About The Role

Why do we need you?
At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we are involved in creating and conserving wetlands and the species who live in them.  At Washington Wetland Centre we develop and maintain visitor areas which provide enjoyable areas which enhance the visitor experience. 
 
What will you be doing?
• Cleaning and tidying of visitor areas including signage, handrails, seating and litter picking paths
• Ensuring the site remains presentable by regularly monitoring signage and visitor infrastructure for wear or damage and reporting this to Wardens for repair
• Seasonally changing signs over from autumn/winter to spring/summer content when needed

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

About You

Who are we looking for?
This role would suit you if:
• You are able to work both independently and as part of a team
• You are physically fit and do not mind working outdoors in all weathers
• You are able to communicate effectively, including the ability to interact with visitors you may meet whilst undertaking your role in order to engage them with the work of WWT
 
We are particularly looking for volunteers who are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Sundays. Please note, this role is not suitable for under 18’s.

Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Progressive Farming Trust is looking for new board members

Progressive Farming Trust is a charity working to advance collective knowledge and practice in environmentally sensitive and organic farming.

We focus on three main areas:

• Enhancing knowledge exchange, education, and training that drive on-farm action
• Supporting farm businesses to adopt more resilient and sustainable models
• Strengthening shorter, fairer supply chains that empower both farmers and consumers

To help deliver these priorities we run:

• Agricology, a free information hub where farmers and growers can access practical guidance about sustainable agriculture
• Dean Organic Fund, offering small interest free loans to organic farmers

Established in 1980, the Trust has a long history of supporting progressive farming. For many years we worked as the Organic Research Centre, and following a de-merger in September 2025, we have refocused our activities and are now developing a new strategy to guide our future work.

We are recruiting up to four new volunteer Directors to join our Board and help strengthen the organisation. The Board currently meets quarterly (around one day every three months), either in person or online.

We welcome applications from people who bring any of the following:

• Experience as a grower, farmer, or food producer
• Knowledge of charity sector finance
• An interest in improving uptake of knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture and food supply chains

We are actively working to build a more inclusive and diverse Board and particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in food growing, farming, and the environmental sector. We value lived experience as well as professional expertise.

There are over 4000 parks in Greater London. We aim to map them all with useful information for local residents and visitors to London. We also support people that help look after their local parks.

Using your good networking skills and organisational abilities, this role handles the marketing and promotion of the GoParks projects: the website, its map, providing supportive information to Friends’ groups who champion their local parks in collaboration with the London Friends of Greenspaces Network (LFGN).

You'll be joining a small team who focus on this initiative under the CPRE London umbrella. With your support we can do even more! Comms and PR volunteers have an essential role in spreading the word about our work and engaging with new groups and supporters in our area.

By volunteering with us you’ll be helping to find positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and the environment. By applying your skills and experience you can make a real difference and be a central part of a friendly and passionate charity.

We’re ideally looking for volunteers with experience in networking, managing promotional social media channels for professional or personal use, who can preferably offer us an ongoing commitment. To maximise effectiveness in this role and to make it a beneficial experience for you, a 6 month or ongoing commitment is preferred. 

Working pattern 

Hours: 7-14 hours per week 

Pattern: delivery can be flexible but availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (popular part time working days) would be beneficial. Location: Hybrid - with weekly office attendance on one of the above days.

We provide out-of-pocket travel expenses should this be required.

Fundraising Events Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to be part of a dedicated and friendly team of volunteers and make a real difference to the lives of cats and kittens in our care?  Do you enjoy planning and organising for events?  Maybe you have a particular skill that you would like to put to use?
 
Then this could be the role for you! 
 
Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats. 

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar. 

Time Expectation:  This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible. 

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
