We're RAIN, a non-profit charity supporting community-led reforestation and ecosystem restoration projects in Brazil. We work with Indigenous communities, rural cooperatives and urban associations to reforest land and restore ecosystems as well as provide food security, livelihoods and training to the communities we work with.
We have an opportunity for talented, committed and passionate people to make a real difference to RAIN by joining our ambitious and friendly team on our Board of Trustees to help drive the charity forward. We are looking for people who can bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.
The role of a Trustee is to ensure that RAIN fulfils its duty to our beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, mission and values. The board of trustees are both jointly and individually responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with legal and regulatory guidelines. The statutory duties of all trustees include:
1. Ensuring that the organisation complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
2. Maintaining financial control and ensuring that the organisation does not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objects, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are.
3. Contributing actively to the board of trustees in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
4. Drawing up and monitoring the implementation of internal policies which must include equality and diversity, GDPR, as well as health and safety policies and key human resources policies, including grievance and disciplinary policies.
5. Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation and help maintain effective board performance.

The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Centre recently celebrated 25 years of work improving end of life care given by generalist frontline teams. GSF is the leading provider of training in end of life care for generalist front line staff across health and social care. We have trained and accredited thousands of teams, influenced national policy and practice and GSF has improved the care for many millions of people and their families.
Much has been achieved but there is still more to do ... We have a bold and exciting vision to ensure that everyone experiences Gold Standard end of life care. We want to see a big increase in the number of people that are trained, and we want to influence policy to make Gold Standard end of life care a requirement. We have recently become a CIO charity and as we enter a new chapter of our story, we are seeking new trustees to help us to achieve our vision and contribute to our strategic purpose.
Could you help us achieve these goals? We are a small team and value the contribution of our trustees, partners, associates and professional reference groups. Trustees will typically attend 4-6 online board meetings a year, along with other communications and support between meetings, plus occasional strategy away days.

Being confident about managing your own money might not sound unusual. But for many young people, it’s a real challenge, and one which holds potentially major risks. Knowing where to go for money advice, and who to trust, is so much more than just good personal admin – it’s a building block of social mobility.
MyBnk is a leading financial education charity, working towards the creation of a financially capable generation across all four nations of the UK. We support young people between the ages of 5 and 25, with a particular focus on those who can’t afford for things to go wrong. Our award-winning programmes are highly effective and well-regarded, and we’ve grown rapidly in recent years, but there’s still much more to do. Today’s young people face a far less predictable job market, with high rents, economic uncertainty, and an increasingly complex financial marketplace. So we want to extend our reach and impact by an order of magnitude in the next few years: and to do that, we want to strengthen our Board with a number of new Trustees.
We have four opportunities to help guide and steer this exciting, high-growth charity into its next phase. Two of this round of appointments will be qualified accountants, ideally with experience in a Big Four firm or corporate environment. Our rapid recent growth – from £1m to £4m turnover in just a few years – has been enabled and underpinned by strong financial controls, and we will also ask these trustees to join our Finance Committee. The Outrunners support young people to get outdoors, get moving, and build the futures they want - all through the power of running, movement and the community. Our vision is a London where everyone is included and no one is left behind.
The young people we work with have incredible talent, creativity and energy but don’t get the opportunities they need because of deep structural disadvantages - racism, sexism and financial inequality.
We harness the collective energy of the running world to change that: helping young people access fun, accessible movement and running, access opportunities that help them build the futures they want, and work to change how their local area supports them.

What we need from our Trustees?
Trustees must be people with independent judgement, an ability to speak their mind and a willingness to use their knowledge, experience, and networks to support The Outrunners.
Although not essential, we are particularly interested in trustees with either of the following skills and experience:
1. Experience navigating periods of rapid growth and scaling, including continuing to secure the resources that are required to do this sustainably and managing the risks this entails. We envisage candidates with this experience might have experience in finance, tech, or running or investing in start-ups; or
2. Experience influencing and driving positive change in sports, (particularly change that supports under-represented groups) to access better support and greater opportunities. We envisage candidates who have experience within the running world (or similar sports) with the brands, races, events or media.
Beyond this, the things we need from our Trustees are:

Time Commitment Expectations:
Board members are expected to attend the four quarterly meetings and AGM, whilst also being flexible and responsive to unexpected changes. Our Board members are active ambassadors for The Outrunners Charity. This means attending and supporting events and taking opportunities to promote and develop the work of The Outrunners Charity through networks and contacts. We therefore ask that Board members commit about 2 days per year to The Outrunners Charity, on top of the four evening Board Meetings a year and an AGM.
The four essential board meetings are 3 hours long. Meetings are held at a date and time which is convenient for all, which is usually a weekday evening, and are held online until it is safe to do so face to face.
Minimum tenure for a Trustee is 2 years.

Walk to Independence (WTI) is an emerging charity committed to bridging the gap in support services for adults with special educational needs (SEN) transitioning out of formal education settings. Position Overview:
WTI is in the process of establishment and is actively seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to serve as founding trustees. Trustees play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of the organisation, particularly in the crucial phase of charity registration.

Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to guide WTI in achieving its mission and objectives.

Mid Norfolk Mencap was established since 1977, and every year we provide residential living, social opportunities, and specialised Community Outreach support for more than 100 people with a learning disability in Norfolk. Position: Trustee

Training

We will customise a training and familiarisation package for the successful candidate based on prior knowledge and experience.

About the role
Although we recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of all, the Safeguarding Trustee will take the lead on safeguarding, supporting the board and chief executive.
The safeguarding trustee will:
- review and implement safeguarding policies and procedures
- ensure there is an annual review
- be aware of safeguarding legislation and other relevant obligations including the safeguarding expectations of the Charity Commission
- produce and deliver safeguarding reports to the board
- produce and assist with safeguarding training
- support the trustees to develop their understanding of safeguarding

About the board
Our board of trustees is a friendly, dedicated and active group. Our six trustees help run committees and groups, and are passionate about the goals of the organisation. The board meets once a month at present (this will move to less frequently in time), and meets remotely over Teams.

The Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland (APM) is one of the world's largest representative bodies of medical/healthcare professionals practicing or interested in palliative care, with a growing membership of over 1,400. Most members are doctors, and supporting them is the core focus of the APM. APM members support patients with life threatening illnesses to live and die as well as possible. It is the APM's mission to promote, facilitate, advance and develop excellence for the benefit of every individual patient and those important to them. As part of a wider governance review, the APM is making some exciting changes to it's organisational structures. The current Board will become the APM Council with a focus on professional matters and the creation of a new Board of Trustees will oversee the administration of the APM as a professional membership body and hold elected Officers to account.
About the APM:
The APM is a registered charity, and so it has a Board of Trustees acting as its governing body. The Board of Trustees is responsible for agreeing the APM business plan and monitoring the progress of APM affairs. Trustees also act as the custodians of the APM, ensuring effective management and administration and are registered as APM Directors with Companies House.
About the Lay Trustee Role:
As a Lay Trustee, you will have the opportunity to work closely with fellow Trustees to shape the future of the APM. You will note that a medical background is not a pre-requisite of the role. As part of the Board of Trustees you will use your expertise in either a) financial management or b) equity, diversity and inclusion to ensure the APM is solvent, well-run, and delivering on its charitable objective.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Be willing to act as a Trustee of the organisation and accept ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of a charity, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up.
- Ensure that the Board operates within the APM's charitable objective, its governing document and provides clear strategic direction to the APM.
- Fulfil Trustee duties to ensure sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability.
- Support the Chair of the Board of Trustees, President and Board Officers whilst respecting the boundaries of those roles.
Time commitment
The APM Board of Trustees will normally hold four meetings per year (likely to be a mixture of in-person and hybrid meetings). On average, it is estimated that the time commitment will equate to half a day per month, spread irregularly over a 12-month period. Trustees will serve a three-year term. Individual tenure may be extended by up to a maximum of a further three-year term to ensure orderly succession planning, subject to the agreement of the membership.

Overall responsibility:
- Leading on the financial affairs of the Foodbank; ensuring that they are conducted within the required legal, accounting and good practice conventions;
- To work in partnership with the Chair and Trustees to ensure the financial viability and development of the Foodbank..
Key tasks are to ensure that the Trustees:
- Fulfil their financial responsibilities
- Have proper systems for budgeting, financial control, insurances, and reporting;
- Are informed by written report, at least on a quarterly basis; ensuring they have a clear picture of the financial health of the food bank;
- Develop a long-term strategy for the Foodbank with clear objectives, monitored and flexible
- Have reports in proper format, comprehensible and discussed properly at Trustee meetings including the AGM;
- Provide Annual Reports as required by the Charity Commission after proper independent examination
Other responsibilities - include working with Trustees to support appropriate:
- Financial plans for future budget allocations; looking after contractual agreements with external partners awarding money for core costs;
- Procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding, GDPR compliance/data protection;
- Promotion of the Foodbank to a wider audience of potential funders and beneficiaries; promote the Foodbank within the wider community;
- To act with reasonable care and skill, giving time, thought and energy to your role.

- To have a knowledge and understanding of the work of the Foodbank;
- To be respectful of the values the Foodbank was founded upon;
- To be enthusiastic about and involved with the operation;
- Previous experience and/or demonstrated ability in financial accounting and reporting procedures; communicating financial information to those who may have little financial background; and keeping all financial records up to date.
By leading on the financial matters for the Foodbank, you are part of providing an important support responsibility in your local community; ensuring a dignified experience to our clients and all who come into contact with Rochdale Foodbank.
In volunteering you will be using your existing skills to make a difference; you will meet people who share your passion to eradicate poverty in the local community and you will make a real difference to the running of the Foodbank.
A full Trustee induction is in place to support a prospective candidate within their role, as well as access to local voluntary Trustee training through Action Together or the Trussell Trust.
