We aim to centre the voice of our clients in all our work, including by working with a Community Advisory Board of 12 refugees and asylum seekers in the UK to ensure their experience and expertise shapes our UK programmes.

IRC UK’s Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees are responsible for overall good governance of IRC UK and supporting us to deliver against our strategic plan in areas such as programmes, fundraising, policy and advocacy, communications, people and culture, finance and operations. As of May 2026, we have 11 Trustees with a broad range of experience and expertise across areas relevant to IRC UK’s work, ensuring as a collective they can perform their strategic, supervisory and governance duties well.

The roles

In 2025, we saw a dramatic collapse in international aid and a retreat from global cooperation, despite unprecedented levels of humanitarian need. This trend is continuing at pace in 2026 with rapidly escalating global conflict amplified by climate change and entrenched poverty. In the UK, we are working to protect the rights of refugees in an increasingly challenging media and political environment.

In this context, we are seeking two new Trustees to lend skills and expertise in areas which we have identified as critical to strengthening the Board’s capability for the years ahead. These will replace Trustees nearing the ends of their terms. The successful candidate(s) will have:

Essential experience:

· Senior leadership experience within a complex international and matrix-structured organisation (charity, NGO, public, private);

· Strong leadership skills, and the ability to support and challenge executive leadership (including the ability to think critically and ask the right questions);

A growing women’s empowerment social enterprise in Uganda is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial systems.

The organisation supports over 300 women artisans, including single mothers, widows and teenage mothers, through vocational training and income generating opportunities linked to handmade crafts.

As international sales opportunities grow, the organisation wants to ensure its finance processes remain practical, sustainable and fit for purpose.

The volunteer will work with the Founder and Managing Director to review internal processes and controls, support effective use of Zoho Books, review the chart of accounts, improve budgeting and cashflow forecasting, develop simple management reporting tools and support audit preparation.

This would suit a hands on volunteer comfortable working closely with a small local team.

Teach A Man To Fish is an international educational charity with one all-encompassing mission: to empower young people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work and life. We use our school-business model to guide young people and their teachers in the planning and setting up of student-led school businesses that are both educational and profitable. Since 2006, we have supported over 438,000 young people and trained 19,000 teachers through our programmes to set up school businesses which have generated more than $2,000,000 in income! In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting schools worldwide, we launched a new programme: the Enterprise Adventure, a free mobile app for teenagers who want to learn about business and have a positive impact on their community.

The role:

We are looking for one or two volunteers to support the work of our International Programmes team. The ideal candidate will be available to volunteer for 15 hours per week for at least 3 months (ideally more). If you are based in London, you are welcome to volunteer from our office in Finsbury Park, otherwise you may volunteer from home if you prefer. 

You will have the opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of tasks depending on your skills, interests and the time of the year. These include but are not limited to:

• Helping to deliver our marketing strategy (e.g. social media content creation, website updates, carrying out research to increase our reach)

• Helping to deliver our communications and engagement strategy to programme participants (liaising with and engaging young people and teachers through newsletters, blog posts, social media, videos and WhatsApp)

• Supporting with designing educational materials and thinking of business quizzes (knowledge-based and trivia-based)

• Supporting with coordinating the review of School Enterprise Challenge, the Enterprise Adventure and the Trash To Cash Challenge submissions and sending feedback and certificates 

• Contributing to the Monitoring & Evaluation of the programmes through data analysis to inform donor reports and programme improvements

• Gathering and analysing feedback from programme participants (for example through surveys and ‘user testing’ sessions on Zoom) 

The successful candidate(s) will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive can-do attitude, with lots of initiative.

Fundraising and Communications Internship  

We are seeking a Fundraising & Communications (F&C) Intern to support our peacebuilding mission through strategic communications, donor engagement, and fundraising activities with European supporters. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development communications, while contributing to meaningful peacebuilding work in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

Concordis Internships are designed as a two-way learning opportunity. The Gender and Development Network (GADN) brings together expert NGOs, consultants, academics and individuals committed to working on gender, development and women’s rights issues.

GADN is currently advertising for two Membership Communications Volunteers to support our Secretariat. These roles would be suitable for those with a passion for international development and women’s rights and an interest in communications and membership admin.

Each role is for half a day - one day per fortnight for at least six months (hybrid working, but mostly work from home). Key tasks include processing membership enquiries and compiling engaging and informative content for our weekly membership newsletter.

• Conduct initial screening calls and interviews to assess volunteer fit, skills, and motivation.

• Support hiring teams with interview invitations using Google iCal Link

• Ensure recruitment decisions reflect Solution Community’s values of compassion, integrity, and inclusivity.

Recruitment Operations & Processes

• Improve and maintain recruitment workflows, templates, and documentation.

• Track and report recruitment metrics to leadership (applications, conversion, placements, etc.).

• Collaborate with the onboarding team to ensure smooth transitions from selection to onboarding.

Volunteer Experience & Engagement

• Create a welcoming, supportive recruitment experience for all applicants.

• Provide timely communication and updates throughout the recruitment lifecycle.

• Gather feedback from candidates and teams to strengthen the volunteer experience.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor junior recruiters and assist in training new recruitment volunteers.

• Partner with People Operations, Onboarding, HR, and Program teams to ensure alignment.

• Serve as an ambassador for Solution Community’s mission, values, and culture globally.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, volunteer coordination, or related HR roles.

• Ability to manage high-volume recruitment pipelines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

• Strong communication, interviewing, and interpersonal skills.

• Passion for community building, social impact, and supporting global volunteers.

• Comfortable working in a remote environment across multiple time zones.

Preferred

• Experience in non-profit, volunteer-based, or international organizations.

• Familiarity with recruitment systems, applicant tracking tools, and digital collaboration platforms.

• Experience mentoring or guiding recruitment teams.
