About the role:
The Maia Service works with young women and girls living in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Camden, Islington and Westminster. We enable young women and girls to escape harm and to thrive in their lives and aspirations. We support young women and girls to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience, manage their health and wellbeing, and access and engage with other support services. The support we provide is delivered through a range of activities, including 1-2-1 advocacy and a programme of group-work and workshops delivered by specially trained members of staff.
About You:
Advance recognises that women and girls’ journeys to recovery after experiencing trauma are not always linear. Volunteer Mentors must be in a place in their own lives where they are not currently facing risk of harm or have ongoing support needs in relation to experience of violence and abuse, current or alcohol use and/or contact with the criminal justice system, see our Person Specification (within the job description) to understand if you are the best person for this role.

The Alice Ruggles Trust was established in 2017 after the death of Alice following a tragic stalking case perpetrated by her ex-boyfriend. The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley and the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police (TVP) are seeking an exceptional individual to join their Audit and Risk Committee known as JIAC (Joint Independent Audit Committee).

Shannon Trust is working with community partners to enhance our support to learners as they leave prison. This will enable them to continue learning on release and also to reach others in the community in touch with probation services or at risk of offending.
By becoming a reading coach, you will enable people to learn basic reading skills in a flexible way, so that day-to-day tasks like filling in forms or reading a bus timetable become easier.
We provide training for the role via e-learning and training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.

As a Business Development Manager you will be the front of the charity by helping to create opportunities when engaging small, medium and large enterprises. The role will provide effective day-to-day management relating to all aspects of the charity’s set up and operations.
The role will ensure financial sustainability by assisting the CEO, Marketing Lead and fundraisers identify and secure appropriate funding that supports the values of the charity, and to clearly demonstrate and promote the positive impact of the charity.
What will you be doing?
- To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the CEO and Trustees.
- Where required to undertake aspects of business development including identification of funding opportunities, bid writing and tender submissions.
- To assist the CEO with updating and revising the charity’s business plan and fundraising strategy in accordance with the Trustees’ strategic direction.
- Contacting potential partners to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
- Researching organisations and individuals to find new opportunities.
- Where appropriate attend conferences, meetings, and charity events.
- Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and stakeholders’ satisfaction.
- To undertake any other relevant duties within the overall scope of the role, as requested by the CEO and Trustees of the charity.
- Lobby government and other policy makers on behalf of the charity’s cause or client group.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales and marketing or related field.
- Highly competent IT skills
- Proven customer service skills

- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality

Time commitment and expenses:
- 1-3 hours per week, either in or out of office hours.
- We request a minimum commitment of 3 months volunteering.

Volunteering in one of our Sense Shops will involve a variety of tasks that you can get involved with. These include:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone
