Job description


CPRE Wiltshire is both a registered Charity and a registered Limited Company. All financial matters are handled at Branch level by the Treasurer.  The Treasurer will be both a Trustee of the Charity and a Director of the Company.

The Treasurer’s Role includes but is not limited to:

  1. Keeping accurate records of income and expenditure in line with legal regulations
  2. Helping set an annual budget
  3. Managing the Charity’s cashflow and the current bank account
  4. Paying all incoming invoices and expenses. Handling all cash receipts.
  5. Preparing full accounts at the end of each financial year and having them checked by an external examiner.
  6. Submitting the final accounts to: Charity Commission, Companies House, and National office
  7. Liaising with eSlip Managed Service Payroll for staff
  8. Liaising with Administrator on a regular basis.

The role is not arduous and requires perhaps one hour each week in making payments and ensuring reconciliation between the management accounts and the bank account balance.  There is a requirement to attend a virtual Trustees meeting every two months that lasts about two hours. Attending the AGM, which includes writing a short report to convey at this meeting.

The Treasurer does not need to be an accountant.  They do need to be numerate and must have had previous experience in managing a small account including preparation of final accounts at year end. 

They should also be flexible, a good communicator, experienced in electronic banking and spread sheets.
