Working Hours & Location
This role follows a 37 hours, over a 7 day working pattern. This is a site-based role at Anderton Boat Lift, CW9 6FW.
Working across our visitor attraction, the Duty Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation at Anderton Boat Lift, alongside leading and motivating a team to deliver outstanding customer service. The team will support this through engaging activity participation, the sale of goods and services, and the upkeep of a high‑quality environment for all visitors.
The Duty Manager will champion the Trust’s values, both personally and through your team, helping to create an exceptional visitor experience. In this role, you will actively contribute to increasing revenue, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring our sites remain welcoming and enjoyable places to visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team or teams of staff/ volunteers delivering a safe environment and excellent customer service; for example in maintenance, retail, catering or operation of trip boats/ other.
- Adoption of required emergency, safety, operational, financial, other processes appropriate to tasks. Plan and implement safe working procedures - creation of risk assessments and method statements, in line with the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy and standards.
- Customers dealt with to expected standards of courtesy and care; resolve concerns/ complaints.
- Deliver targeted business plan objectives for services, projects, events, maintenance to planned expenditure budgets, regularly reporting on the same. Assist with identifying future priorities/ business planning and budgetary planning.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety at the site. Identify maintenance requirements and prioritisation. Instigate local maintenance tasks where required; liaise with other operational teams, contractors the Trust management structures as necessary for the execution of works
- Coach, develop and support the team performance for required measures, including customer satisfaction and other service standards. Report on the same.
- Plan and lead volunteers undertaking tasks ensuring the application of Trust procedures and the provision of a safe working environment for volunteers, and a satisfying volunteer experience.
- Recruitment and retention of staff and volunteers to assist with the running of the attractions, ensuring staff and volunteer satisfaction is high and their duties are rewarding.
About you
You’re an experienced and confident team leader who can motivate staff and volunteers to deliver a safe, welcoming and high‑quality visitor experience. You understand operational and safety procedures and can produce risk assessments and method statements when needed.
You handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, and you’re comfortable delivering services and projects to agreed targets and budgets. You maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety, identifying and coordinating maintenance needs promptly.
You support, coach and develop your team, using performance measures and customer feedback to drive improvement. You also enjoy working with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, supported and engaged.
Skills & Qualifications
- HND or Degree in relevant discipline or proven experience in a similar role
- Relevant occupational qualifications in disciplines for bespoke tasks, for example food hygiene.
- Customer service training qualification – Welcome Host or equivalent
- Valid driving licence appropriate to vehicle for specific roles
- Trust minimum safety learning standards
- Appropriate qualification in safety management, relevant to team discipline – NVQ level 3 Safety Management/NEBOSH General certificate
- Proven experience in a customer facing relevant to the task required.

Job Purpose
The Group Head of Marketing and Communications is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering an excellent quality, high impact approach to integrated marketing, brand and communications across the TLC Group.

Wider Support

Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Provide outstanding leadership and direction for the TLC Group Marketing and Communications team, bringing energy and drive to our ambition.
- Develop and lead the implementation of a TLC Group-wide Marketing and Communications strategy aligned with organisational goals.

About the Role:

About the Role
The PR team is responsible for generating, sustaining and growing the charity’s income year after year by communicating the work, ministry and financial needs of Caring For Life to a wide range of audiences.
The Trust Fundraiser will focus primarily on securing funding from Trusts, Foundations and grant-making bodies, whilst also helping to nurture relationships with major donors and exploring opportunities for corporate support.
As part of the PR team, the successful candidate will also support wider PR activities during busy periods, including Open Days, Supporters’ Days, formal visits and practical tasks at peak times.
Organisational Structure
The PR team is line managed by the Executive Director, with additional support from the CEO regarding pastoral insight and communication with churches and other Christian groups.
Background Information
Caring For Life has an established and respected Trust fundraising programme, with longstanding relationships built over many years. Alongside carefully stewarding these relationships, the charity continually researches and develops new funding opportunities.
At the end of the financial year 2026, income from Trusts totalled circa £265,000
Main Duties
- Undertake induction and training relevant to the role.
- Maintain and develop the existing Trusts database.
- Ensure reports and funding applications are submitted accurately and on time.
- Keep clear records of applications, correspondence, grants received and acknowledgements sent.
- Research new Trusts and funding opportunities using online systems, publications and resources such as Invisible Grantmakers.
- Work with project leaders and senior managers to identify fundable projects and budget requirements.
- Attend budget meetings and assist staff in understanding funding allocations.
- Prepare compelling funding proposals, reports and covering letters.
- Liaise with the Design and Media team regarding photography and supporting materials.

Now, while our Managing Director is on maternity leave, we're looking for an exceptional interim leader to hold the organisation steady and help it thrive.
About the role:
As Interim Executive Director, you'll be deputy to the CEO and a core member of our Senior Leadership Team. You'll hold the big picture: strategy, governance, finance, and fundraising, whilst also being across our operations and being present and part of the day-to-day. From Board engagement and risk management to leading our impact report and driving our plans for our 10th anniversary event, no two weeks will look the same.
You'll lead and line-manage talented team members across fundraising, school partnerships, and operations. You'll be the steady hand that keeps our income pipeline strong and our systems running smoothly.
This role would suit you if, you're a leader who balances strategic thinking with being genuinely hands-on. You stay calm under pressure, make clear decisions when they're needed, and take people with you rather than leaving them behind.

Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership

Provide executive leadership to the organisation, fostering a high-performance, inclusive and values-led culture aligned with the charity’s mission.

Lead, support, and develop the Senior Leadership Team and Fundraising and Schools Partnership leaders, ensuring consistent performance and accountability.

Inspire and motivate staff, promoting engagement, foster a learning culture, create ownership, and commitment to organisational goals.

Work with the CEO, Board, and Senior Leadership Team to shape and deliver the charity’s third year of its five-year strategy, ensuring alignment with the funding landscape and the evolving needs of children and communities.

Deputise for the CEO when required, including Board engagement, strategic decision-making, and external representation.

Act as an ambassador for TKN, promoting its work and campaigns to engage, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders.
Governance & Operations:

Lead the Operations function. Manage the Systems and Operations Officer to ensure our robust systems and operations continue to run effectively at a high quality and enable the charity to achieve its stated goals.

Provide executive oversight of HR, demonstrating knowledge of HR compliance and law, supporting with serious HR matters and providing leadership support on people matters, performance management and staff development.

Oversee the use of key technology platforms, ensuring that the charity is operating in the most efficient way, in accordance with UK GDPR and promoting data hygiene and security and supporting the Operations officer to develop guides and standard operating procedures

Hold executive accountability for organisational compliance, risk management, and operational integrity. Act as the lead for the charity in the event of a serious data or H&S incident.

Lead the organisational risk register and risk management, ensuring risks are proactively identified, mitigated, managed and communicated to our board of Trustees and the CEO

Maintain awareness of relevant policy, legislative, regulatory, and sector developments, ensuring organisational readiness and compliance.

Work closely with the CEO and chair of the Resource Committee to set the agenda and plan for papers for this committee (3 times a year).

Act as the key contact with the landlord and the charity’s IT contractors, as and when required
Income Generation, Partnerships and Communication:

Oversee the coordination and delivery of key fundraising activities, supporting the organisation’s income generation through strategic oversight and targeted input where required. Lead and line manage the Fundraising and Development Lead.

Play a key role in planning and delivering the 10-year anniversary event in May 2027.

Develop, manage, and strengthen high-level strategic funder relationships and networks, building a strong pipeline of partnerships to support income targets.

Lead and line manage the Schools and Partnerships Lead to achieve ambitious school targets and secure positive partnerships with schools

Utilise the organisation’s data systems to identify relevant insights and stories, leading the development of the 2026 Impact Report.

Finance & Sustainability

Hold accountability for the operational delivery and financial sustainability of the charity.

Work closely with the CEO and external Financial Service Provider to develop organisational budgets, support with the annual independent examiner and ensure effective financial planning, management, and oversight.

About Action Tutoring
At Action Tutoring, we believe every child should be given the opportunity to succeed in school. But in the UK today, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to
achieve the grades they need to progress in life. This isn't because they are any less able; they have less access to the tools to help them reach their potential.

Senior Leadership
As one of the four members of the Senior Leadership Team of Action Tutoring, you will contribute to leadership decision-making, representing your own areas of expertise but also advocating for the best strategic options for the charity as a whole.

Line management
Overseeing a small team, this role has direct line management responsibility for the Head of People & Culture, the Operations Manager, and the Senior Finance Officer. Skills, competencies and qualities
- Exceptional leadership skills, including a proven ability to lead, develop and grow third sector organisations or multi-faceted teams delivering complex activities, projects and campaigns;
- Excellent communication and external leadership skills: articulate, assertive, with the ability to work diplomatically and persuasively with stakeholders at all levels;
- Experienced in acting as the public face of an organisation, such as through the media, public speaking and high-level meetings, and using evidence and storytelling to articulate and champion a cause;

Other information
The role will involve extensive travel within Britain as part of building your profile and that of the organisation with central and devolved government in Scotland and Wales, and increasingly with the devolved regions of England.
There is flexibility on location given the requirement to travel and that your office will be home-based. You will need to travel to in-person quarterly team meetings (usually in London or West Yorkshire) and to Board meetings which alternate between online and London. It is expected that travel will be by public transport and easy access to the rail network is therefore required to ensure journeys can be made sustainably.
This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. We use a flexi-time system with core hours 10am-3pm, and are committed to being a flexible, supportive and understanding employer. This is a permanent position with a probationary period of six months.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead the delivery of our Community One-to-One Advocacy project across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, staff management, community engagement, partnerships, compliance, and monitoring to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and person-centred advocacy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day delivery and development of the advocacy project.

This role provides leadership to three Partnerships and Placements Managers (PPMs), with responsibility for sustaining and securing strong partnerships with local authorities (LAs) and children’s trusts across their region.
The postholder will have strategic ownership of sales activity against recruitment targets across several programmes, with scope for future growth and expansion of business development activity as the organisation evolves.
Specifically, the role will have overall ownership for the achievement of partnerships targets in their area for the Approach Social Work programme, to develop and support 600+ Fellows (alumni) annually. This is directly linked to achieving Frontline’s organisational objective of having 4,000 impactful Fellows by 2025, who will create social change for children without a safe or stable home.
Working closely with Principal Practice Tutor colleagues, the role will manage and escalate partnership risk within local authorities, ensuring timely resolution and strong ongoing relationships.
