We are looking to recruit an Assistant Family Services Practitioner to assist with the provision of our whole family holistic approach. You will plan and support safe, creative, inclusive, and appropriate play opportunities for children and young people from a range of age groups. In addition to this, you will work with the team to ensure that children are supported with their learning through activities such as after school, homework clubs, practical and other activities when required. You will also work with the team to assist with the development and delivery of the Family Services outreach offer which will require some traveling to other settings to deliver our services off site. These may include temporary accommodation hotels or community venues in Westminster. Additional travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Please note that this role requires flexibility to allow for changes to the weekly rota to meet the needs of our clients. The Family Centre is open on Saturdays and will require some Saturday working. The work pattern rotates from Tuesday – Saturday or Monday – Friday.

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys team in the Tees Valley area, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. You’ll be at the heart of creating positive change, ensuring projects are cost-efficient, timely, and impactful. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Lead the delivery of behaviour change and engagement projects and campaigns to encourage active travel.
• Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery in line with objectives and timelines.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, community groups, and partner organisations.
• Collaborate with the Sustrans Volunteering Team to coordinate and promote volunteer and community champion opportunities.
• Provide leadership and day-to-day oversight of an interdisciplinary delivery team.
• Mentor and coach direct reports to support their development and performance.
• Represent Sustrans through presentations, workshops, and meetings with existing and potential partners. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

Job Profile

CAFOD’s work in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and resource Catholics to participate in the Church’s mission to overcome poverty and injustice in partnership with CAFOD.

The main purpose of this role is to inspire and increase the participation in CAFOD’s work of Catholic parishes, schools and the broader Catholic community within the Plymouth Diocese. CPCs are accountable for delivering CAFOD’s annual participation plans locally across England and Wales. As well as growing the number of parishes and schools participating to address global poverty and express solidarity with our global family, we aim to increase the breadth of their engagement, participation.

This will be accomplished partly by the recruitment and support of a team of committed, inspired and well-resourced volunteers working in parish and school communities to enable and equip Catholics to give, act and pray. The work will also involve meeting important church-based stakeholders, advisers and networks within the diocese to build fruitful and positive relationships.

The post reports to the Community Participation Manager for Wales & West Region (The dioceses of Lancaster, Liverpool, Salford, Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Cardiff-Menevia, Clifton, Birmingham, and Plymouth)

The Community Participation Coordinator (CPC) is part of a regional team working across a group of dioceses and whilst having a primary focus on one diocese, is responsible for the results of the regional team plans in relation parishioner and school participation and volunteer recruitment and retention.

The role will be home based, although the post holder will be mobile and flexible to meet volunteers, clergy and other stakeholders and contribute at events as required.

The role requires a willingness to be adaptable to support the work of the regional team, deploying skills, knowledge and at times activity in other parts of the regional team area. This is likely to require some additional travel (which would be reimbursed by CAFOD). The post also requires weekend and evening work for which time off in lieu (toil) can be claimed.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering participation plans

• Share accountability for delivery of annual participation plans for the region (a group of dioceses) with a primary focus on one diocese, and for fundraising, education, campaigns, and other targets, as delineated by the participation plan for the region. It is usually anticipated that the role will have an 80% focus on parish communities and a 20% focus on school communities
• Contribute to the development and delivery of a regional plan across a number of dioceses in support of the annual participation plans and appropriate for local contexts
• Achieve targets for increasing parishioner and children & young people participation primarily through recruitment and retention of volunteers and working with clergy, religious, diocesan and parish advisers and administrators etc.
• Monitor and share information around community participation and recruitment, activity, development and retention of volunteers
• Closely monitor parish participation activity

Managing volunteers

• Be the local volunteer manager in a specific diocese or dioceses
• Hold the relationship with, and coordinate the work of, a number of volunteers in order to achieve the annual participation plan in the region
• Contribute to increasing the number and activity of parish and school volunteers and volunteer co-ordinators in line with the regional team plan
• Contribute to the development of volunteering opportunities and volunteer leadership
• Match the offers, skills, experiences and expectations of volunteers with opportunities and needs in relation to CAFOD’s plans for parishioners and children & young people
• Ensure each volunteer is appropriately inducted, briefed, trained and resourced
• Increase and ensure volunteer retention through induction, support, affirmation and effective management of the volunteer throughout their involvement with CAFOD
• Organise and promote volunteer meetings and training opportunities to be delivered either by national programme teams or self or members of her/his regional team
• Ensure volunteer records are accurate and up to date on the database.

Managing relationships

• Build and maintain key relationships, including with priests, advisers, school staff and others within a diocese as determined in the regional plan. Be point of contact with the local Bishop.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with diocesan communications officers and press and be a point of contact for local broadcast and print media, to increase opportunities for Catholics to hear about CAFOD’s work, working with and through media volunteers where possible.

• To attend and contribute to regular Team, Group and CAFOD-wide meetings and briefings
• To participate in training and other activities as requested by the line manager
• To work as a supportive member of the team, providing cover for and training of other team members and volunteers as required

Purpose of role: 

Increasing and diversifying the sources of funding for A Rocha UK’s work is key to our fundraising strategy. The Grants and Legacies Manager will play a key role identifying potential granting bodies, writing and submitting bids, and managing reporting on grants from a range of sources, including  large foundations, and Church denominations.  In doing so, they will work closely with other staff, especially the CEO, programme staff, and other members of the fundraising team. They will also manage occasional legacies and, as capacity allows, develop a proactive legacy promotion programme. The successful candidate will have previous experience securing funds from trusts, as well as excellent writing skills, an interest in the environment and an active Christian faith. The post currently reports to the CEO.

An exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a growing adult literacy charity as it expands across Central England

One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all. This can have a serious impact on their confidence and wellbeing, limiting access to training, employment, and everyday opportunities that many take for granted. Being unable to read as an adult can be isolating and dangerous, reinforces social inequality, restricts economic growth, and worsens intergenerational disadvantage - but it is never too late to learn.

Read Easy helps adults transform their lives by learning to read. It does this by supporting its growing network of locally run, volunteer-led affiliated groups that offer free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching—both in person and online to adults - aged from 18-88. 

With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.

There are currently 80 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation which supports this network of affiliated volunteer groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas.

As our Central Regional Adviser, your role would be to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that all volunteer groups consistently deliver high-quality services aligned with Read Easy UK’s strategy.

You will support local volunteer leaders to strengthen group performance, and foster collaboration across affiliated groups, so that that they deliver coaching to Readers with consistent quality, and a positive and worthwhile experience is had by all.

You will also find volunteers to ‘pioneer’ three new groups in the counties where there is no Read Easy presence in the East and West Midlands and East of England and provide them and our 29 existing groups and pioneers in the region, with high-quality support. Your quality support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and new Readers. From meeting (mostly online) with Team Leaders to provide one to one support, and hosting online and annual in-person volunteer forums, to delivering presentations and occaisonal training for small groups of volunteers, this is a dynamic and rewarding role.

This is a home-based post requiring flexibility, some early evening working and occaisional travel to visit groups. The role is available on either a full or part time basis (min 32 hours p/w, 85% of 37.5 hours p/w FTE).

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Live within one of the following areas: West Midlands (Defined as the 7 metropolitan boroughs of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, and Wolverhampton), Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire or Rutland;
• have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years;
• have strong people management and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and the confidence to run meetings and deliver presentations.

Swan's service is valued enormously by our passengers and this rewarding role managing our community transport scheme provides the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of many people throughout the county of Bath and North East Somerset.

We operate with a team of volunteers and their cars and our scheme serves older people and those with disabilitites who are unable to access buses or to afford taxis. This is an opportunity to join Swan as we move forward in a new office, with new transport software and a new food club. Someone who is personable, who enjoys a busy environment with good management, organisational, telephone, people and IT skills and experience of working with volunteers who can develop our work and increase the number of volunteers would be ideal. The role also involves oversight and development of our food club, the supplies, volunteers and members, and liasing with other food agencies.

Purpose of Job

To co-ordinate and develop a volunteer car drivers transport scheme which serves isolated, disabled or older people throughout Bath and North East Somerset and to oversee Swan’s Radstock Food Club which operates once a week.

Salary £30,000 to £35,000 pro rata depending on experience

Responsible for Transport Administrator, volunteer drivers and food club volunteers

Location Unit B, 1 Waterloo Rd, Radstock BA3 3EP, with some home working possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

·  To co-ordinate Swan’s 3 transport schemes and report to the CEO.

·  To recruit, induct, train, and informally supervise volunteer drivers keeping an eye on their welfare.

· To maintain accurate and appropriate records for journeys, invoicing, and monitoring purposes.

· To liaise with clients, family members and other local agencies and to work in partnership with other local transport providers and the hospital transport team.

· To identify opportunities for further development of the transport scheme or related services

· To supervise and appraise the Transport Administrator and set tasks for the office volunteer

· To work with Social Workers and support staff to accept referrals to the scheme and to liaise with them.

· To keep up to date with volunteer policy and transport regulations.

· To act as Safeguarding Officer and create risk assessments

· To promote Swan Transport

· To check driver documentation annually

· To liaise with Swan’s Book Keeper regarding income and expenses.

· To monitor passenger satisfaction.

· To assist with journey bookings and the transport software.

· Sort out day to day problems and deal with any complaints.

· Make drivers and other visitors welcome when they visit the office

· Write reports for the Annual report and report on the impact of Swan Transport as required.

· To attend meetings and network with outside agencies.

· To liaise with Food Pantry volunteers and Fareshare over food deliveries and the operation of the Food Pantry. Occasional food collection may be necessary so a car driver is preferred.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To work within a team to provide excellent support to the community service support department.  To help ensure accurate and timely follow ups take place with all new and ongoing cases.  To build rapport with our clients, both petitioners and volunteers alike, by making contact primarily via the telephone or email and letter where needed.  To be warm and friendly and have empathy with our clients’ needs.  To quickly identify any problems and ensure each conversation is handled in a compassionate manner. 

A good telephone manner is essential, together with excellent literacy and IT skills, coupled with the ability to work to tight deadlines, often under pressure.

This is a sensitive role which requires an individual with the ability to handle confidential information and correspondence.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

i. Under direction, to help ensure that the support for all new and ongoing cases is provided by ensuring contact is made within set timescales and according to set protocols.

ii. To ensure timely referral to the operations team when a volunteer drops out or a need for extra help is identified.

iii. To help answer all incoming calls general queries relating to community service support for our clients.

iv. Throughout the course of your work to ensure you record your responses on each individual case on our database. To contribute to the team by helping to also update volunteer information from each telephone conversation. 

v. Under direction, to assist with responses to both incoming and outgoing to DL letters and update each case, to ensure a prompt reply and timely referral where necessary.

vi. Throughout the course of your work, to identify when on the phone, possible good stories to enable us to approach and persuade all individuals involved to submit an article for the newsletter.

vii. To handle telephone inquiries and relay messages where appropriate.

viii. To demonstrate a proactive, positive and flexible attitude to all our clients.

ix. To have flexibility to work additional hours for holiday and sickness cover when directed.

x. To liaise with all other staff of the Trust in a flexible manner.

xi. At all times to ensure and maintain a compassionate, professional and efficient public image for the Trust.

About the role:

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services. 

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.

A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience of having a relative with SCI is essential, together with sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.
