We are looking for friendly and energetic volunteers to join our growing retail team. Based  in our beautiful new boutique store on Chiswick High Street, you will play a significant role in providing high quality customer service. From welcoming and interacting with customers on the shop floor to checking out at the tills, you will create a positive and enjoyable shopping experience for our community.

You will also have the opportunity to experience work behind the scenes; sorting through donated items and ensuring the shop is suitably stocked. This is a great way to gain valuable retail experience and develop strong teamwork and communication skills.

You don’t need special skills or experience to volunteer; a positive attitude and a friendly approach to chatting with other people goes a long way. We welcome anyone who is interested in retail and sustainable fashion, passionate about sight loss and supporting a charity, wants to learn something new, or is keen to meet people.

Supporting us for as little as three hours a week would have a huge impact on our work, but if you can spare more time that would help us even more. Let us know what hours and days suit you!

Getting the right support at the right time can make a world of difference as people try to navigate their way through their grief.

In the challenging times that follow the death of a patient, we support families, friends and relatives as they cope with their loss. Providing volunteers who will spend time with those who are grieving is an invaluable service that we feel privileged to offer to our community.This support is given in many ways, via face to face meetings (usually in the hospice or occasionally home visits) or by telephone or video call (e.g. Zoom). As a Bereavement Support Volunteer, you will have regular one to one support sessions with individual clients, keep an online record of those sessions and write a closing summary.

You will be required to complete a 12-week in-house training programme starting on Monday 16 September and then held every Monday for approx 9.30am-4pm.

Our hub in Hersham is at the heart of our retail operations. Donations are centrally stored at the hub and then distributed to our 40+ shops across our care community.

We are looking for volunteers to assist our van drivers (you’ll be not driving) in collecting and delivering donations to various shops across our care community.If you would enjoy being out on the road with our van drivers, traveling between shops, and transporting donated goods, then this could be the role for you!

You will be able to commit to one shift per week which is a full day with relevant breaks. You’ll be comfortable with moving and handling bulky items, friendly and approachable.

You’ll be friendly, have excellent organisation skills and attention to detail. Full training and guidance will be provided to support you with your volunteering journey at Princess Alice Hospice.

Volunteer with the RNLI and help us to save lives in the sea and on the Thames

Our Gravesend Lifeboat station fundraising branch is currently putting together an exciting events calander for the year ahead and would like to recruit a volunteer to support them in proactively seeking out opportunities to advertise recruitment vacancies and respond to follow up enquiries.

This is a post that might suit someone looking to volunteer, but unable to give a fixed, regular commitment as it can be carried out flexibly to fit around existing commitments. Much of the work could be carried out remotely, but the group are keen to find someone fairly local to Gravesend as in addition to some local knowledge being useful, they'd love you to be able to join them for the occasional event or get together.

This role can be a fixed term volunteer post if that's preferred by the applicant - ideally we would like a minimum of around 3 months in order to get an online recruitment presence established.

Our charity shops rely on generous donations made by the public to raise crucial funds for Marie Curie. From clothes, homeware and books, to CDs and DVDs, we sell a wide variety of products.

We are looking for volunteers to help us sort through all these donations, pick out the best items and prepare and sell them to our customers. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers we could not provide our customers with high quality items at affordable prices.  This allows us to raise funds so our nurses can continue to provide care to terminally ill people and support for their families.

We are looking for Qualified volunteers to join our Complementary Therapy team and donate their time and professional skills as a therapist to support our hospice patients. This role will make a huge difference to the lives of those requiring end-of-life care.

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

• Provide a rounded approach to patients and their families to ensure the highest quality of care is given
• Be aware of patients’ diagnosis, treatment and care before giving complementary therapies 
• Able to adapt a therapy, when required
• Keep to the code of ethics and practice laid down by the governing body of the therapy and to Marie Curie’s policy for complementary therapists
• Continue your professional development to refine or learn new skills
• Attend any relevant or training sessions held by the Day Care Unit or Hospice

We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Clackmannanshire and Stirling Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

Finance Volunteer

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Clackmannanshire and Stirling Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

Cancer Support Scotland exists to improve the wellbeing of those affected by cancer, whether they are a person with cancer, a carer or loved one. Our wellbeing services range from professional one-to-one and digital counselling to stress management and self help tools.  In the last year we’ve offered over 6,500 appointments and demand for our services is continuing to rise.  We are seeking a new chair to lead us through the next phase of our strategy and to help us continue to ensure people live well with cancer.  We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for our purpose, has experience in ensuring effective governance and excellent financial acumen and is experienced in leadership.  We meet 4 times a year and have a dedicated group of Trustees who lead 4 sub groups Finance and Risk, Services, Marketing and Fundraising and People.

In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Clackmannanshire and Stirling group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. The Marie Curie Companion service is provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of our volunteers. 

We’re looking for an experienced volunteer admin assistant to assist in the smooth running of our Companion Service.

Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

• Provide administrative support within the Helper service often within a hospice setting.
• Update computerised records
• Assist with office duties such as mailings, filing and inventories 
• Assist with any relevant photocopying
• Operate within all relevant policies and guidelines, including health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and financial regulations.

Sense Holidays gives children, young people, adults with complex disabilities and their families the opportunity to have fun, meet new people and try new activities. Sense Holidays take place across the UK at a range of venues and vary. Each year we need skilled volunteers to help us deliver this exciting programme. 

The Volunteer Role involves:

• Staying in touch with Sense and your Holiday Leader before and during the Sense Holiday, raising any issues or concerns that may need addressing by the wider team.
• Attending the equivalent of one full day mandatory training which will be delivered virtually. You will also be asked to complete online e-Learning prior to the holiday.
• You will provide hands on support for the people on the holiday to meet their everyday needs. This may involve but is not limited to; supporting them to participate in group activities, making activities accessible to their particular needs, supporting the building of friendships and social communication.
• You may also be required to support holidaymakers with personal care including support with eating and drinking, washing, bathing and toileting. 
• Carry out tasks of daily living, such as cleaning the venue and cooking to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
• For those qualified and willing, you may be asked to complete Driving for Sense and drive an accessible vehicle on the holiday this could be a car, van or minibus depending on the holiday.

Volunteer Role Criteria

Essential criteria: 

• Aged 18 or over.
• Have experience supporting those with additional needs. Please note, we can offer a small number of places to those who are less experienced.
• A skilled communicator.
• Have a positive, can-do attitude.
• Can demonstrate reliability.
• Can demonstrate resilience.

Desirable: 

• Able to use British Sign Language.
• Experience in moving and handling.
• A full driving license and willing to drive on a holiday.
• Experience cooking for large groups.
