Be the voice of Marie Curie in your local library network

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We’re looking for dedicated Community Engagement Volunteers to support Marie Curie’s outreach efforts across libraries in Solihull.

This is a unique opportunity to help raise awareness of the vital support services Marie Curie offers to people living with terminal illness and their families.

What you’ll be doing

As a Community Engagement Volunteer supporting libraries, you will:

• Take responsibility for 3 - 6 local libraries, depending on your location.
• Build positive relationships with library staff and engage with library users where appropriate.
• Share key information and offer a listening ear to others
• Monitor stock levels of Marie Curie information materials and top them up as needed.
• Amplify the voices of those affected by terminal illness and bereavement
• Record stock checks and activity using a simple Microsoft Office form and return it to the Community Engagement Team.
• Look out for additional opportunities within the library to share Marie Curie’s Information & Support resources

About Jak’s World

Jak’s World is a UK-based mental health charity working to prevent suicide in the community. We honour the legacy of Jakub Halani — a creative, kind, and deeply loved teenager — by ensuring that no young person feels alone, hopeless, or without a future.

Our mission is to prevent suicide by fostering hope, connection, and resilience-ensuring that no one faces their darkest moments alone.

We do this by:

· Promoting mental health awareness through creative community engagement, programmes and events.

· Providing suicide prevention resources and support, including Suicide First Aid Training

· Providing positive experiences and hopeful messaging at schools, festivals, and online.

· Empowering people to talk, share, and connect through art, music, and peer-led initiatives.

Becoming a trustee

As a Trustee of Jak’s World, you will play a vital role in shaping our direction, safeguarding our mission, and supporting our passionate team.

Our Trustees provide governance and strategic leadership, ensure accountability, and help Jak’s World grow its reach, credibility, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to shaping Jak’s World’s long-term vision, values, and strategy.

ABOUT TESYouth 

TESYouth (Training, Employment Opportunities & Social Development for Youth) is a NFP social enterprise which focuses on improving the rate of youth employment, through volunteering, interactive and skill-based workshops, work-experience and training programmes. Together with our strategic partners, we collaborate with organisations to provide youth to develop their skills, and to assist in achieving their career aspirations.

We are seeking two passionate and affective advocates for the arts to join Nottingham Playhouse’s Board of Trustees.

Awarded Theatre of the Year 2025 in The Stage awards, Nottingham Playhouse is one of the country’s leading producing theatres, creating work that’s bold, thrilling and proudly made in Nottingham. Our wide-reaching participation programmes create life-changing experiences for our community and we also support the next generation of theatre-makers in the East Midlands through our extensive artist development programme.

As a registered charity, all of the funds we raise help to ensure we’re reaching as many people as possible to give them new opportunities and create lasting memories.

We are now seeking two new Trustees to join our Board. To complement the specialisms of our current governance, we are particularly seeking applicants with specialisms in the following areas:

• Legal
• HR
• Accountancy
• Governance
• Theatre producing
• Health and safety
• Business experience
• Property

The Board meets six times a year in Nottingham, and each Trustee also attends at least one subgroup, which meet bimonthly or quarterly. Reasonable expenses for attending Board meetings will be offered. Trustees are also expected to attend press nights for each in-house production and support other Nottingham Playhouse activities and Participation programmes whenever possible.

The attributes we are seeking in potential Trustees include:
