Volunteer roles

Family Friends carefully recruits, trains, and matches volunteers with families in Central-West London. Our befriending volunteers offer long-term practical and emotional support based on each family's unique needs and potential. We offer two befriending volunteer opportunities with us-, Big Buddies and Parent Buddies.

Our Big Buddies support young people, aged 10-18, for a few hours each week over a period of 6 -12 months. With encouragement and support, volunteers will aim to help young people to discover their strengths and build confidence.

Support may look like:

• Helping to strengthen family relationships.
• Providing a listening ear 
• Taking young person to the cinema, museums, libraries - broadening their horizons!

Essential Criteria:

• Can commit to the Big Buddies programme for a minimum of 6 months
• 18+
• Must have lived in the UK for the last 2 years

What we provide in return:

• References provided after 6 months' commitment
• Reimbursement of travel and session expenses

Borough Market is London’s oldest food Market. It was established on the south bank of the Thames around 1,000 years ago and has occupied its present site for over 250 years. Borough Market was formally registered as a charity (076940) in the Charity Commission’s records on 6th August 1999.

Its main charitable purpose is “the provision of a market as a public amenity for the benefit of the public”. In delivering our charitable objectives and strategy, the trustees of Borough Market are required to manage the Trust’s investments efficiently and to bring about the regeneration and refurbishment of the Market and its estate. Trustees need to act as a ‘critical friend’, providing vital checks and balances, and be committed to supporting the Market in its ambition to be the best in the world.

We are delighted to be advertising for a new trustee to boost a balanced Board that reflects our activities and the community in which the Market operates. We are particularly keen to recruit an individual who has knowledge of and experience in the food industry, food supply chain sustainability and food policy.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Paramedics to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc. This may encompass working on both ambulances / FRV’s and within treatment units as required.

Successful candidates will be registered Paramedics with the HCPC and be able to provide evidence of CPD activity within the previous 12 months.

As a County Fundraising & Priory Lead of Tyne & Wear, you will be part of the establishment of a County St John Council to oversee and guide volunteer Community Networks aims to create a structured and supportive framework that empowers volunteers to operate more effectively and efficiently. By providing strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight, the council ensures that volunteer efforts align with community needs and priorities while avoiding duplication of services.

St John has embarked on a journey to achieve the goal of ensuring that every community and young person across the country is first aid confident.

We are looking for a leader with a passion for local volunteering and helping communities to inspire and support volunteers on this journey across your county

The post will also interact with relevant Communities of Practice to share learning, advice and best practice

Open to working flexibly and collaboratively. Required to undertake mandatory training and role specific induction, engage with Continuing Professional Development relevant to role. A willingness to travel across the county is required in order to undertake in-person elements of role. Attend monthly County Council meetings.

About the Science Council Registration Authority

The RA is responsible for maintaining robust and high-quality professional standards and ensuring that all registrants meet these standards.  The Chair provides strategic leadership of the RA, working with Licensed Bodies and other partners in supporting the development and growth of the Science Council’s licensing standards and professional registers.

 The current Chair, Dr Hilary Jeffreys CSci, will step down from the role at the end of May 2026. 

Who should apply

Applicants should:

· A track record of being an effective Chair and strong communicator.

· Already hold, or be eligible for, Science Council registration.

· Inspire trust and confidence in our Licensed Bodies.

· A commitment to the part the professional registers play in raising the profile of science and the status of scientists.

Co-Chair Option

In addition to welcoming applications from individuals seeking to serve as sole Chair, the Science Council Board also welcomes a co-Chair arrangement. This may suit individuals who are interested in the role but do not feel they have the time or capacity to take sole leadership. In this instance, at least one of the co-Chairs will need to hold, or be eligible for, Science Council registration. Please indicate on your application whether you are interested in sharing the role as co-Chair.

Term and Commitment

The post-holder(s) 

• will serve for an initial three-year term.

• are expected to chair quarterly RA meetings (held online)
• will attend and present at quarterly Board meetings (two per year are held in person).
• will liaise with Science Council staff between meetings is required for planning, preparation and follow up.

Co-Chairs will be expected to work collaboratively and share responsibilities equally.

● Collaborate with the founder via Zoom or other remote communication tools to refine the vision and operational plans

● Provide input on trustee roles, governance, and advisory contacts

● Assist with early-stage fundraising planning and engagement with local stakeholders

● Serve as a sounding board for strategic decisions and project priorities

● Resident of the UK, ideally with some knowledge of charity operations, community projects, or education

● Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to helping the project progress, especially in the first 2 years

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

As an Operational Support Team Member, you’ll support St John Ambulance in deploying equipment to events and activities within your community, as well as support the maintaining of equipment to ensure networks are properly resourced.

Through volunteering as an Operational Support Team Member, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride providing essential resources to our medical and education teams. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Volunteer with us at Evesham United Charity Matchday on 7th March 2026

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £13 million a year to run our care services.

What's involved?

Evesham United have recently been promoted to the Southern League and will be playing against Berkhamsted. The day will be filled with lots of fun!

We are looking for volunteers who can support with:

• Bucket collectors
• Selling raffle tickets
• Running tombola  

You will also recieve free tickets to the game. 

How much time will it take? 

The event is from 1:30- 5:30 pm you can volunteer all day or do as many hours as you like.
