Who we are looking for
We are looking to appoint a trustee with expertise in human resources and organisational development who shares the RCSLT’s values and behaviours and wants to help us deliver our ambitious Five Year Vision.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of and experience in Organisational Design, Development and/or Effectiveness. They should be able to demonstrate how they have used their skills in supporting at least one organisation in maximising its effectiveness. They should have a working knowledge of general HR topics and can demonstrate how they have worked with leaders to maximise the potential and efficacy of the people they lead. Formal CIPD or similar qualifications are welcomed but not essential.
This post may be attractive to either a Speech and Language Therapist or a member of the lay public who is looking to broaden their experience in shaping the strategic direction of a charity.
Along with the general duties for a trustee, we hope that the successful individual will bring the following to the specific role:
- To provide strategic guidance and support governance of our people strategy and its implementation.
- Help identify areas of opportunity and risk in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies and other Organisational Development workstreams.
There is no expectation for applicants to have a background in Speech and Language Therapy and as such the role is open to non-members. Successful applicants will receive a full induction to fulfil their role.

LRMN exists to empower refugees and other migrants and to bring about systemic change to remove the challenges they face. Our services include providing specialist legal advice on immigration, housing and welfare, supporting those who need to improve their skills through training and volunteering as well as helping them gain employment. We support women who survived gender-based abuse including rape, trafficking, domestic violence and more and we offer them 1:1 counselling and therapeutic activities. In addition, we provide mental health and well-being support to those who are suffering from non-clinical mental health issues. We advocate and campaign against policies that are not fair and just and which uphold hostile environment. We also provide hardship funds and food parcels to destitute clients.
As a trustee you will be expected to attend a quarterly board meeting, join a sub-committee which also meets quarterly and offer support relevant to your expertise. We have three sub-committees: Organisation Development; Finance, Risk and Compliance; and Fundraising and Marketing. Meetings normally take place in the evening from 6pm and last about 2 hours. The Green House Bristol is looking for a new Trustee. As Trustee, you will play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the charity and ensuring good governance.

3 in 20 girls and 1 in 20 boys will experience sexual violence before they turn 18. Yet, with access to the right help, children and their families can heal and recover. The Green House offers this lifeline, delivering the only specialist service to children, young people and families who have experienced sexual abuse living in Avon and Somerset.
We are currently recruiting for a new Trustee to join our Trustee board. As a Trustee of The Green House, you will contribute to ensuring that the charity fulfils its mission, operates effectively, and remains accountable to survivors of child sexual abuse, and their families.

Terms of appointment
Terms of office
-
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office, with renewal for two further terms to a maximum of three years.

This is a voluntary position, but all reasonable expenses are covered.
Time commitment (Approximately 2-4 days a month)
-
Attend monthly Board meetings. These are typically held on a Thursday evening at 6pm. Most meetings are virtual although we do meet in-person on a quarterly basis.

Additional time is needed to take ownership of actions that arise from meetings (from supporting with recruitment and exit interviews where appropriate, to attending events on The Green House’s behalf). You will also need to be flexible in responding to emergent time-urgent issues when they arise.

We also ask Trustees to attend an initial induction day at The Green House, The Green House’s annual Festival of Activism against Child Sexual Abuse (1 day in early February) and spend a strategy day with the staff team (typically 1 day September). From time to time, depending on the nature of the Fundraising activity it may be necessary for Trustee’s to attend fundraising events/meetings with the CEO.

Our english program for native childrens takes place in marginalized communities in the Central Andes of the Central Andes of Peru giving these children the opportunity to gain basic English skills that can help in their future education and increase your employability, as well as being open to more general knowledge.
one of our objectives is to teach this language, especially to children, as a means of self-improvement and education, since they lack the financial resources necessary to learn English.
This program will provide the opportunity for many children from populations that live in extreme poverty and will not have the opportunity to study in a private school, we develop classes from basic pronunciation materials, sentences, colors, communication, verbs and other important subjects. In addition, it is a way to improve the level of Spanish that the volunteer has, due to the continuous interaction of languages, all of this developed in a direct, entertaining and fun way.

During the last few years we have been working with international volunteers from all over the world developing activities and projects aimed at the organization and empowerment of groups of Andean migrant women in areas and populations in extreme poverty, in the Peruvian Andes.
We focus on aspects such as gender equality, gender issues and sociocultural exclusion of internal immigrants, domestic violence, sexuality, reproductive and preventive health, nutrition and other topics related to these.
Our way of working is quite direct, developing our work face to face in the same place and setting of social and cultural reality, with a well-coordinated teamwork between the organization, the volunteers and the communities, enabling a greater and better impact. . positive in the lives of these people
