We are recruiting for an Admin and Reception Volunteer at our Older Persons Day Activities Centre in Tooting.

Our volunteer administrators are instrumental to all the work that we do across Hestia. You will have the opportunity to support staff with a wide range of desk-based and administrative tasks. These behind-the-scenes roles provide essential support in ensuring that those who we work with access the support they require to rebuild their lives beyond crisis

What you will be doing

• To support with administration, and with meeting and greeting service users, and with building security.
• Support with updating and inputting data into spreadsheets
• Support with answering phone calls and internal communication
• To support the team with covering the reception desk and dealing with enquiries from people arriving at the service/office.

The skills you need

• Good communication skills
• Good organisation and administrative skills
• Able to maintain good working relationships
• Basic IT skills, comfortable using spreadsheets and emailing

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

We are looking for work party volunteers to join us on our reserves at Nagshead and Highnam Woods in Gloucestershire. RSPB nature reserves are special places for people and wildlife and we rely on volunteers to keeps these habitats thriving and in good shape.

Our work parties take place every Wednesday from 10am - 3pm from September to March, alternating between Nagshead and Highnam Woods. We also run occasional Wednesdays throughout the summer to tackle bracken cutting and other reserve maintenance work.

We are a small team working on two mature woodland RSPB reserves; Nagshead is situated in the heart of the Forest of Dean and Highnam Woods is in the Severn Vale on the outskirts of Gloucester. Despite both being woodland sites, the reserves are very different, and we manage them accordingly to benefit our key wildlife species.

As a Reserve Work Party Volunteer you will be joining a regular practical work party team to undertake practical habitat management tasks:

• Cutting and clearing vegetation.
• Coppicing and brash clearance.
• Bracken cutting.
• Creating and maintaining visitor infrastructure, such as paths and benches.
• Following annual work plans.
• Following Health and Safety protocols.

If you enjoy being outdoors, meeting new people and hands on conservation work, then this role could be the perfect opportunity for you. This role does involve a reasonable amount of physical activity, so will enable you to keep your fitness levels high, as well as helping your mental health and wellbeing. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a genuine contribution to nature conservation, and you might find it rewarding to safeguard nature in the area you are working to protect.

We are a new CIC podcast and media platform that provides a safe space for survivors of childhood sexual trauma within the Black British Caribbean community to tell their truth—and shame the devil. Through storytelling, cultural therapy, and partnership building, we aim to heal and empower.

We're now recruiting a Volunteer Outreach & Partnership Specialist to lead one of the most critical arms of our CIC.

Your Role

1. Guest Outreach & Curation (Primary):

• Lead strategy to find, vet, and schedule guests from the Black British Caribbean community who are ready to share lived experiences of childhood sexual trauma in a respectful, empowering, and supported environment.

• Manage the guest outreach pipeline via Airtable, Trello, or Notion.

• Liaise with our team to ensure a trauma-informed, mission-aligned guest journey.

2. Partnerships & Sponsorships:

• Identify and secure sponsorships and partnerships with charities, organisations, government bodies, and brands aligned with our values.

• Build and maintain a network of long-term collaborators in mental health, therapy, media, and advocacy.

• Align partnerships with growth, impact, and fundraising goals.

3. General Duties:

• Attend monthly in-person team meet-ups (Greater London).

• Collaborate with other CIC team members.

• Represent our values: knowledge of self, community love, and truth-telling.

• Strong ties to the Black British Caribbean community (through lived or professional experience).

• Background or skills in: outreach, journalism, PR, charity work, sales, safeguarding, or project management.

• High emotional intelligence; trauma-informed or open to learning.

About us

St Michael’s and All Saints’ Charities are based in Oxford and comprise several historical charities whose purpose is to support the Church of St Michael at the North Gate in Central Oxford and to award grants to charities and other organisations where appropriate in the City of Oxford and Oxfordshire.  The Charities have a long history dating back to the Charter of 1612 under the Great Seal of James I, on display in the Saxon Tower of St Michaels, but are also proud to be able to support both church, city of Oxford and Oxfordshire more broadly in the 21st century and beyond.

The Charities help St Michael’s to continue to be an active church community in the heart of Oxford, with the Vicar acting as City Rector with Oxford City Council and working pastorally with city centre businesses and visitors. The Charities support the upkeep of the church buildings allowing the church to be open every day for personal quiet and for the enjoyment of its historical heritage.

In awarding grants the Trustees (also known as Feoffees) have been able to support local charities over many years which focus on community benefit and relief of hardship, especially those working with the homeless, refugees and young people. These charitable objectives are supported through the income from its permanent endowment which comes substantially, although not exclusively, from property in Oxford.

The Trustees strive to continuously improve the governance of the Charities and are now actively seeking new Trustees to join their dedicated and collaborative board to provide strategic support in their field of expertise and support overall governance and leadership of the organisation.

We are looking for candidates who are willing to develop a sympathetic understanding of the work of the Charities and are experienced in working in an environment governed by a legislative/regulatory framework, be it charitable, non-profit or private sector.

The Charities invites expressions of interest for the following roles:

· Chair Designate of the Board of Trustees; the current Chair plans to retire from the role in 2026

· Trustee who would join the Charities’ Property and Investment Subcommittee.

Our priority is to increase both the legal and financial or investment management expertise on our Trustee board and so applicants should be able to evidence experience in at least one of these two areas. 

The Charity has two subcommittees which have delegated authority to oversee various elements of governance and compliance:

· Property and Investment subcommittee which oversees the financial governance of the charity in relation to financial performance, risk and sustainability and property management and investment and ensuring policies, systems and processes are fit for purpose. 

· Grant subcommittee that scrutinises governance, systems and processes and monitors impacts and outcomes. 

We also ensure that trustees feel supported in their role and offer mentoring to new trustees during their induction period as well as ongoing support and training.

Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

Are you a people-person looking for a way to use your skills to support your local rescue and rehoming centre? We are looking for friendly faces to add to our brilliant reception team, greeting supporters, handling enquiries and making all visitors to Bath Cats & Dogs Home feel welcome.

This is an exciting new volunteer role for the charity and having taken on two fantastic Volunteer Receptionists earlier this year, we are keen to grow our small but mighty team!

Our volunteer requirement for this role is Tuesdays-Sundays 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm. We require volunteers to make a weekly commitment of at least 6 months.

About the Role:

Volunteer Receptionists are the first point of contact to all visitors to BCDH. This could be members of the public looking to hand over their pet, add to their family or hoping to pop in to have a look at the animals. They also handle general enquiries via telephone and email. Your tasks may include:

• Greeting volunteers and supporters upon arrival for appointments; handling walk-in enquiries and organising external contractors in a friendly and efficient manner.
• To assist the Customer & Facilities team with any general administration.  
• Processing payments for adoptions, stray dog claims and vet visits.
• Processing donation payments, ensuring to follow Gift Aid processes.
• Receiving and sending post.

About You:

You will be an outgoing and approachable animal lover ideally with experience of front-of-house roles. However, full training will be provided, so an organised people-person would also be an ideal candidate. An interest in how animal welfare charities operate is key as you will often be the first point of contact for supporters who have lots of questions about the rehoming process!

Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone and via email is crucial, as well as being able to manage your emotions and remain calm during difficult situations. 

You will be answering queries from external contacts via email as well as managing post, so it is important that you understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
