Living Streets is the UK charity for everyday walking. Our mission is to create a better walking environment and inspire more people to walk and wheel as part of everyday life.
We are looking for Trustees to join our Board and help steer the charity as we prepare to launch our new strategy, taking us up to our centenary in 2029. This is an opportunity to support a charity whose work can influence everyone’s daily life.
About Living Streets
With our thousands of members and supporters, we campaign for positive change and influence policies that improve our streets. Our work includes encouraging families to walk to school, supporting slower speed limits, and tackling pavement parking and street clutter.
We also manage innovative national projects with schools, communities and workplaces to encourage more people to walk short journeys. Our year-round walk to school challenge captures the imagination of children in more than 2,000 schools.
Alongside this, we work with local authorities and businesses to improve streets and public spaces. Our research and reports, including The Pedestrian Pound, make a substantial contribution to the active travel agenda.

As Treasurer, you'll be the guardian of our wonderful theatre's finances. It'll be your job to keep the committee updated on the theatre's financial affairs. You'll have a full understanding of the Bookkeeper's role, and oversee their work - or, if you wish, you may volunteer for that role too (details available on request). As Treasurer, you'll prepare an annual budget for the theatre, then manage and track progress, producing quarterly reports on actual income and expenditure vs budget. You'll then produce annual accounts for presentation to the independent examiner, and the wider membership at the AGM. The role requires around 25 hours per month of your time, plus an additional commitment at year end. You'll join the board of trustees, which entails a DBS check, and you'll attend monthly committee meetings, in which you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the general running of the theatre.
Training
Over the course of several months, you'll receive a comprehensive handover from the existing Treasurer. At first, you'll shadow them to gain a full understanding of what's required, then they'll shadow you, offering as much support as you need until you're ready to take the reins.
Skills
You'll have a love of numbers (and spreadsheets!), a forensic attention to detail, and great organisational skills. You'll be good at presenting data to people who aren't as mathsy as you, and keen to join a team of friendly, passionate volunteers. This role will be a great fit for a trainee accountant looking for experience, a retiree with bookkeeping or accounting skills, or a self-proclaimed maths geek with time to spare, and a desire to be part of a wonderful community of people.

VOLUNTEER ADMINISTRATOR
Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.
Our Administrator volunteers are the lynchpin our local branch activities. They act as the first point of contact, ensure useful information is circulated to other members and help us make sure we keep all the data and details we need up to date.
What the role involves
This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:

NEW TRUSTEES AND TREASURER WANTED FOR AGE UK MERTON BOARD
Age UK Merton is an independent charity operating within the national Age UK network. We provide services for older adults in the London Borough of Merton in south-west London. Our role is to ensure that older adults can easily access the support, services and care they need and to help older adults to live active and fulfilling lives. Our comprehensive services are specifically designed to support older people and reach around 3,000 Merton residents a year.

Role description – Trustee
Trustees have a number of core duties, including ensuring the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and relevant legislation; ensuring it pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document; actively contributing to Board discussions and giving strategic direction to the organisation; ensuring the financial stability of the organisation; and ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
In addition, Trustees should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board to reach sound decisions, including by scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues and working on sub-committees and working groups.
Role description – Treasurer
The role of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of Age UK Merton’s finances, ensuring financial viability and that proper financial record-keeping and procedures are maintained.
In addition to the duties of a Trustee, the duties of the Treasurer are:
· Chairing the Finance Committee and reporting to the Board.
· Ensuring the financial resources of Age UK Merton meet its present and future needs.
· Ensuring that Age UK Merton has appropriate reserves and investment policies.
· Undertaking spot checks on payroll and online payments.
· Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
· Advising on the financial implications of Age UK Merton’s strategic plans.
· Ensuring that there is no conflict between any investment held and the aims and objects of Age UK Merton.
· Monitoring Age UK Merton’s investment activity and ensuring its consistency with Age UK Merton’s policies and legal responsibilities.
· Ensuring that accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, e.g. the charity commission and/or the registrar of companies.
· Ensuring that accounts are scrutinised through the annual audit and any recommendations are implemented.

· Making a formal presentation of the accounts at the AGM and drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way.
Commitment required
Trustees have a significant responsibility within the organisation, so it is important that you can commit time to read and consider papers and reports, attend meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
Trustees meet a minimum of six times a year, which usually includes four Board meetings, the AGM and an away day. Board meetings are held in the evening, with the AGM held in the afternoon and the away day held during a working day. We alternate between in-person and remote meetings. We also have sub-committees which meet several times a year, also in the evenings.
Trustees are expected to devote the necessary time to ensure they are fully prepared to actively participate in all meetings.
In addition to the above, the Treasurer would have a regular catch-up meeting with the Head of Finance.

SARA (launched 2026) evolved from that vision, thanks to all the women and supporters who came before us. Our founders understood that sexual violence doesn’t happen in isolation. It intersects with race, disability, poverty, sexuality and gender identity. So, our support must reflect this reality.
We exist to support survivors of sexual violence through trauma-informed care, advocacy, and community connection.
We’re a feminist organisation providing counselling, helpline support, Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy (ISVA), community support and digital resources for women affected by gender-based violence. We believe in putting people at the centre of our care, meeting them where they are.
While we dream of systemic change, our primary focus is providing the specialist support survivors need right now – from early support to long-term healing, from practical advocacy to building supportive communities.

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) want to strengthen their Board of Trustees with up to 4 new Trustee appointments. These are voluntary positions and provide opportunity to help SWAN to develop its strategic direction and sustain innovative services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
SWAN began life in Wiltshire and over the past 25 years has expanded into Somerset, Bristol, Dorset, Isle of Wight, West Berkshire, Portsmouth, East Sussex and Worcestershire. We deliver high quality, independent advocacy services supporting a diverse range of vulnerable people. We have developed a model of advocacy which ensures everyone, including the most marginalised, have the same rights and opportunities as their fellow citizens. Our services are free at the point of delivery, confidential and non-judgemental.
We work with people from all walks of life and have supported thousands of the most disadvantaged people to have their voice heard and their choices respected by those that are making decisions about their future.
We are looking for dynamic and empathetic people to become Trustees within our organisation, people who have the passion and drive to support SWAN and help us to ensure that the voices around our Board table reflect and understand the communities we work in. We would encourage people from all sections of our communities to apply , but particularly Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled, and LGBTQ+ applicants because these groups are currently under-represented on our Board. We are happy to accept applications from people without prior Board experience but who can evidence their commitment to our purpose, values and ambitions and show a willingness to learn in the role.
The organisation is led and managed by the Chief Executive and the Executive Team who oversee the delivery of our services and the infrastructure that underpins them, and we believe that this, coupled with sound governance, will help us to achieve our vision and maximise our reach and impact.
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate some of the following:
• Experiences that will bring different perspectives to our organisation i.e. being a member of, or working in, diverse or minority communities.
• Having direct experience of using advocacy or support services
• An understanding of, or interest in, the lives of vulnerable adults including those who have been victims of hate crime
• An understanding of, or interest in, the wider voluntary sector
• A commitment and willingness to improving the lives of vulnerable people
• Integrity, strategic vision and relationship building skills
• Governance, finance, and/or entrepreneurial experience
• Good communication skills and knowing how to work as part of a team
• For the treasurer role some experience of managing and understanding budgets and financial reports would also be required.
Time commitment averages 1 day a month, meeting locations are flexible and either face to face or virtual. Trustee expenses, including travel are paid.
