The Grants Coordinator plays a crucial role in securing funding for our organization, which is a small but highly effective charity which uniquely acts as the collective voice of the views and concerns of all unpaid Mental Health Carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston. We are recognised in this campaigning role by statutory services who engage us as active members of decision-making committees. We also partner with other relevant organisations.

We assist individual Carers with 1:1 advice, guidance and self-empowerment, also having a monthly Peer-Support Group.

We are keen to further develop our services and, for this, we invite a volunteer with financial experience to help us achieve this. Whilst KMHCF is fully-funded for its present activities, we look for an applicant to guide us towards funding opportunities for our future expansion, and to take the lead on the application process.

This position involves researching and identifying potential funding sources, developing grant proposals, and managing fundraising campaigns. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and experience of the grant application process, excellent writing and communication skills, and a passion for making a difference in the community.

You would need to be able to produce bids which would, in a competitive arena, entice Grant Funders to want to support our service.

This role would be home-based, but with regular contact with the Management Committee.

It would be good if you have some knowledge of Mental Health issues but this is not essential. Most of all, you should have the enthusiasm to serve Carers who can feel isolated and bewildered.

Hestia provides holistic, one-to-one support in our refuges and the community. Our refuge services are for women and children, offering a safe place to stay and vital emotional and practical support.

Outside of our refuges, most of our support services are accessible by anyone who has experienced domestic abuse, including men.

In the last year, 3,855 women and children were supported by Hestia to recover from domestic abuse.

Anyone can experience domestic abuse, at any point in their life, regardless of their background, age, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. However, it is a gendered crime, with women being three times more likely to be victims.

What you will be doing

• To develop and promote a positive relationship with the service user through regular F2F meetings and phone calls, and facilitate their journey to achieve their goals that align with the aims of the Economic, Empowerment and Security Project
• To support the service user in developing their business aspirations, understanding the financial aspects and applying for grants/loans, support with their business plan development, developing their business and leadership skills, and networking opportunities
• To use your industry knowledge and understanding of business, strategy or/and financial principles to support the service user in developing their career goals and employment skills, and confidence.
• To encourage the service user to attend Economic, Empowerment and Security events ran by Hestia’s volunteering team
• To encourage the service user to engage in further external and internal educational training and activities and supporting them in doing so. Manage appropriate boundaries

Role Description

Barnet SASS is a community IDVA service, receiving multiple referrals for survivors every day. You will be supporting our duty team to process these referrals and key admin work. If you are interested, you can also be trained to contact clients, making initial welcome or check in calls.

Training Opportunities

Volunteers will be able to access Solace Women’s Aid’s induction and internal volunteer training programme. Full support will be given to help volunteers understand and carry out any aspect of the role as appropriate.

You will be contacting service users to gather feedback, share information and opportunities to get involved. You will also take a role in organising events for those we support such as coffee mornings, drop-in sessions, and focus groups. There will also be the opportunity to engage with local organisations to build relationships.

You will receive training and experience in organising events, using a case management system, safeguarding, and talking to survivors. You will be part of an inclusive and dynamic team and have opportunities to shadow different roles to develop knowledge and skills. We are seeking a proactive and organised Volunteer HR Assistant to support our small but dynamic HR function. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in Human Resources within the charity or community sector. Apollo Music Projects is looking for a Trustee to join our Board of Trustees. Apollo Music Projects brings the magic of live classical music to children who might not otherwise experience it. We work with primary and special schools to transform children’s lives through music, promoting wellbeing, self-confidence and creativity. We aim to make classical music accessible and relevant to all children regardless of their prior knowledge, experience or background. 

We prioritise partnerships with schools from disadvantaged parts of North and East London and ensure our programme engages the entire year group rather than a select group of children. All of our sessions are interactive with full involvement from the children.

More than 18,000 children have benefited from our programme since we started in Hackney in 2004 and we are poised to partner with an even greater number of schools this year.

The role requires a strong understanding of charity governance. Prior board experience is desirable, ideally in the Arts or Education sectors.

The charity has a strong executive team of a CEO/Founder and four part-time staff, who are delegated by the board to run the charity’s operations and are supported by the trustees.

The Board of Trustees takes on the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for all the activities of the organisation. They maintain an overview of policy and strategic direction rather than being involved in day-to-day operations. 

We are looking for someone with:

• A clear understanding of and commitment to the values and objectives of Apollo Music Projects
• The ability to work effectively as a member of a team whilst contributing an independent perspective
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship as well of the respective roles of the chair, trustees and executive management. 
• Financial experience, particularly in the areas of accounting and budgeting. This is desirable rather than essential in a potential candidate.
• Experience in Education. This is desirable rather than essential in a potential candidate.

General responsibilities will include:

• Providing guidance and oversight to ensure that Apollo Music Projects develops the structure and financial sustainability to deliver on its objectives.
• Participating in approving strategy and evaluating performance.
• Acing as ambassador for Apollo Music Projects.
• Ensuring that Apollo Music Projects complies with charity law. 

The Trustee will be expected to attend four Trustee meetings each year, held in London, and to attend occasional events, workshops and concerts

Candidates will be interviewed by a small panel, and should expect more than one form of interview, both online and in person.
