About the volunteer role

The aim of our E-Commerce Assistant role is to provide administrative and operational support to the E-Commerce Manager, assisting with online sales, customer service, and digital marketing initiatives

Key tasks

· Product Listings: Assist in creating and updating product listings on our e-commerce platform.

· Order Processing: Assist in processing orders, including packaging and dispatching items.

· Customer Service: Provide support for customer inquiries via email, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

· Compliance: Ensure all e-commerce activities comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.

· Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the E-Commerce team.

About You

· Communication Skills: Good communication skills.

· IT Literacy: Comfortable using MS Office applications – Outlook, Word, Excel.

· E-Commerce Platforms: Familiarity with e-commerce platforms e.g., Shopify & eBay

· Organisational Skills: Good organisational skills.

· Attention to Detail: High attention to detail.

Experience & skills you will gain

· Experience working as part of a team.

· Experience working within an e-commerce administrative role.

· Gain hands-on experience in the dispatch process, including packaging and shipping.

· Experience in managing product listings and inventory.

As part of our network of shops across the West Midlands, the Pershore Superstore helps us generate vital funds to support children and their families. By volunteering in our new store, you’ll play a key role in this mission while sharing your passion for books.

Step into a dynamic and exciting environment where no two days are the same!

As a shop volunteer you will.

• Organise and Catalogue books, journals, and other materials to keep our collection well-ordered and accessible.
• Assist Visitors in finding the right books and resources, ensuring they have a great experience.
• Engage with Customers by offering friendly service, answering queries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Curate and Sort Donations by arranging shelves, selecting featured titles, and helping process new book donations.

How Much Time Will It Take?

Our shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9am–6pm, and Sundays, 10am–4pm. You can choose the hours that suit you, but we’d love for you to volunteer at least 3 hours a week.

Full Training Provided
No prior experience is required—just enthusiasm and a love for books! While previous experience is a plus, it's not essential. We’ll provide all the training and support you need to succeed

Volunteer Shop Assistants carry out a wide range of tasks in their roles. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, keeping our shop floor full and organised or supporting with raffle ticket sales and promoting gift aid.

How would you be supported in this role?

When you begin your role, you will receive a mix of e-learning and in-person training to get you started. Throughout the role, you will receive refresher training as required as well as ongoing support, reimbursement for role-related expenses and the opportunity to further shape the volunteering you do.

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Age UK operates charity shops to raise funds for the delivery of services for older people in need. Volunteers play a key role in the shop team, ensuring our shops are welcoming places in the community and selling the items that are generously donated to our organisation.
