Job description

Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time, Fully Remote)
Remuneration: £14 per hour (London living wage applies) | Hours: 16 per week | Location: Fully remote (UK-based)

About the Organisation:
We are a small, values-driven charity dedicated to providing peer support for bereaved adults through volunteer-led sessions. Volunteers are central to the delivery of our services, and we are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to serve as their primary point of contact, advocate, and source of support.

Position Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator will play a pivotal operational role in supporting, coordinating, and caring for our volunteers and peer-support facilitators. This role involves working closely with the Global Lead, Operations Manager, and volunteers to ensure that all services are delivered efficiently, safely, and consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Coordination and Support

· Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteers and facilitators

· Act as the primary point of contact for volunteer queries and concerns

· Conduct regular welfare check-ins and provide ongoing support

· Coordinate volunteer teams to ensure timely completion of agreed tasks

· Organise volunteer forums and engagement initiatives

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, including DBS checks

Meeting Coordination

· Manage and maintain the schedule of peer-support meetings

· Support volunteers in completing required meeting processes and documentation

· Ensure all meeting information is accurate and up-to-date on the website

Communications and Digital Engagement

· Coordinate the Social Media volunteer team and oversee content scheduling

· Ensure clear and consistent communication regarding the charity’s services and activities

· Support the updating of volunteer resources and public-facing materials

· Assist the Marketing Lead with website updates as required

·       Bi-monthly volunteer newsletter

Safeguarding and Conduct

· Conduct biannual one-to-one check-ins with all volunteers

· Monitor volunteer conduct and raise concerns in accordance with safeguarding policies

· Escalate welfare or safeguarding issues to the appropriate lead

Reporting and Accountability

· Report directly to the Global Lead, who is accountable to the Trust Board

· Support organisational governance through meticulous record-keeping and communication

Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will:

· Be highly organised, reliable, and self-motivated

· Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Be confident in supporting volunteers and managing sensitive conversations

· Work effectively independently while collaborating as part of a small team

· Demonstrate a commitment to peer support, inclusion, and safeguarding

Experience in volunteer coordination, support roles, or managing community projects is desirable but not essential.

Eligibility:
Applicants must reside in the UK and have the right to work in the UK. Proof of eligibility will be required prior to appointment.
