Purpose

Young Carers’ Crew is a registered charity (number 1176778) and runs a group which meets to provide emotional and practical support to Young Carers through recreational activities. We give support to local children and young people, who perform a caring role supporting another member of their household. 

Young Carers’ Crew is a small grassroots community group. We are hoping to bring in more people with diverse skills and experience to build sustainability.  

We are looking for Volunteer Trustees with a range of skills, to help steer and direct the organisation. 

The Board of Trustees takes on the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for all the activities of the organisation. They maintain an overview of policy and strategic direction rather than being involved in day-to-day operations. This position will not have any regular contact with the children or the volunteers running the Group activities. 

Role Description 

Volunteer Trustee for Young Carers’ Crew 

Volunteering is an unpaid position. Appropriate out-of-pocket expenses will be re-imbursed.

Location: Most tasks will be home-based.  Meetings will be held in and around Hitchin, Herts.

Hours: Up to 2.5 hours per month for Board meetings. Additional time for position is estimated to be 3 to 4 hours per month.

Reports to: Chair of Board of Trustees for Young Carers’ Crew

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) requirement: Appointment to these posts is subject to an up-to-date, satisfactory, enhanced DBS check with a check against the barred lists for children and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

It is anticipated that the successful applicants will help to define the details of the position.

Experience

No experience is necessary for a general position on the Board of Trustees, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help the organisation grow and support the young carers.

For more specific positions; it would be highly desirable that you bring some experience in the charity sector, social care or in business development. 

So, for example, we would welcome someone with experience of working in a safeguarding role with young people specifically or from an HR background or someone who can help us raise money for the charity. .

We’re committed to campaigning to keep our countryside open to all and to fighting for the things that matter most to walkers. We lead the way, and the walks, for a vibrant community united by the joys of walking, helping everyone get more out of their walks. 

The role of East Sussex Area Countryside Officer involves reviewing planning applications published by Local Authorities and creating and submitting objections on behalf of Sussex Ramblers if an application is likely to have an adverse impact on the Sussex countryside and the places where people walk. Objections may be expressed in writing through a response to the planning process, but could also involve site visits and on occasions attendance at public hearings or meetings with representatives of Local Authorities or with other stakeholders such as Parish Councils and environmental and wildlife organisations.

The role holder will work closely with other Ramblers volunteers such as the East Sussex Area Footpath Officer, the West Sussex Area Countryside Officer and Local Footpath Wardens in East Sussex and where necessary will seek advice and guidance from Ramblers' Central Office. Other main contacts include the Local Authorities, Parish/Town Councils, the South Downs National Park Authority and the East Sussex Local Access Forum. The role holder will be a member of the Area leadership team (Area Council). You will need to be a member of the Ramblers and to live in or close to East Sussex.

A desire and ability to work in a team environment is essential. You will also need to be comfortable using a computer and the internet, and managing information.

Key tasks

• Defining and maintaining donor personas to ensure targeted, relevant messaging.

• Mapping the end-to-end donor journey and delivering timely, mission-aligned communications at each stage.

• Creating and sending monthly updates to new and recently lapsed donors to  encourage continued support.

• Collaborating with the content and fundraising teams to create compelling email content to attract and convert new donors.

• Developing and executing re-engagement strategies for lapsed monthly donors.

• Collaborating closely with the Marketing and Design teams to align messaging and visual content across campaigns.

2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

Wekume is a comprehensive mobile app designed to provide university students in Uganda with seamless access to reproductive health services, including counseling, testing, products, and health education, while also offering personal development resources like business incubation and career-building opportunities

• Limited Access to Reproductive Health Services: Many university students in Uganda face barriers such as stigma, limited health resources, and lack of awareness, which prevent them from accessing essential services like family planning, STI testing, and HIV prevention.

Wekume is a youth-led movement empowering students to reach their full potential by breaking barriers to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) through collaboration, empathy, innovation, and community. Our core product — the Wekume app — provides university students with trusted, discreet access to lifesaving tools like SafeChat, QuickTest, ARV Corner, and SRH product ordering. Together with our on-campus engagements and social media platforms, Wekume helps students protect themselves and rewrite the narrative around SRH in Uganda.

Role Summary Wekume is seeking a Volunteer International Fundraising Manager to design, build, and lead our international fundraising efforts. This is a key leadership role, critical to growing partnerships with corporations, individuals, businesses, organizations, and allied nonprofits to help fund Wekume’s transformative work. You will recruit, guide, and mentor a team of experienced fundraisers and gift officers, working together to secure the support needed to:

1. Develop and launch our new and improved Wekume app
2. Fund vital programs, SRH product access, marketing, transportation, volunteer support, leadership salaries, and more
3. You will also help share Wekume’s story globally — inviting the world to stand in compassion and purpose alongside our innovative Ugandan team, and to advocate for hope, dignity, and the power to protect oneself.

Crisis of Faith: 1 in 4 young Muslims are leaving the religion due to various factors, primarily the pervasive anti-religious content and temptations they encounter online and offline. 

Roots Academy exists to bridge this gap by providing a structured and transformative Islamic education that speaks directly to the needs and challenges of young Muslims today, delivered in an engaging and accessible form that removes barriers to access and provokes thought and action.

Role Summary.

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy UK. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects excellence, clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print.

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values.

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals.

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides).

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space.

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner.

What we’re looking for

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines.

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma.

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input.

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design.

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).

• Excellent communication and time-management skills.

MiMIAT Health

At MiMIAT Health, we are empowering heroes with chronic conditions. We offer a multilingual app (iOS & Android), already live across Europe and Kenya, that enables patients to track symptoms, diet, weight, and stool. Soon, they’ll also integrate wearables and upload clinical records, building a unified, patient-owned health timeline.

Chronic disease management today remains highly fragmented, inequitable, and provider-centric, leaving millions without continuous care, especially in low-resource or high-mobility settings. Patients often lose ownership of their own health data, resulting in reactive instead of proactive care, late interventions and detections of flare ups, and preventable hospitalizations. 89% of chronic patients fail to consistently track their condition due to fragmented, manual, or incomplete tools, and 71% of doctors report that disconnected apps and records create gaps in delivering personalized care. In many regions, patients without smartphones or stable internet access are further excluded from digital health innovation.

MiMIAT Health addresses these challenges by creating a unified, patient-driven platform for structured health data aggregation, with mobile and SMS-based accessibility. We tackle the systemic inequities of chronic care access, digital inclusion, and health data sovereignty, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being.

MiMIAT Health is a digital health platform offering a free mobile app (iOS and Android) available in five languages, enabling patients to self-track key health metrics, and soon connect medical devices, and upload clinical documents — building their own continuous health record. By Q4 2025, we are also set to launch SMS-based access to reach digitally underserved populations.

Healthcare providers, with patient consent — particularly in primary and secondary care — can access this real-time data through our web platform, allowing earlier interventions and more proactive care. We offer both our standalone platform and EHR integration, ensuring no provider is left behind and enabling faster, more personalized patient interventions.

Finance and Fundraising Lead

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

�� What are we looking for? We’re looking for a Finance & Fundraising Lead (volunteer, 4–5h/week, with potential for paid FTE based on performance and funding) to help us build the financial backbone of MiMIAT Health as we scale. This is a hands-on, high-trust role for someone who believes numbers can drive impact, not just profit. Based purely on performance and commitment, this role has the potential to evolve into a paid part-time or full-time position as the organization grows and funding permits. You’ll work directly with our Founder/CEO and our COO, shaping how we budget, forecast, raise capital, and build confidence with funders. As we close our pre-seed round and enter the next phase, your contribution will directly influence how we grow, and how many patients we reach. You’ll be joining a committed, purpose-driven team spread across three continents and five countries, all working remotely, all led by mission.

�� What you’ll do? Co-develop MiMIAT’s financial planning, budgeting processes, and 3–5 year financial models to support strategic growth, capital forecasting, and upcoming fundraising milestones. – Create clear, funder-facing materials (budgets, burn rates, strategic use of funds). – Support with fundraising strategy and active pipeline management. – Help structure and track our runway, budgeting, and internal financial processes. – Collaborate on shaping our investor narrative and data room, alongside CEO.

Your 4–5 hours per week won’t just shape a spreadsheet. They’ll shape how fast we reach millions of patients, and how confidently we do it.

�� Who are you? – You’re comfortable building financial models from scratch (projections, P&L, cash flow). – You’ve worked with early-stage startups (pre-seed to Series A), ideally helping raise capital. – You understand what investors need to see, and how to balance strategy with real-world constraints. – You can translate financial complexity into clarity, for funders, partners, and the team. – You’re excited by purpose, not perks. You want your work to mean something. – Bonus if you’ve worked in healthcare or social impact settings.

We are looking for creative and enthusiastic Content Writers to join our newly forming content team. You will help produce inspiring, well-researched blog articles, website content, and resources that connect with our audience and communicate the values and mission of Roots Academy. You’ll also learn valuable SEO writing techniques to ensure your content is discoverable and impactful.

Key tasks

• Research and write clear, engaging, and original content for our website, newsletter, and blog.

• Incorporate keywords and SEO recommendations provided by the SEO Specialist.

• Ensure content aligns with Roots Academy’s brand voice and tone.

• Collaborate with the SEO Specialist and wider team to review and refine drafts.

• Suggest new content topics based on research, trends, and audience needs.

What we’re looking for

• Passion for Islamic education and the development of young Muslims. 

• Strong writing, grammar, and research skills.

• Ability to adapt writing style for different audiences.

• Willingness to learn SEO writing techniques (guidance and resources will be provided).

• Reliable, organised, and able to meet deadlines.
