying law to help end unnecessary suffering for the terminally ill and those suffering unbearably. You can lead its strategic initiatives and inspire the team to achieve the goal.

What will you be doing?

As our current Chair must step down at the end of 2024, we are seeking a Chair elect to join the board no later than the end of the first quarter of 2024. This will allow shadowing of the current Chair to ensure a smooth transition, by maintaining continuity and facilitating a seamless handover of leadership.

As the Chair of My Death, My Decision, you will play a pivotal role in leading our organisation to further our campaign goals. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about the cause either from personal experience or from professional engagement with those making end of life choices.

You will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record of strategic thinking and decision-making, whether in the context of a campaign, a charity or a not-for-profit company. Your leadership should inspire and guide our team towards achieving our mission, making a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance: Oversee the governance of My Death, My Decision, including chairing board meetings and member meetings, ensuring effective decision-making processes and working closely with the Director of Finance.

• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills to develop and execute a campaign strategy in collaboration with other board members and small team of MDMD staff.
• Governance skills: Previous experience around not for profit governance.
• Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to act as a spokesperson for the organisation, in particular towards bodies such as the Houses of Parliament, medical associations, the media etc.

The Alice Ruggles Trust was established in 2017 after the death of Alice following a tragic stalking case perpetrated by her ex-boyfriend.  The Alice Ruggles Trust is a charity that educates young people under 25 about stalking; it is our mission to foster generations of young people who understand stalking, the potential risks of stalking, and what they can do about it. 

We’re looking for a skilled volunteer who can contribute to the Board, as well as provide strategic and operational fundraising advice and guidance. 

As a Trustee with fundraising expertise, you will work with fellow Trustees and staff to advise on the financial stability of the organisation. 

The role holder will be responsible for: 

• Working with the Board of Trustees and the Strategy and Development Manager to develop the overall governance of the charity’s fundraising operations. 

• Contributing to a fundraising strategy that will develop the breadth of fundraising activity, including assessing the risk of new fundraising directions. 

• Supporting the Engagement Officer to develop and deliver robust systems, policy, and procedures for managing donations and supporter information.

The Alternatives to Violence Project is a network of skilled volunteers who run workshops for anyone who wants to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence. We work in the community and in prisons.

We are currently seeking an individual who will have commitment to AVPB organisation and its objectives to join us as Company Secretary.

What the Company secretary role entails: 

- The company secretary’s role is generally to make sure the charity follows company law.

- Company secretary may also produce legal documents for the charity as authorised by the board.

- Company secretary will take on a number of administrative duties to support the board – one of the most important being to take minutes of board meetings. Another one is to ensure that company records with Charity Commission and Companies House are up to date and accurate.

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) serves people who want to handle conflict well without using or suffering violence, whether physical or psychological. Our trained volunteer facilitators deliver intensive, low-cost, conflict-resolution skills workshops in the community, in prisons and in other settings. We reach diverse communities, attracting people from across a wide spectrum of ages, ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic backgrounds.
