Purpose of the Role
This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.
The volunteer will work on our Mind My Home service, which offers 8 sessions of Solution Focused Brief Therapy to residents in Spelthorne and residents of A2 Dominion housing across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow. Our volunteer will support the Mind My Home team with numerous tasks beginning with the projects administration and triage (once trained).
Main Responsibilities
To work closely with the Mind My Home team and support the service with enquires, & service users to access the service.
Tasks:
· Answer any queries from both professionals and service users that come through to the Mind My Home inbox.
· Triage clients for the service through an onboarding process.
· Support with follow up surveys for those who have accessed the project and obtained their feedback to improve our services.
· Support the Mind My Home team to promote the service to the local community.
· Liaise with our Head of Comms to ensure the service is being promoted on social media.
· A willingness to undertake training courses.
· Uphold HFEH Mind values and behaviours.

Type of person we are looking for:
We welcome applications from those completing studies in Psychology, Counselling/Psychotherapy, or any Allied Health Profession with a focus on supporting those with mental health needs.
However, your attitude, motivation, and commitment are just as important as your training/qualifications, or any previous experience. We will review all applications individually and assess them on their unique merits, so do not be discouraged from applying if you do not meet all the criteria listed below.
We encourage applications from those with lived experience of mental health problems, as well as those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.
Essential:
· An interest in supporting those with mental health needs to access Mind My Home.
· An appreciation of the complex factors that can precipitate, maintain, and exacerbate mental health problems.
· Good oral and written communication skills (including listening skills); the ability to communicate in a patient, considered, and empathetic manner.
· Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to follow administrative procedures.
· A team player who is willing to chip in and work reflexively, responding to the challenges that arise from working in a dynamic environment.
· IT skills – able to update spreadsheets, use web-based applications, video-conferencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
· Experience of supporting people with mental health needs, in a voluntary, paid, or personal capacity (i.e., friends and family).
· Previous involvement with local community groups/networks/feedback groups.
· Awareness of the cultural barriers that may exist to seeking mental health support.
Time commitment and expenses:
· 6 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), during our core hours of 10AM – 4 PM. Please indicate your preferred volunteering day(s)/time(s) on your application.
· We request a minimum commitment of 6 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.
· We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role .

About the service and role
The East Kent Peer Support Service currently run group sessions for service users in Ashford, Dover and Folkestone.
The role of the Peer Support Volunteer is to provide additional support at our Peer Support group sessions. This could be, for example, by empathising with potential clients about the difficulties that having a mental health problem can create, helping to set up the room, explaining the services that are on offer and how these can be accessed, putting people who are anxious at ease by welcoming them.
Our team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality service that focuses on supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. The team will engage with other local providers to ensure a clear and seamless pathway for those that require support from multiple providers.
What you will be doing as a Peer Support Volunteer
Peer Volunteering is an opportunity for people who have themselves used mental health services, to volunteer and support other people currently using mental health services.
As a Peer Volunteer you will have lived experience of mental health and support service users on a wide range of non-complex issues that can be easily and quickly resolved. You will bring added skills and experience to our service and add real value to our team.

The role will include the following:
- Support the Peer Support Workers to run the group sessions e.g. by helping to set up the room and by welcoming people
- Help to create a safe space where people can share as much or as little as they wish to about their experiences
- Foster the principles of co-production
- Work with other volunteers who support the service
- Signpost people to services in the local area that meets their needs
- Describe and explain services that are on offer from Rethink Mental Illness and other local community assets that can provide help and advice relevant to people's needs

As a Digital Champion you will provide support to our clients who struggle with IT. You will need to understand the importance of digital literacy to our clients. There will be a ‘referral’ system from keyworkers and staff members who will identify clients in need of digital support. In addition, you will provide support to our online Forward Fuse platform and Kaizala (digital messaging app).
To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills, IT skills and a true passion and commitment to supporting vulnerable people to address their support needs and fulfill their full potential. Accountabilites
Service Delivery – Client support tasks
· Provide remote and/or in-person support for clients who struggle with IT.
· Helping to build clients confidence and self-esteem with using popular digital technology.
· Raising awareness of online services and the support available locally.
· Meeting clients within the community to enable them to access digital devices such as tables and PC’s.
· Build a trusting and supportive relationship with clients.

Forward Fuse
Fuse is an online ‘learning and knowledge’ platform. It combines elements of social media with e-learning.
· Supporting the Forward Fuse platform as a moderator outside of normal staff working hours – monitoring content and comments for breaking of the Ground Rules, and encouraging engagement.
Kaizala
Forward successfully used the digital messaging app Kaizala (similar to WhatsApp) to help members of the Forward Connect service keep in touch with each other and share support while face-to-face meetings weren’t possible.
- Supporting Kaizala as a moderator outside of normal staff working hours – monitoring comments for breaking of the Ground Rules, and encouraging engagement.
Additional tasks
· Support with web coding (if you have relevant experience)
· Engage in support and supervision provided.
· To keep a good record of your work, including reporting verbally to their supervisor and completing relevant forms.

Expenses

You will support our Administrators and front line workers with a range of administrative functions to support them with their daily activities and workload. This will give you the opportunity to be involved with a variety of administrative duties including filing, writing notes and supporting the front line workers with the administrative preparations of their group delivery and updating of their client case notes.

Our wonderful charity team is expanding and we are looking to take on more compassionate, reliable and conscientious volunteers with an interest in walking and helping others. We are looking to take on volunteers across the UK for facilitating in-person events.
One of the most effective support events we provide is in the form of our short walking and talking get togethers for those who are grieving. We are looking to increase our in-person get togethers across the country and are recruiting some volunteers to help us do so.
What does it involve? We meet as a small group, grab a tea/coffee, and mosey along together. This could be in a local park, along a canal, in the countryside, etc. It’s pretty simple but can be hugely cathartic and effective for those who are really struggling with their loss and feeling isolated. We are passionate about offering the best possible care to an often-ignored population.
Walking volunteer roles involve facilitating a social get together / walk for people whose loved ones have died from cancer. This largely involves being the meet and greet person for those attending. Volunteers are welcome to design the get together (choosing a location locally) or we can help you do so. The walks are very informal and relaxed, and are targeted at bringing people together rather than having to cover many miles. Get togethers normally last 1-2 hours.
We will provide full training for the role and supervision, along with continued training opportunities. We ask for at least a 18-month commitment, which involves facilitating up to 4-6 walks a year.

Borderline Support UK CIC are a small non-profit organisation made up entirely of volunteers. We work to support people with borderline personality disorder through peer support groups, signposting, and more.
Lived experience isn’t necessary for this post, but it would be an advantage.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic and passionate Research Assistants who can dedicate a few hours a month to work on projects with Borderline Support UK. We are a volunteer-run organisation whose aim is to ensure that everybody impacted by borderline personality disorder is supported in their recovery.
Peer support is about sharing your lived experience of mental health struggles with other people with the hope of providing, support, encouragement, and validation that you understand what they are going through, that they are not alone in their feelings and circumstance. We believe that peer support is an important part of the recovery journey, as it provides a space for support, shared understanding, helps reduce stigma and fosters motivation and hope.
We run several online peer support groups each month for people living with borderline personality disorder and are seeking compassionate and empathetic people to co-facilitate the groups. All groups are facilitated by two peer support workers, and follow a semi-structured pattern. Our groups include:

- LGBTQIA+
- Mixed
- Family
As a volunteer, you will receive comprehensive training, accessible online. We also provide ongoing supervision, support to ensure that you can effectively support others while prioritizing your own recovery. The training covers various areas such as peer support, communication, safeguarding, and facilitation skills.
Role description
- to co-facilitate a support group of 10-15 people on a fortnightly/monthly basis

We provide peer support to people living with borderline personality disorder, through our online groups which are run throughout the month. As well as general support groups, we also have specialist groups for men-only, women-only, LGBTQIA+, young people and families. Our team of volunteer peer support workers, many with lived experience, co-facilitate the groups.
We are looking for a friendly and compassionate counsellor to provide monthly group supervision sessions, and 1:1 sessions where necessary, to ensure our team of peer support workers are fully supported throughout their time volunteering with us.
Main duties
- To provide monthly group supervision (online, via Teams) for the peer support workers
- To provide 1:1 support if needed (online, via Teams)
- To regularly check in with the peer support workers by email
- Highlight any areas of concern to the leadership team
- Maintain and record accurate and up to date records
Personal specification
- a minimum of level 4 in counselling/psychotherapy or equivalent
- registered with a professional body such as BACP or UKCP
- a minimum of 100 client contact hours
- experience of safeguarding and confidentiality
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- able to work independently
- confident working with people from diverse backgrounds/cultures
