Age: 18 years +

In 2020 the British Red Cross turns 150. It is thanks to all our supporters and volunteers that we have been able to help people during emergencies since 1870. Our volunteers have been providing emotional and practical support to those affected during emergencies such as Aberfan, the London 7/7 bombings and more recently the Manchester Arena bombings and Grenfell fire. The Red Cross doesn't only respond to large-scale emergencies, we respond to an emergency on average every four hours ranging from house fires and floods to power cuts and water shortages. Help us continue our story by applying to volunteer with us today.

What would I be doing?

You will be helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. Every individual affected by an emergency will need different support from us to help them recover, below are some examples of what you might support with:

  • Helping communities prepare for extreme weather events such as flooding or snow storms
  • Providing practical support such as distributing clothing or food after flooding
  • Providing emotional support to people who have been evacuated due to a fire

If this is something that you feel you could support with, please apply today.

Next steps

After you apply for the role someone from our friendly recruitment team will be in touch with you to arrange an interview. This will be an opportunity for us to find out more about you and for you to find out more about the role. Following this interview if we both agree to continue with recruitment we will invite you to meet the team and attend an induction day where you can find out more about what it is like to be a volunteer for the British Red Cross. Please see below the schedule for this round of recruitment:

  • Telephone Interview date: 3rd or 4th March 2020
  • Meet and Greet with team: 18th or 19th of March 2020
  • Induction Day: 4th April 2020 (Nottingham)

Please do not worry if you cannot make the dates above as we can offer alternatives

If there is anything you would like to find out more about prior to applying for the role we would love to hear from you, please e-mail us at:
