Job description

Make-A-Wish are on a mission to attract and retain our talented people. As a result, we are focusing our attention on all things talent management and career development. Therefore, we are seeking an enthusiastic expert in talent management/development to assist Make-A-Wish in the development of their Career Development strategies.

You will lead on developing our career pathways and the identification of core competencies. Dependant on available, support around the undertaking of a skills gap analysis would also be welcomed.

Make-A-Wish have an engaged and motivated group of colleagues working tirelessly to deliver wishes for our wish children and their families.

We’re a small organisation delivering this and our colleagues have expressed a real desire to understand more about the development opportunities available to them, in the context of both their short term and long term career plans. Many of our colleagues believe that in order to progress in Make-A-Wish they need to be promoted into their line managers role. That’s simply not true – we have lots of internal opportunities for colleagues to explore as many of our roles have transferable skillsets.

Creating a set of clear career pathways will play a fundamental role in attracting and retaining our brilliant colleagues, with a huge opportunity to highlight the different career paths available. Delivering this will make a real, tangible difference to our people by showing them the different ways they can progress through their careers and what skills they need to refine and develop in order to grow professionally.
