About the opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Greater Manchester Board of Trustees.
The Young Women’s Trustee will lead the development of understanding the needs of Smart Works Greater Manchester’s younger clients aged 16 to 25 years (these being unemployed, NEET or in danger of becoming NEET, and those leave the care system) and become a recognised and valued advocate for this community across Greater Manchester.
The successful candidate will develop new and existing connections with referral partners who support young unemployed women, input to the marketing plan and social media content to better reach and communicate with this audience, and build relationships with corporate partners and grant funders who support this community.
The candidate will also have the opportunity to connect with policy makers focussed on improving the employment outcomes for young women across Greater Manchester.
General Duties of a Smart Works Trustee
- Work with the Chair of the Board of Trustees to ensure the centre is well-run and governed effectively.
- Provide support to determine the strategic direction of the Centre.
- Advocate for the Centre, raising its profile and the awareness of the Smart Works service in the geographic area.
- Build strong working relationships with the Chair, fellow trustees, staff, volunteers and supporters.
- Work in a small team and tailor strong interpersonal and communication skills to all levels of seniority.
Personal Specification
The Young Women’s Trustee will use their skills and experience to amplify the voices of Smart Works Greater Manchester’s younger clients and successfully network with key employment and skills programme providers, third sector, and 16+ educational organisations that exist across Greater Manchester.
Lived experience of unemployment and / or experience supporting social value or youth unemployment projects is preferred, but not essential.
The successful applicant will demonstrate enthusiasm for developing at board level and will become a real advocate for young women living in socially disadvantaged and minority communities across Greater Manchester.
The Young Women’s Trustee will be required to sit on relevant task force groups as and when experience is relevant and attend (and prepare for) Board meetings taking place quarterly. For those new to Board positions, a mentor from the wider trustees team will be provided.

About the opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Greater Manchester Board of Trustees.
The Corporate Relationships Trustee will support in developing the corporate supporter base across the city region, with the aim of increasing the funding received from organisations. This will involve supporting the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to shape the our corporate partner “offer”, engaging with corporate supporters, and building the narrative of our social value proposition.
Securing corporate funding / financial donations as an income stream will enable the Charity to continue delivering the Smart Works service across Greater Manchester, helping women to secure employment and gain financial independence. The corporate partner offering will include securing formal, multi-year Charity Partner status for Smart Works Greater Manchester across the city region and increasing corporate participation in fundraising challenges, such as the annual Cycle for Smart Works challenge and payroll giving.
The time commitment for this voluntary, unpaid role is an average of 0.5 day per month, with more time given at busy periods of the year. There will be a requirement to sit on the Fund-Raising Sub-Committee, with meetings taking place every three months, and to attend Board meetings taking place every quarter.

English Conversation Club Volunteer
Role Summary:
We are looking for volunteers to facilitate our new English Conversation Club working in partnership with SAVTE (Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English). The Conversation Club will support clients to enhance their English language skills and to understand how to respond to real life situations. Clients who are learning English as a second language will access the Conversation Club to learn and practice words and phrases that will benefit them in their daily lives. Each week you will prepare a relevant topic to discuss with clients. The topics will range from typical daily conversations to more specific housing related interactions.
Our expert partners SAVTE run various Conversation Clubs across the city. SAVTE will provide ongoing training for the role with access to a conversation group volunteers network and insightful events to meet with other peers. Shelter will facilitate the Conversation Club and manage the volunteer roles. This is a great opportunity to work alongside two forward-thinking Charities who are looking at innovative ways to improve people’s lives.
Volunteers must be passionate about helping others to make positive and meaningful changes in their lives. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for upskilling others, enjoy facilitating learning in an interactive and enriching environment, and can organise resources that offer purposeful conversation topics for clients.
Suggested Involvement: 2 hrs per week (30 mins preps, 1hr 30 mins session)
Availability: This volunteering opportunity will take place within our working hours, Monday-Friday, 9-5.

The Conversation Club is a new offer Shelter is delivering in partnership with SATVE. Shelter is aware that people with English as a second language have greater barriers to accessing help, support and acting on their rights. The Conversation Club aims to empower individuals to break down barriers they are facing and tackle discrimination within the housing system. The opportunity will also offer clients the chance to expand their understanding of the English Language and help them integrate into their communities, increase their employment prospects, and have other beneficial factors such as parents supporting children with their homework. This is a fantastic opportunity to offer individuals support to make transformative steps in their lives and join an exciting new initiative.

Job Description
We’re looking for an ambitious PR Manager to work directly alongside our CEO to help us rapidly grow the positioning of Go Inspire International C.I.C.
This role will involve:

Developing and executing our PR strategy

Building relationships with the media

Working alongside the marketing team to ensure we’re all saying the same thing

Building the positioning of Go Inspire UK

Creating data collection and analysis systems to be able to assess and report progress and inform future strategy
Note: This role has been designed for a year to support in building and managing our systems and process but we would love to have you longer if it works for us both.

You will work alongside our CEO and Managing Director throughout 2024/5 to:

Create our events calendar for 2022 in line with our purpose, including workshops, classes, talks, fairs, festivals and anything else you can think of!

Build and manage our events team

Take ownership of managing the events

Build systems and processed to plan, execute and review all events

Report on plans and past events to the leadership team and trustee board

We have a new volunteer opportunity based at Coventry Probation Office supporting the Change Grow Live Dependency & Recovery team. You will be making a real difference to the lives of others and gaining experience of working with the Dependency & Recovery service and the Prison and Probation service.
We are looking for motivated people who have an understanding of the issues faced by the people we support. You'll be passionate about supporting people to change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.
As a Criminal Justice Dependency & Recovery Volunteer, you will work closely with Dependency and Recovery Coordinators to deliver a range of tailored activities to adult males who are on probation.
You will support in delivering psychosocial interventions to help the person on probation to achieve their goals around their substance misuse and offending behaviour.
As a Change Grow Live volunteer you will be part of a supportive team, you will have a dedicated member of staff to support and supervise you. All our volunteers receive comprehensive training and guidance to develop within the role.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Volunteer Pantry Worker to support the daily running of our Pantry in Colwyn Bay.
The postholder will play a key role in the day to day running of the Pantry, learning key aspects of the Pantry which includes welcoming customers, stock rotation, placing deliveries away effectively in colour co-ordinated sections.
Welcoming clients in a polite and friendly manner will be an essential part of the role, as well as understanding the challenges they face in attending a social supermarket.
You will be expected to work closely with the Pantry team to ensure a full person-centred approach is available to all customers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up/Set down, includes recording temperatures of fridge and freezer, completing paperwork to coincide with Health and safety records. Including Van temperatures when delivery arrives.
- Applicants will be required to accept deliveries into the Pantry and ensuring all relevant paperwork is collected from the delivery company and filed correctly.
- Once delivery has been accepted applicants will be required to participate in putting the delivery away, this will include stock rotation and cleaning duties following policies and procedures.
- Ensure delivery is put away, corresponding with the colour coded system always following all food hygiene processes.
- Cleaning duties as required in line with health and safety and food hygiene regulations.
- This is a customer facing post, and you will be required to operate our till system, using your own login details, and record information accurately in relation to client attendance and payment within the Pantry. Talk with customers, help them with nutritional advice, and offer ideas on recipes. You must know or seek knowledge of all food products, as we sometimes have exotic fruits/veg delivered.
- Training will be accessible via our skills centre. This will include mandatory training within our organisation. Food hygiene, Manual Handling and Health and Safety will be mandatory within this setting and will be provided. You will be offered training for our intranet system, where you can access the skills centre, and other great features.
