Job description

Help RAF Museum to improve our emergency response planning by creating site maps for emergency responders.

What is the role?

The RAF Museum is continuously developing its emergency response plans and we would like to enhance our ability to quickly respond to any emergency by creating site maps with all critical information required by emergency services in an easy to read and graphical way.

The role will be for a project led by the Operations Team in London. The successful candidate will be liaising closely with the Operations Site Manager and will help to develop the site maps that will be used when responding to an incident.

RAF Museum London is comprised of six aircraft hangars and various smaller buildings.

What will I be doing?

Developing each hangar’s map to highlight:

  • The main walls, doors and access points

  • Emergency door location and type

  • Call point, hydrant and fire extinguisher locations

  • Main hazard locations

  • Create a digital version and a physical version of the maps that can be contained in each Emergency Grab Bag for the Incident Team Leader to use

We feel that this role would be ideal for someone currently studying or looking to gain work experience in design or architecture.

How much time would I need to commit?

It depends on prior knowledge and skills with small projects and map design.  The project will require approximately 4 hours of on-site familiarisation and survey followed by a few hours per week (either remotely or on site) to develop the maps.

Expectations

You have skills with design and CAD software (or equivalent)

You want to gain professional experience supporting a critical project

You are studying or have recently graduated from design or architecture
