Marmalade Connections is a time-limited, one-to-one project covering most of the South West. Based on the enabling/empowering social prescribing model, trained volunteers make weekly calls to project members for up to 15 weeks, focusing on their specific needs and interests.  The project supports those in our community who are the most socially isolated, and who experience chronic loneliness (feeling lonely all or most of the time). 

Marmalade Connections is not a 'befriending call project'.​ These conversations lead to volunteers signposting the project members to local social activities and community support, to improve their social connections long term. 

As a Marmalade Companion Volunteer, you will support one or occasionally two of our project members (the people we support) for a period of up to 16 weeks. The role involves phoning a matched member once a week for a friendly call lasting about 30 minutes plus researching potential social connection and activity opportunities. You will receive training on how to build up a trusted telephone relationship with your project member(s) to enable you to support and signpost them to relevant services and activities. The aim of this project is to help reduce social isolation and loneliness and to support your project member(s) to discover lasting connections in their community.

Talent Advisory & Employee Relations

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex ER issues, performance management, and workforce planning.
• Resolve high-risk employee concerns with fairness, empathy, and adherence to labour laws.
• Lead investigations into grievances or misconduct, ensuring equitable outcomes and minimal organisational risk.

Team Leadership & Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop the Talent Advisory team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure alignment with departmental and organisational goals.
• Promote continuous learning within the team, particularly in areas of D&I, social justice, and equitable HR practices.

Engagement & Retention

• Partner with the People & Culture team to design programs that boost employee engagement, retention, and belonging.
• Analyse turnover data and exit interviews to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.
• Champion recognition initiatives that celebrate contributions aligned with QuilomboUK’s mission.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure HR practices comply with employment laws, regulations, and internal equity standards.
• Mitigate organisational risk through robust documentation, audits, and training on HR policies.
• Lead compliance reporting and address gaps proactively.

D&I Integration

• Embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into talent lifecycle processes (e.g., hiring, promotions, succession planning).
• Advise leaders on creating inclusive team environments and addressing systemic inequities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to advance external social justice partnerships and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in HR management, with expertise in employee relations, policy development, and team leadership. Prior experience in mission-driven or D&I-focused organisations is a plus.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
• Proven ability to resolve complex ER cases with diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.

We are looking to recruit an Administration Volunteer for the Mid Sussex Group. Our Administration Volunteers are the linchpin for our local groups’ activities. They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.

In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community. 

Time Commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
