We are looking for a friendly volunteer to accompany a gentleman we support to attend his Monday evening social club and escort him home at 10.00pm. The club is fortnightly, and the venue is a 5-minute walk away from his home in Kidderminster.

Activities will include:

Sharing your time on Monday evenings (fortnightly) and joining a gentleman we support to attend his evening social club. This includes help with purchasing a drink and retain a receipt.

They are often isolated and without the confidence to make new friends, try new activities or get out of their comfort zone. There are over 1 million visually impaired people in the UK only and there is a lack of a proper tailored offer in the holiday sector. Seable Holidays offer holidays that stimulate independency, self-esteem and reduce isolation for blind and partially sighted people. We are the only tour operator to offer "chaperone assistance" - a local professional friend that ensures the holiday is safe and enjoyable.
They have a range of tailored and group holidays to suit the needs of all visually impaired people. The tailored offers are for people less confident and requiring 1:1 assistance, couples wanting a romantic break or families in need of assistance to have a well deserved relaxing holiday. Their group holidays are for people that need to make new friends and want to socialise. All the activities are tailored and tested for and by visually impaired people, from skiing holidays to tasting sessions and sporting holidays
They involve visually impaired people in every step of the way, their office staff is visually impaired as well as 25% of the board of directors. Their social impact report from people that have travelled with us in 2023 have shown the following results: 100% increased their confidence, 45% Have reduced isolation and made new friends, 25% have started a new hobby (from an activity tried on a holiday), 5% have looked for a job.

Upmo are an Edinburgh-based charity that provides support and opportunity for adults with learning disabilities and autism across Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian. Upmo was founded in 2006 by Josh Barton and inspired by the belief that services for adults could truly be exciting, dynamic and meaningful.
In 2006, adults with learning disabilities lacked opportunities in higher education and there was a lack of understanding around individual needs. Those who understood the needs of service users operated with limited scope to encourage, inspire and motivate. As a result, many service users were isolated and desperately in need of opportunities to become more socially engaged, active and valued.
The response from Upmo was combining progressive learning within an educational curriculum and the development of support service provision – placing the needs of students at the heart of services. Distinguishing themselves by adopting an unconventional approach, Upmo provides custom-tailored support services alongside a well-regarded curriculum featuring creative workshops, educational activities, and vocational programs. The charity has also expanded its impact through a growing number of social enterprises aimed at creating job opportunities and preparing students for employment.
Upmo are looking for a number of committed and motivated individuals, from any background, to join their Board of Trustees and to help steer Upmo through a time of exciting opportunity and development.
As members of the Board, Trustees have the overall responsibility of running the charity. The current Trustees come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and through their wide-ranging and complimentary skills and life experience, contribute to the strategy and oversight of the charity’s operations. Being a trustee is a rewarding experience, which can also offer opportunities for personal development and growth outside of the workplace.
To be considered for this role, you should have strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills, coupled with a proactive attitude towards learning and a collaborative spirit. The Board of Trustees meet four times per year, with every second meeting being held in person in Edinburgh. ABOUT US
Care for Veterans (CfV) was established in 1919 as the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home to care for soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, it has provided long term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end of life care to Veterans and their families. The 60-bed home has been at Gifford House in Worthing since 1933.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitor the performance of CfV in a constructive and inquisitive way;
- Making their time, skills, and experience available to CfV and its executive (in and outside of regular board meetings) and supporting key fundraising events;
- Average time commitment is 12-15 days per year.

We work with cultural partners across Surrey to put on exhibitions, create artworks and increase the awareness and status of Disability Arts.
The Role
In this voluntary role, you will be joining our five other Directors - Laura Jones (Co-Artistic Director of Stop Gap), Hayley Bull (CEO of Bloomin’ Arts) and Julie Hoyle (Artist) and Leah Zakss (Freelance Arts and Music Consultant), Cara Flowers (Artistic and Managing Director of DAISY) - to help DAISY to raise awareness of the incredible art being created in Surrey by Disabled Artists.
Having recently launched a number of new initiatives and under different management, DAISY is entering a new phase of its development and growth and as a Non-Executive Director, you will have the chance to make a real difference to the Disabled Artists we work with. We are looking for a number of people to join our board with, ideally, a background or interest in one or more of the following: finance, fundraising, organisational development, governance and the arts. DAISY is currently in the process of transforming from a Community Interest Company (CIC) with a board of Directors to becoming a registered charity (CIO). When this happens, the Directors will then become Trustees.
Potential profile:
● Our priority is to recruit someone with lived experience of a disability, in order to offer diverse perspectives and to represent the people we work with.
● Close connections with the County of Surrey or nearby.
● A passion for the Arts, ideally Disability Arts and/or Social Justice

● A big picture thinker with a collaborative approach who will understand the challenges of operating as part of a unified Board
As a Director of the DAISY board, you will be expected to meet every few months for an online meeting to discuss future decisions. Other tasks may be required as deemed appropriate but to date these have been fairly light-touch. In order to ensure we are the right fit for you, we ask that you attend at least one Directors meeting with a review before officially becoming a DAISY Director. We will endeavour to provide you with a welcome pack to ensure you have all the information you need to make that decision.

About the role
After several years of relying on the efforts from our Co-Founders, Trustees and temporary volunteers we are looking to take the next step in our growth journey through the placement of our first longer-term volunteer.
This role will be designed to oversee all marketing and social media activities of the organization, and to provide leadership to a small group of wonderful and talented student volunteers from London based Universities as they complete tactical projects for ParaPride as part of their studies. This will also include supporting Daniele, our Co-Founder and Community Engagement Director, with planning and reporting of their activities to the university.
The leadership you will provide will initially be indirect, with Daniele being ultimately responsible for the students activities, so we expect this to be a wonderful opportunity for a seasoned marketing or social media professional who would like the opportunity to gain team leadership experience.
Duties

Advise on how to best grow overall awareness and success of the ParaPride brand.

Oversee the continuous development of our content creation schedule and distribution of engaging, thought provoking and educational content for our media channels, notably LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Provide support and guidance to a small team of student volunteers to develop social media and marketing content that supports the mission, vision and values of ParaPride - directly participating in the creation of content at your discretion.

Ad-hoc creation and distribution of promotional assets for ParaPride events.

Identify and establish potential additional media channels where it is sustainable to do so with the resources available.

Maintain the organisations Brand assets and monitor and advise of their use and ensure consistency with our established tone of voice in written content.

Build partnerships with social media brand ambassadors/influencers to support content creation and brand awareness.
We will also welcome any additional suggestions for how you might wish to apply your skills to support ParaPride in its mission.

About you
Ideally we are looking for someone with 3+ years experience in marketing and/or social media. However, we encourage marketing graduates who can demonstrate strong alignment with our mission, vision and values.
We strongly welcome candidates that have lived experiences of being disabled and/or LGBTQ+, although this not an explicit requirement
Bonus
If you have strong graphic design skills it would be a big plus.
Level of commitment
We are a growing charity and while it is our goal to provide financial compensation for this role in the future, we are unable to initially. In full transparency, this is only an indication of our ambition and will be dependent on a lot of factors linked to appropriate funding. We are dedicated to be fully respectful of your time, but expect a minimum contribution of 4 hours per month on average (varying according to demand), remote, completely flexible and at time convenient to you. As this is a supervisory role, which we hope to bring continuity to our ways of working, we would like to work with you with an intended 2+ years term (situationally dependent).
