We are looking for lived experienced volunteers who use screen readers and would be happy to share their experiences of accessing Welsh digital information and services in Wales.

You will share your personal experiences of using a screen reader to access Welsh digital information and services, show how accessibility features work in real life and what changes make a real difference.

You will share your experiences and talk openly in group discussions and have the confidence to raise issues and a willingness to speak up about concerns or gaps in services. You will also contribute and collaborate with project staff and external stakeholders (researchers and decision makers) to shape future Welsh language technology developments helping to create more accessible Welsh language digital services.

UI/UX DEVELOPER

As a Volunteer UI/UX Designer, you will design intuitive and accessible digital experiences that support ZEF's programs and initiatives. You will work closely with project teams to transform ideas into user-friendly interfaces and improve the overall experience of our digital platforms.

Key Deliverables

• Create wireframes, user flows, and user journey maps for assigned projects.
• Design high-fidelity UI mockups and interactive prototypes in Figma (or similar).
• Conduct basic user research and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
• Develop and maintain a consistent design system and reusable components.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
• Review existing digital products and recommend usability improvements.
• Deliver design assets and documentation within agreed project timelines.

Expected Impact

Your work will help ZEF build accessible, engaging, and user-centered digital solutions that improve the experience of volunteers, beneficiaries, and partners while strengthening the organization's ability to deliver social impact through technology.

Summary of Role:

As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will lead Solution Community’s mission by building, improving, and developing the technical systems that power our global, volunteer‑driven organization. This role contributes directly to leading the creation of accessible, reliable, and scalable tools that enable volunteers to collaborate, deliver services, and support communities worldwide.

Engineers work across both front‑end and back‑end components, participate in technical planning, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver meaningful, user‑centered solutions. Responsibilities:

• Develop and Maintain Applications: Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable web applications using Firebase for backend and React/Next.js for frontend.

• Expertise in: React and Next.js, in-depth knowledge of React and Next.js for building dynamic and responsive frontend interfaces, with a focus on server-side rendering and static site generation.

• Full Stack Development: Proven ability to work across the entire stack, from designing and implementing backend services to creating interactive and user-friendly frontend applications.

• Version Control and Collaboration: Experience with Git and GitHub/GitLab for version control, with a collaborative approach to working in a team environment.

• Database Management: Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience in designing efficient database schemas, writing complex queries, and optimizing database performance.

• UI/UX Principles: Understanding of UI/UX principles and ability to translate design mockups into functional and aesthetically pleasing web interfaces.
