Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our Streatham shop is looking for friendly and reliable Customer Service Volunteers to support the day-to-day running of the store and help create a welcoming experience for our customers.
By volunteering with us, you’ll not only support our charitable work but also contribute to creating a positive experience for our community of customers. You’ll also play a key role in ensuring that items FARA cannot sell are responsibly redirected, helping us further our commitment to a sustainable economy.
The Role:
- As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with stock placement and replenishment on the shop floor
- Creating and maintaining engaging product displays
- Greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Using the till as part of day-to-day shop operations

Your Time:
Our shop operates from 10:00 to 18:00, and we’re looking for someone who can volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours a day, either in the Morning or Afternoon at least once a week, by arrangement with the shop manager.

Are you passionate about tackling homelessness and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives? Emmaus Greenwich is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help steer our vital work in London.
Who We Are:
Emmaus Greenwich provides a home, support, and meaningful work through our social enterprises, giving people experiencing homelessness a reason to get up in the morning and a path to regain independence.
Your Role as a Trustee:
- Help shape our strategy and ensure goals align with our vision.
- Provide governance and oversight, ensuring compliance and robust management.
- Volunteer your time (meetings are held five times a year) and potentially get involved in projects.
Who We're Looking For:
We're keen to build a diverse board with skills in:
- Finance & Business Development
- Human Resources (HR)
- Retail & Social Enterprise
- Housing Law
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
Time Commitment:
Trustees at Emmaus Greenwich serve for up to three terms of three years each. The Board meets every two months, both in person and online, and also comes together for an annual in-person strategy session, usually held in winter.
There are three internal sub-committees, each focusing on a specific area of the organisation’s work. These committees also meet every two months, either in person or online, and every trustee is expected to join at least one.

As a Volunteer Sales Assistant, you will be the friendly face of our shop, making donors, customers and supporters feel welcome.

PURPOSE
To assist the Shop Manger in the running of an Age UK East Sussex Charity Shop with a focus on serving customers, driving sales and store presentation.
We are currently looking for volunteers on weekdays and weekends.

ROLE OF THE VOLUNTEER
· Greet and thank customers in a polite and friendly manner
· Assist customers in choosing items and actively promote sales
· Replenish and display stock in the shop throughout the day
· Receive donations and complete Gift Aid paperwork
· Handle cash and operate the till following correct procedure
· Take credit card payments using the Streamline system
· Assist in keeping the shop clean and tidy following the cleaning rota
· Undertake other tasks as required by the Shop Manager
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED
· Great communication and interpersonal skills
· A pleasant and friendly manner
· Basic numeracy skills

AS A VOLUNTEER WE WOULD ASK YOU TO
· Support the Mission and Vision of Age UK East Sussex by helping us to ensure that our county is a place where people in later life flourish
· Be available to volunteer for at least one regular shift each week. This could be a morning, afternoon or whole day. Depending on the store we open Monday – Sunday.
