Who we are:

The Watercolour World (TWW) is a UK registered charity, working with public and private collections worldwide to aggregate pre-1900 watercolours of record on to a single geographically-indexed website.  TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are Joint Patrons of The Watercolour World.

The primary objectives of TWW are:

  • To protect, preserve and make publicly available the documentary information contained in the global watercolour collection;
  • to aggregate digitised watercolour images in the UK and international collections, both public and private, onto one topographically-indexed website;
  • to digitise, and encourage the digitisation of documentary watercolours in the UK and internationally;
  • to encourage the participation of the public in sharing information and helping identify unrecognised images.

Volunteer Role:

TWW is seeking to strengthen its team of Cataloguing Volunteers and assist the Collections Department in the processing and collating of information from collections on to our database system.  The role includes sorting through images of documentary watercolours, identifying those relevant to the project, researching their location and categorising and tagging them by content and subject matter.

Application Requirements:

  • An eye for detail and an efficiency and accuracy in the processing of information
  • General knowledge of History and Geography
  • Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Excel
  • Interest in visual history and digital projects

To Apply: Send your CV and a short cover letter outlining your interest.

TWW will contribute to the expenses (e.g. travel/food) incurred by the Volunteer.
