Trustee Role
The Developers Club Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to join our existing Board of Trustees, which consists of 6 individuals. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to supporting the housing and professional development of young adults at risk of long-term youth homelessness. We believe that providing quality accommodation and mentorship can be life-changing for generations to come.
Role Description:
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction of The Developers Club Foundation. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective governance and financial stability of the organisation, as well as overseeing the implementation of our charitable initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend fortnightly board meetings and contribute actively to discussions during the setup phase. Meetings will transition to quarterly once the setup phase is complete.
- Provide guidance and oversight on the organisation's strategic direction.
- Review and approve budgets, financial reports, and fundraising plans.
- Support the fundraising efforts of the organisation.
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and promote its mission and values.
Skills and Experience:
We are looking for individuals with a passion for social impact and a commitment to our cause. Ideal candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Housing or homelessness support
- Fundraising and financial management

We are looking for an Activities Volunteer to help deliver recreational activities to our service users, tasks will include:
•Welcoming visitors and service users to the hub, helping them sign in, directing them to the hub space, helping service users to engage within a group setting, helping with any activity sessions that take place on or off the premises.
•Physical sporting activities such as football, cricket, rugby, group cycling etc.
•Playing board games, creative – arts, music, photography.
•Consulting clients to gain their feedback about what sessions they would like to participate in.
•Helping clients to engage within a group setting.
You will offer a safe and comfortable experience for all clients, showing awareness of clients varying physical and mental well-being needs.

This role requires maturity, and an ability to engage with male adults in a trauma informed way, while working alongside staff members to deliver the service in line with agreed procedures and systems.
Volunteers need to:
•Be at least 18 years old
•Be able to get to the venue based in Manchester
•Be able to commit to every fortnight
•Be computer literate and have a good standard of spoken and written English
•Be willing to have an enhanced DBS check
•Have knowledge and understanding of human trafficking issues or willingness to learn
•Have knowledge of mental health issues and the challenges faced or a willingness to learn
•Have an understanding of the importance of professional boundaries in the role

- Do you have 1-2 hours a week to give to a service user suffering from BPD and feeling isolated or lonely?

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

We Are Family is an extraordinary peer support community for adopters and prospective adopters. We’re there for parents throughout their adoption journey. Online and in person, our parents’ groups, events, resources, podcasts and talks offer mutual support, information and inspiration to adopters and those considering adoption. We currently operate across Greater London and the Home Counties, with ambitions to scale nationally over the coming years.
The Role
We Are Family is seeking to appoint a committed and motivated Company Secretary who will work closely with the Board of Trustees and play an active part in the governance of the organisation.
This is a voluntary opportunity with associated Trustee expenses - such as travel / childcare - covered by We Are Family. The Company Secretary can be based anywhere in the UK.

In addition to being involved in Board meetings, the Secretary should expect to spend 8-10 hours each month on work related to the governance of the charity.

The normal term of appointment for a Secretary is three years, after which there is the opportunity to renew for a further three-year period.
Skills and Experience
In this role you will:

Work directly with the Chair and Deputy Chair to organise and plan for regular Board meetings, producing agendas and a supporting pack of Board papers

Ensure minutes are taken at the Trustee Board meetings and circulated in a timely manner

Take an active role in the governance of the Charity, ensuring that the company complies with its governing document, Charity Law, Charity Commission, and other relevant legislation

Arrange for filings to be submitted to the Charity Commission in accordance with statutory deadlines

Liaise with Committee Chairs to collect and distribute Committee meeting notes to the Board of Trustees

Maintain and update statutory records including annual returns, report, and accounts, and changes to the trustee membership.

Oversee the implementation of and monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems.

Oversee the charity’s financial risk management process.

Review and approve payments (including payroll).

Be the main point of contact for We Are Family’s bank.

Act as a counter signatory on important applications to funders.

Liaise with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial activities of the organisation.
