We are looking for someone like you to facilitate our monthly special interest group for blind and partially sighted people who are interested in these topics and who would like to share their experience with others.

You will contribute to the group to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that the group runs smoothly.
This group will run monthly either over the telephone or as a video call.

We’re looking for an empathic person with good listening skills to facilitate our new group for blind and partially sighted veterans. You might be a veteran yourself but this isn’t essential. You’ll help the group run smoothly and the participants to feel comfortable.

We are looking for an assistant to help our film director as we enter post production at the end of a 3 year (fun) film project about the personal lives of Cancer Research Scientists. This film will pay tribute to the incredible work these amazing (often very young) scientists do, and until now: their dedication has often been overlooked.  This is a first-of-its-kind movie, shot in wide-screen cinema scope and is intended for release on ALL platforms, Sky, Netflix, Amazon, Apple.  We have refused production funds from the big platforms (funding the entire film project ourselves) in order to keep control of WHERE the movie can be distributed and to allow all film revenue profits to go to cancer research UK.This will stop greedy networks from blocking each other in distributing the film. We want every country around the world to be able to broadcast the movie because half of the world's 8 billion people will suffer cancer at some point in their lives, and we want cancer sufferers worldwide to see this heartwarming film showing amazing scientists working tirelessly to find new cures. About the Back-End Node.js Course Designer role

From 2020 to 2021 we developed and delivered a full-time course that allowed twenty students to progress from absolute beginners to industry-ready front-end software developers, and they are now all working in US/European tech teams remotely from Madagascar.

Our challenge now is to scale our organisation, bringing opportunities to hundreds, moving to thousands of students. An important part of this will be diversifying our tech stack and train back-end developers to work alongside our front-end developers. Your mission as our Back-End Course Designer is to rebuild this back-end course, from the ground up, into a highly scalable online-style programme.

Your responsibilities include:

• Conducting preliminary research to determine which languages and technologies should be included in the course. 
• Finding existing online material and incorporating useful material into the course
• Creating engaging video lectures, learning activities and course content
• Collaborate with past Onja lecturers, incorporating their specific experience into your course design.

• Deciding on the criteria used to assess students’ performance and develop assessments.
• As we are a startup social enterprise there will likely be opportunities to wear many hats, contributing to other parts of the organisation. 

Requirements

• Twelve month commitment (this ensures sufficient time to make a truly meaningful impact) with potential to renew/extend.

• At least one year professional Back-End experience
• Preferably three or more years of Back-End experience however a willingness to learn and grow in the role is most important to us.
• An interest in teaching and course design.

Our first cohort contained 19 developers and we plan to train hundreds of students in the coming years. Our challenge now is to scale our organisation, bringing opportunities to hundreds, moving to thousands of students. Your mission as our English Course Designer is to rebuild this course, from the ground up, into a highly scalable online-style programme.

Your responsibilities include:

• Creating engaging video lectures, learning activities and course content to build on an existing course. 
• Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
• Collaborate with existing Onja teachers, incorporating their specific experience into your course design.
• Applying tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
• Decide on the criteria used to assess learners’ performance and develop assessment instruments.
• Maintain project documentation and course folders.

This is a pivotal role for Onja at this exciting time. We are poised to grow fast and our dream is to train thousands of new students each year. You will be setting the foundations not just for this first cohort but the waves of youth that will follow in future years.

Requirements

• A twelve-month commitment is preferred.

• Instructional design experience as well as teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) experience is preferred however a willingness to learn and grow in the role is most important to us.

• Creating engaging video lectures, learning activities and course content
• Collaborate with existing Onja lecturers, incorporating their specific experience into your course design.

Responsibilities:

• providing accurate, relevant and timely advice to management and staff on a needs basis in respect of a broad range of issues, with a particular focus on employment law and dispute resolution;
• ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the organisation;
• managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing organisational policies and procedures;
• collaborating with third parties, including external counsel and regulators, as needed; and
• designing and delivering legal training to the organisation;

Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent

• Helping design and deliver an online scalable English course to a class of high-potential and highly committed students
• Developing curriculum, lessons and strategies to make sure Onja’s recipient speaks English with clear RP pronunciation
• Executing lessons efficiently using different styles of teaching depending on the content.
• Editing and improving lessons after delivery
• Preparing, scheduling and correcting Onja English exams
• Systematically maintaining and updating student records with English KPI
• Mentoring the students at Onja academically

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances in Mid-Sussex RH15, RH16, RH17, BN6, BN45.
• Providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.
