We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Advice and Support team and make a huge difference to the community - only 3 hours a week!

Can you help? Do you:

• have experience of giving advice and support and/or 

• have experience working with vulnerable people and are interested in learning about advice giving and/or

• not yet have experience but are interested in this area of work and can help with admin, making posters, speaking with guests

Hours: 10am to 1pm on Thursdays (3 hours per week) 

Location & Transport: Saint Michaels Church Hall, 37 Bounds Green Rd, London, N22 8SD (7 min walk from Wood Green tube station, 16 min walk from Bowes Park overground station)

About Bounds Green Food Bank:

Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,300 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items to build a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people who find themselves in a crisis situation where they need assistance to feed themselves and their families.

The Advice and Support Team:

The team provides help with increasing income via benefits and other allowances, signposting to other support services and providing practical help to our guests. Some cases are one off but we also see guests over several appointments where there are ongoing issues.

The role:

• Work in a team and alongside an experienced advisor.

• Meet guests for their scheduled appointments

• Provide advice on benefit calculations and applications, debt, housing, support into work and/or training and other practical help.

• Provide support to guests on completing applications, making phone calls and writing emails.

• If you would like to volunteer to provide administrative support to the service instead of providing advice, we would love to hear from you too!

• You will receive training and be supported by an experienced advisor at all times

Admin Support for Project Facilitator

As the Project Facilitator at Grow Your Life I am seeking admin support. I am dyslexic and neurodiverse – I struggle with reading/ writing and organising information and would really benefit from a support administrator.

I am receiving organisational support via the LGBT+ Consortium and would really benefit from an admin support volunteer to join me at these meetings.

Key tasks to support me in my role:

• Scheduling diary
• Help with drafting and sending emails

• Supporting with online research – to find relevant information

I am looking for someone who has excellent administration skills and is well organised to support me.

Why am I needed?

We’re looking for volunteer photographers to come to take photos of the Team Tenovus Cancer Care running team. We have over 100 runners taking on the half marathon this year and we need your help to capture some great images of them!

These photographs may be used in marketing for the event in the following years, along with being shared on Tenovus Cancer Care’s various social media challenges.

What will I be doing?

Meeting & greeting the event participants alongside our events team 

Taking individual and group shots of the participants before they leave and during the event 

Cheering on and encouraging our event participants as they embark on their challenge 

Taking photos of our runners as they return to the race village and post-race reception, celebrating their fantastic achievement!

 What skills do I need?

 A fun, friendly, professional and outgoing personality

Confidence and good communication skills

An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care

Experience with photography 

Confidence to set up group photographs and direct our participants

Use of your own photography kit

How much time do I need to commit?

We appreciate any time you can give. Tenovus Cancer Care will be at the race village from around 8am – 4pm. Our post-race reception will take place between 11am – 4pm. Our cheer stations will be open from 9am – 2pm.

Where will I be based?

Please state if you’d prefer to be listed at Cardiff City Centre or Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff City Centre is where the race village is located and the race starts and finishes. We’ll also be holding a post-race reception in the city centre (exact location to be confirmed.) You’ll capture photos of our runners before and after they take on the race.

Cardiff Bay is where we hold our cheer station, you’ll capture our runners as they run pass on route.

We are currently recruiting a Volunteer Counsellor to join our Governance Team in their safeguarding and support of our Clinic. Please be aware a 2-6pm Saturday in person commitment is required.

We are searching for a counsellor who is able to provide support to both our clients and our internal team of volunteers. They must be able to provide vital mental health support to those navigating vulnerable situations, therefore we are searching for a friendly and experienced counsellor to join our team. They will help our clients and staff in clinic proceedings where conversations may take an emotional toll, and help the team through regular meetings with our volunteers.

Why am I needed?

We’re looking to gather a team of enthusiastic supporters to help give our Cardiff Half Marathon runners the biggest and loudest cheers on race day! We’ll have over 100 runners take on the half marathon for us this year – our largest team yet, help us to make it a special day for them!

We need you to help us motivate and support our amazing runners who are aiming to raise money for us – which will go a long way to helping us support people with cancer, and their loved ones. 

What will I be doing?

General Event Support

Cheering on our amazing runners (and being louder than anyone else on route!) 

Welcoming their families and friends to the cheer point 

You may be asked to help set up our cheer station with our banners and flags

Our transport volunteers usually spend two to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Role Overview

The Fundraising & Grant Writing Volunteer will be pivotal in bolstering the organisation's efforts to secure essential funding, driving sustainable growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying potential grant sources, including foundations and donors that align with our mission.

You will lead the effort in drafting compelling grant proposals, letters of enquiry, and funding requests to effectively communicate our goals and needs.

Another key aspect of your role will be building and nurturing relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners, fostering strong connections to enhance our funding opportunities.

Finally, you will conduct market research to identify emerging trends and successful fundraising strategies, ensuring we remain ahead in our efforts to secure support.

Save the Family offers temporary housing and round-the-clock support to homeless families with complex needs, shaped through a history informed by trauma.

What qualities do Trustees need?

Above all a Trustee must be committed to the aims of Save the Family and to helping vulnerable homeless families to overcome their problems and restore their lives.

What are we looking for in a Treasurer?

Understanding of Charity Finance with a background in financial management and/or accounting. Awareness of voluntary sector funding arrangements, income generation, and financial planning would be an advantage.
