Job description

Volunteer Mentor GM

One Million Mentors is a community based mentoring program that empowers young people to become the best version of themselves: building relationships - free of assumption and judgement - where they benefit from another’s experience and perspective and can think bigger, find their own answers and take the next meaningful step into their future. Our aim is to strengthen communities and level the playing field.

This 2025, we are in need of volunteers to help our young people in Greater Manchester. We equip and train professionals to mentor young people aged 14-25, largely through mentoring programmes in schools, colleges, alternative education programmes and youth organisations. Our mentoring is one to one, for an hour a month, for up to a year.

Between October 2025 and June 2026 we will be launching almost 20 timetabled mentoring programmes with our youth partners and are looking to match up to 400 mentees with mentors. Could you be one of them? Here’s some of our upcoming programmes:

South Manchester:

Burnage Academy For Boys (Wednesday mornings from October)

Loreto High School (Wednesday afternoons from October)

Chorlton High School (Thursday afternoons from November)

Wythenshawe:

Dixons Academies (From October & January)

North Manchester:

Abraham Moss Community Schools (Monday mornings from April 2026)

Eden Girls Leadership Academy (Friday afternoons from June 2026)

Oldham:

Oldham Sixth Form College (Wednesday mornings from October)

Salford:

Coop Academy Swinton (Wednesday afternoons from January)

Trafford:

Trafford College (Monday afternoons from November)

Stockport:

Aquinas College (Thursday afternoons from January)
