PiP’s mission is to combat social inequalities and their effect on people with learning disabilities. Your involvement will mean we can ensure that every PiP student has a voice and can make their own choices about their lives.
You will be joining a relatively new Board with a variety of skills, keen to deliver an exciting new strategy for our beneficiaries, their families and the wider community.
As Chair you will provide leadership, setting the tone for decision-making and ensuring high standards, playing a key part in setting strategic direction, facilitating the focus on longer term objectives as well as short term delivery.
Your main duties will include:
- Ensuring that PiP complies with all its governance, financial and legal obligations
- Supporting the trustees to fully engage with their roles, board meetings and the organisation's work.
- Developing the Board as a cohesive team through effective induction, development, regular reviews of skills and effectiveness and planning for trustee selection.
- Ensuring that the student voice is central to PiP's strategy, policies and operations.
- Providing leadership and support to the CEO.
There are between 4-6 Board meetings each year, typically held on weekday evenings between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. You will also be required to participate in sub-committees once or twice a quarter.
The role is voluntary and unpaid, but reasonable expenses, such as travel and caring responsibilities, will be reimbursed.
