About ThriveSpark Southampton
ThriveSpark Southampton is a newly established community-led charity dedicated to empowering, supporting, and celebrating individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Our mission is to empower minds and ignite potential through advocacy, education, and community engagement.

Role Purpose
The Director of Finance will play a key role in overseeing the financial health, sustainability, and accountability of ThriveSpark Southampton. Working alongside the Managing Director, the Director of Finance will provide strategic financial guidance and ensure compliance with charity law and good financial practice.
This voluntary role is central to helping the community interest company grow sustainably and make the best possible use of its resources in pursuit of its mission.

About Long Covid SOS:
Long Covid SOS (LCSOS) is a charity set up for the advancement of health and relief of need among people with Long Covid.
“Long Covid” means post-acute Covid-19 syndrome, where symptoms and/or long-term complications occur beyond four weeks from initial infection or symptoms onset to include any post viral illness with a suspected or evidenced link to Covid-19.
LCSOS aims to raise awareness of Long Covid, its treatment, recovery and rehabilitation among health policymakers, healthcare providers and the general public.
To do this we advocate for and make it known to healthcare providers, health policymakers and other relevant policy makers the views and lived experience of members of the general public suffering from or affected by Long Covid. We also support research into the causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Long Covid, and publish results of such research.
Main duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer:
· Advising the Board about its financial duties and responsibilities
· Advising the Board on the approval of budgets, accounts and financial statements
· Advising on the financial implications of LCSOS strategic plans and key assumptions in the annual budget
· Ensuring that all Board members have a clear understanding of the accounts presented at meetings and their implications
· Understanding the accounting procedures and key internal controls to be able to assure the board that the charity’s financial integrity is sound
· Ensuring that a realistic budget is produced which meets the needs of LCSOS and that there is an appropriate reserves policy
· Approving and, where appropriate, advising the Board on unbudgeted expenditure proposals in accordance with LCSOS financial procedures
· Ensuring that full financial records are kept for all transactions
· Ensuring that proper financial procedures and controls are in place to safeguard LCSOS
· Ensuring that money received is only spent on the purposes for which I was given, and, where required, ensuring that reports and accounts demonstrating this are submitted to funders
· Ensuring that accounts are prepared at year-end in compliance with the Charities SORP (FRS102) and making arrangements for them to be audited or independently examined, as required by the Charity Commission
· Ensuring that annual accounts are submitted to the Charity Commission and/or Registrar of Companies, within the deadlines set
· Liaising with the Chair about financial matters
· Advising the Board on identifying and managing key risks effectively, and maintaining LCSOS’s risk register
· Leading on selecting and implementing a suitable financial accounting system
Personal skills and qualities:
· Commitment to the aim and goals of LCSOS
· Professional financial or accountancy qualifications or equivalent senior financial or accounting experience
· Experience or knowledge of charity finance
· Experience and knowledge of budgets and budgeting processes
· Ability to analyse proposals and anticipate their financial consequences
· Preparedness to make unpopular recommendations to the Board
· Willingness to be available to provide advice and guidance on financial matters
Other Information:
· The Treasurer is a full member of the Trustee Board
· Formal Trustee Board meetings are held online up to six times per year (or as required); Team meetings are held monthly and Trustees are invited to attend
· The Treasurer role requires approximately 2 – 4 hours work per month
· Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years and can be reappointed

What Will You Be Doing?
- Engagement: Help increase engagement, improve the number of followers/likes, create & execute a content calendar
- Content Creation: Produce fresh, branded and engaging content for our social media channels

Key Tasks and Objectives
- Copywriting: Create well-written and compelling copy for use on our website, members magazine, leaflets, one-page/fact sheets, fundraising/promotional materials and in our membership packs
- Case study writing and storytelling: Help communicate our impact via stories and case studies that we can use on our website, in marketing materials, or for our fundraising materials
- Web copywriting: Create and update engaging content for our website that adheres to our brand
- Communication materials review: Review our existing communications materials. Recommend edits that will provide us with consistency in writing style and tone, accurate spelling and grammar, and a clear and engaging voice for our organisation. Evaluate the way we communicate with volunteers, members of the public and helping us to develop better ways of doing this
- Social media snippets - create information and case study snippets for the various social media platforms
- Press Releases and any content that could be used in different channel

It Gets Better UK envisions a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals. We strive to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ people and to provide positive and reassuring messages to LGBTQ+ youth.
The It Gets Better Project was founded in 2010 in America. Since then, affiliated charities have been formed in over 20 different countries. We are now at the exciting stage of continue to grow and develop the UK affiliate having formally launched in October 2018.
Join our network of Regional Ambassadors to help promote It Gets Better UK, to inspire and engage with members of their local LGBTQ+ communities to get involved, and to help fundraise.
We're looking for volunteers UK-wide, particularly across Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and parts of England (North East, North West, and South West). If you are not based in these areas but are interested in the role, you are still welcome to apply as the local role exists across the country.
What will I be doing?
We ask Regional Ambassadors to deliver four self-led regional actions per year, and to expect to be asked to be involved in more ad-hoc centrally-led actions and activities as these arise. Key activities include:

Raise awareness of It Gets Better UK and our work through talking to members of the LGBTQ+ community in your area, and on social media

Look after our information and fundraising stands at local events – most importantly, hosting an It Gets Better UK Pride stall in your local area. Members of the It Gets Better team will support you with sign-up admin and capacity on the day. So far, we're planning to attend Edinburgh Pride!

Support other members of the It Gets Better UK volunteer team to deliver events in their area by adding capacity where possible, and within a distance that suits you – for example, helping out at a Pride stall run by another Ambassador nearby.

Deliver talks to local LGBTQ+ groups, community groups, schools etc about the work of It Gets Better UK and how they could help us achieve our goals

What is the time commitment?
This is a flexible role and the times will vary. Taking into account four self-led regional actions per year and ad-hoc centrally-led actions and activities, we recommend expecting to spend at least two hours a week on your role. We ask Regional Ambassadors to try to be available for Pride events over the summer: this means some half/full day activities over the summer period, usually on Saturdays. You’ll be able to sign up for days which suit you. Regional Ambassadors are appointed for up to two years. Regional Ambassadors will have a monthly online meeting with their It Gets Better UK point of contact.

We’re looking for a volunteer to help build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners who want to support It Gets Better UK. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, spotting opportunities, and helping businesses make a positive impact for LGBTQ+ young people.
What you’ll do
- Research companies whose values align with our mission.
- Support the team with preparing partnership proposals and presentations.
- Help track and maintain relationships with existing partners, including sending thank-yous and updates.
- Identify opportunities for workplace fundraising, volunteering, or pro bono support.
What we’re looking for
- Great communication and organisational skills.
- An interest in relationship-building and networking.
- Enthusiasm for LGBTQ+ equality and the power of storytelling.
- Previous experience in corporate fundraising, partnerships, or business development is helpful but not essential – we can support you to grow in the role.

It Gets Better UK is a lived-experience-led LGBT+ youth charity, working to tackle the disproportionate mental health challenges LGBT+ young people face today, through a collection of community-sourced, lived-experience stories; educational programs; and community-building initiatives.
About the role
We are looking for a volunteer to support It Gets Better UK in securing trust and foundation funding. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys research, writing, and bringing together a compelling case for support. You’ll help us continue telling stories that inspire, uplift, and empower LGBTQ+ young people.
What you’ll do
- Research grant-making bodies, trusts, and foundations that align with our mission.
- Draft and edit funding applications with guidance from our team.
- Support with tracking deadlines and requirements for applications and reports.
- Work alongside our CEO and small team to identify new funding opportunities.

- An eye for detail and the ability to follow funder guidelines.
- Enthusiasm for It Gets Better UK’s mission and values.

We’re seeking a volunteer to help grow our community fundraising. This role is ideal for someone who loves engaging people, sparking ideas, and turning energy into impact. You’ll play a key role in supporting people who want to fundraise for It Gets Better UK — whether that’s a school bake sale, a sponsored run, or a workplace Pride fundraiser.
What you’ll do
- Support with creating and sharing fundraising ideas, toolkits, and resources.
- Help engage and thank community fundraisers and donors.
- Assist with online fundraising campaigns and platforms.
- Contribute to spreading the word about opportunities to give and get involved.
What we’re looking for
- Great people skills and a friendly, supportive approach.
- Creativity in spotting opportunities for fundraising.
- Enthusiasm for LGBTQ+ visibility, storytelling, and empowerment.
- No prior fundraising experience needed — just a willingness to learn.
